| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/15/2008 10:55:28 PM | Much as I love the guy he can be pretty tempremental in his playing, so ?? we will wait and see. he is a dam good player when hes on form. maybe the combination when they are both having off weeks will work I was refering to Semi when I said about 1st team places but the combination of Sol and Semi worked really well before, he just needs to get over the arm injury it really set him back last season.
So what do you think about Cas coming back up? do you think they will manage to stay this time? I cant see any team with a 24 man squad being able to , a couple of injuries and they are doomed.

And how many of them ever played 1st grade again? Like I said, rejects and old men. Erm... ALL of them, which is why I named them. They are/were such rejects that after playing in Super League, they all went back to play NRL 1st grade...
You know, when you haven't really got a clue what you're talking about, a bit of research never goes amiss - you should try it.

To be honest I'm not overly optimistic about the signing of Tadulala. I'd rather we had signed Hodgson from Salford (although he's now out injured for several months so in hindsight, I suppose it was a lucky escape) or just decided to give Halley a chance, but I think he'll be in the first choice team and may well do ok.
Are you happy with his replacement(s)? Reilly and Blanch?

According to their official website, they only have a 21 man squad! They better sign some more or hope that their academy blossoms very quickly...otherwise I'll have to agree with you. Harlequins' squad also looks distinctly average though and could also be in trouble.
That's if there is any relegation of course - although you seem so happy at the prospect of Cas being relegated, it'd be a shame to disappoint you.

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/17/2008 10:52:01 PM | oops just going off what my best mate said their she must be bumping the nos up a bit lol, I only seem happy just to get a dis at Sam ohh and the rest of my neighbours Im a wildcat fan living surrounded by Tigers haha.
Reilly seems ok I will reserve my judgement on Blanch Im afraid, Id like to see Luke George getting a few more games this season on the wing hes another young lad with a great deal of potential very much like Atkins.

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/18/2008 1:07:52 AM | Hi,
I'm Robin, 23 and played Blindside from school until my recent shoulder injury.
So my support is as big as it ever was, probably Ospreys, been going there for a few years now and love it.
As I lived in the area, I follow Rugby Lions and Coventry.

I'm surprised. I haven't seen any of your preseason but last year Hudds fans didn't seem to rate Reilly very much as a winger, preferring him at full-back.
I think it will take time for Blanch to get used to the standard of SL. I don't think he played a full season at Cas before they were relegated and I doubt he played 1st grade at Penrith, so it'll be a big step-up from playing in National League 1 with Widnes but he's still fairly young and may manage it.
Paul White was decent enough though IMO, so I don't really see the benefit in letting him go to bring those 2 in...
I don't know much about Luke George but one lad in your academy that did impress me a couple of times last season was Sean Gleeson. He cut Bradford's U21's to ribbons in a gam towards the end of last season... (Although our team included a few U18's while you were fielding a few ringers:- Leo-Latu and the March twins).
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/20/2008 5:57:59 PM | yes I dont understand why we have kept Leo-Latu to be honest Im baffled on that one!!
The March Twins were just part of the furniture and unfortunatley that is how Wakey has been run for quite a few years, shame really luckley it seems that the whole heading body has been turned round this year and the person who thought hisself god has been taken down a peg or two hopefully been shown that he is just an old man stuck in the 60s lol. I do wish them well at York tho.
whitey was brilliant?????????????? I think it was his choice - back of the scenes and all that thats life men are bigger ****es than women

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/21/2008 4:57:05 AM | | Either way, it's surprising that White has decided to drop down a division. I would have thought he would have been able to find a new club in SL. | |

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/22/2008 11:37:00 PM | | who knows?? hes not one of the pretty but dim ones so maybe he has been looking at something else longterm?? Im sure there will be a reason. | |

hes not one of the pretty...ones... Damn right. The cheerleaders are much better.

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 1/28/2008 2:57:10 PM | I see that Wakey won again. After such an excellent pre-season, you do realise that the only way is down? | |
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/1/2008 12:49:43 PM | yes they did and I froze to death watching them!! the babes played well tho its nice to see some of the young ones getting a chance to play, unlike some other teams who put their has beens out for a run | |

Typically one-sided refereeing at Headingley tonight. After Hull KR got 12-4 up, Silverwood gave Leeds absolutely everything... Maybe someone put the frighterners on him because he was determined not to let Leeds lose.
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/6/2008 8:21:01 AM | I thought Hull KR played really well and they did deserve to win but the Leeds defence was excellent it was as if they kept coming up against a brick wall.
As for the Saturday game it might be as well to for get it, Im glad I never made the journey over in the end apparently we played sheeet and deserved to loose by much more, it was only a couple of the players who saved the day
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/6/2008 8:26:05 AM | | Does anybody out there know the name Mark Williams and the Gentleman of Aspen???..That is how I was introduced to Rugby, they were and are pretty good for a small town team | |

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/8/2008 8:40:35 AM | | Ido believe it is league, and it is mostly in the rocky mountain area, but they have traveled the country and play quite a few top notched teams, it is a very eklectic team, players from all over the planet..one of there players by the name of Willie Jefferson played here and then went on to play with the French national team, Mark Williams was the captain and hailed from England..and then there are the Kiwis and Samoans..one kid actually went to school in Aspen, but they are far and few between...alot of American Eagles played for this team at some point...and believe me when I say, I am fully aware of the caliber of talent between here and elsewhere..it is fun to watch and they are pretty good | |
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/8/2008 10:45:52 AM | | ??? American rugby is almost 100% union - if there are any league teams, they are isolated touring clubs as far as I know. The rugby that is played in youth, college, and club leagues (both men and women) is union. I'm pretty sure Gentlemen of Aspen is a regular union club - they used to be in the Super League but withdrew a few years ago. | |

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/9/2008 1:35:11 AM | I thought Warrington looked impressive last night .But I still think they are a bit light up front to be in the grand final but time will tell Hull also showed a lot of promise considering they had seven players out All in all it will be a very close season prediction Leeds top, saints second- saints win grand final. But I am a saints fan. Did anyone else watch the game last night? | |

??? American rugby is almost 100% union - if there are any league teams, they are isolated touring clubs as far as I know. There is a thriving semi-professional rugby league competition on the east coast of America with teams from New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, Florida and Connecticut. http://www.amnrl.com/

Considering the lack of flair, creativity and tactical kicking skills in the Hull team, I didn't think Wire looked all that good to be honest. Although Monaghan and King made promising starts for them...
If anyone can get them looking completely average by the end of the season, Cullen's the man.
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/9/2008 4:15:25 AM | I thought briers and monaghan were as good as any half back partnership consider it was their first full game together.
I think Warrington are top four this season
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/9/2008 6:24:17 PM | sadly, YES, todays result was disappointing.... onward and upward for us! | |
|
| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/11/2008 5:39:57 AM | Lelle2... Congratulations on yesterday's result. I think we gave you an advantage by putting both a hooker and a half-back on the bench, making the subs far too lightweight....but apart from that we were poor - especially Tupou on the wing (what a donkey) - whilst your team was very sharp.
George, who you mentioned previously, showed up well. Hopefully you'll take points off alot of other teams at Belle Vue this season so this result won't look all that bad in the long run.

| Any rugby fans out there? Posted: 2/11/2008 9:10:43 AM | Well lets see how we do Friday night!! It was the first time Ive seen all the big guys out on the field at the same time and I was impressed altho I did think we might just lose it in the last 10 mins it was nail biting stuff Im just glad we took the penalty kick and had those extra 2 points lead. Yes hes good Im glad George got a place in the 1st game he impressed me in the few games he played last season and in the friendlies.
What a weekend for the underdogs tho!! I couldnt believe the score in the Saints game!! And I thought Cas would come out all guns blazing seeing as they had such an easy 1st game!! Good one Catalans!!
