| Why do guys put ask me anything in their profiles? Posted: 4/15/2008 4:27:58 PM | Messages 51 & 52 have the right idea. Why not just have fun and ask a random question just to see how a person answers? You might accidentally have fun? Don't be scared here. They may actually answer and start a conversation just like you might have while sitting around with friends. | |

| Why do guys put ask me anything in their profiles? Posted: 4/15/2008 5:54:06 PM | Could be a number of things.
If they're slick, it's to build an element of mystery by not giving too much away at first.
But more often than not, it's usually because they're either too lazy to type up a profile or are boring and have nothing interesting to say about themselves and try to cover this up by inviting you to ask specifics if you want to know anything about them.

| Why do guys put ask me anything in their profiles? Posted: 4/15/2008 6:37:21 PM | My first profile was like the dead sea scroll...and pure sarcasm that would make your eyes bleed.....not bitterness...just over the top sarcasm....................one reply.
New profile is just as you described.....a little bit of info....and a few "ask me's".
I've gotten more replies. Go figure.

Thanks for the lame attempt at stereotyping me. Guess what. You're wrong.

| Why do guys put ask me anything in their profiles? Posted: 4/16/2008 8:31:37 AM | Same reason some girls have two sentences on their profile and saying if you want to know more, you know what do do
Reason: Lack of anything going on inside of the brain. These types of people (men and women) don't really know how to socialize. They just want to be asked questions because they don't have the slightest clue of how to have a conversation. I've seen people say, well it a personal choice that I don't want to write allot in my profile, won't leave much to say after words. I'm sorry, I just don't understand how anyone can come to the conclusion that they will run out of things to say. Am I the only one that talks about what I've learned about a person? Wow

Seeing 'ask me anything' on a profile does not bother me too much, but probably means I will not be saying hello. I like to see a little bit of substance in the profile.
The ones that get me are the guys who send the first email, then go, "Ask me anything. What do you want to know?"
I don't want to be rude, but I am at the point where I feel like just saying, "nothing". I like your approach a lot better, Limey!

Wow, you took that awfully personally.
Chill out on the defensiveness there, cupcake.

He's willing to meet you, give you his phone number, meet you in a public place, meet his parents, etc.
I wouldn't read anymore into it that that

| Why do guys put ask me anything in their profiles? Posted: 9/16/2008 4:58:27 PM | One ex-bf (he emailed me through match.com) didn't have the 'ask anything' in his profile but after several months of what I thought was an exclusive & monogamous relationship (he'd told me when we met I was the only woman he was dating, he told me when we started sleeping together that I was the first since his ex-wife) I asked if he was seeing anyone else and the answer was 'yes'. I asked why he hadn't told me before and he said 'I didn't think you cared since you didn't ask'.
My bad - I guess the question I should have asked was 'will you tell me if you decide to start sleeping with someone else BEFORE you start sleeping with her?'
