Your Bucket List
Posted: 1/13/2008 9:00:45 PM

I do not have a list.

I live everyday as it could be my last.

That must be incredibly sad and tiring. I couldn't imagine living every day like I was about to die.

I have done whatever I can to be prepaired for my end and then live my life as normal.

I think maybe what that person was referring to, was the skill to be able to give your very best every day - just in case it was your last. Along the lines of "if it was your last day on earth, would you have any regrets on how you treated people" rather than the "whoa is me, I think today is my last day on earth" line of thought.

Like most people, on the top of my list would be making sure that people I care about know how important they are to me - but that really wasnt the point of the list in the movie and so probably isnt what you're looking for here either. Hmmmm, if money were not an object, I would want to get in a car (nice comfortable one, thank you!) and go on a 3-6 month journey and travel this amazying country from coast to coast. I would stay in B&Bs and just enjoy meeting new people and experiencing a part of their world.

And I have always wanted to see Disneyland - a fantasy of mine ever since I was a little girl sitting in front of the television Sunday evgs while Mom rolled my hair!!

I would start by having sex with as many women as I possibly could.
I would take a trip around the world, and put myself at least an extra 10,000 in debt.
I would sky-dive.
I would scuba-dive.
I would try to amass enough money to go into outer space and take a picture of planet earth with my cell phone. I read that planet earth looks amazing from outer space.
I would get married.
I would try to have children.
I would maybe write a book.
I would ride a motorcycle from Canada to Guatemala.
I would hire a private investigator to find my father and try to re-establish contact. Maybe he would be rich and would fund my trip to outer space.
Speaking of outer space, I would have sex in outer space. You can do a lot of crazy things out there since there's no gravity.

Eh, that's about it.

I saw the movie last weekend and enjoyed it very much. I live a bucket list. I move frequently to jobs and places I love. I travel extensively and enjoy the good things in life at bargain prices. The most recent addition to my bucket list is going bob sledding at the Olympic Park in Calgary (pray for me lol). I have been to Paris and saw the Mona Lisa. I have gone zip lining in Costa Rica. I have kissed the Blarney Stone. I love my life. I moved to Edmonton for the job of my dreams, however I have many dream jobs and I may be heading to Africa next, if all goes as planned. Loving life, keeping it simple and taking risks all add up to adventure. Even a walk in a park can be an adventure if you open your eyes and ears. I wish the best to everyone who visits this site and happy bucket listing!

I could die right now and have absolutely no regrets. I'm young, and unfortunately fulfilling that bucket list has taken it's toll on my body, but it was sooo worth it. My 2nd job (and hopefully my career in a couple years) is riding a motorcycle, how cool is that?

I won't lie, there are various other items that I know may or may not ever get filled.. such as flying a fighter jet and being in a threesome but hey... you can't have it all can you?

I'm in a different situation then most on this forum. I died as a result of a post-op complication and was brought back and nearly died a second time shortly thereafter.

Now, I wake for each and every sunrise and am happy and grateful every day that I'm there to watch it. An event like you own death clears all the bulls*it and really lets you focus on what matters. It also really grounds you as a human being and and gives you a better understanding as to what is just superficial and what isn't.

Doing is not nearly as crucial in the human experience as simply living. I "live" and enjoy each and every day. I know that sometime in the not to distant future , I may not see the next sunrise, so I'm just glad to see the beauty of each new day as it begins. From that moment forward...it's all a bonus.

This reminds me of the movie Stepmom with Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon, love that movie!

I have no desire to go bungee jumping or diving out of a moving plane... No thanks.

I think for me it would be to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible, to be with my kids every waking moment, making sure they knew beyond a doubt that I love them as much as humanly possible, and then some.

Hopefully by that point, I'd have a partner that I loved more then I thought possible, and vice versa, and we'd pack up the kids (mine, and if they had some, theirs too!) and travel. I'd love to see New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, Tibet, the Amazon, places like that. Of course, one would have to have the resources to do that, and unlike others, I'd NOT put myself into debt for something like this, not if my kids would have to suffer because of it!

I'd like to think I'm pretty realistic and down to earth, my last days would not be extravagant, they'd be spent with the people I loved the most and making memories happen. I'd love to travel, for sure, with my loved ones, but in the end, i'd just want to spend as much time as possible loving the people I love.

I saw the Bucket List as well, and I bawled like a baby, loved the movie!

Living every day to the fullest as if it's your last is definitely NOT SAD at all. It's fantastic, fabulous, exciting, energizing, adventur0us, and it may be tiring but doesn't have to be if you don't want it to be. It's called "living life" not "waiting to die" like most people are doing each moment. Until something happens in your life to "awaken" your senses, you won't understand. Living a "normal" life is living the carbon copy of so many other people's lives. Like clones, or drones walking on the right side afraid to try the left. Be adventurous, and do what you feel you would like to try and experience. That way you'll never say "I wish I had done ....." or "I wish I had said ......" ! What's the point of regretting never doing or saying something? Such a waste! Every day I think to myself, what's my next adventure or challenge and feel so alive! Take care all, and HUGS!

Living each day to your fullest and best capability, is not sad....it means you are enjoying life. Stay positive. Live your dreams. I'm a musician, my dream would be to pack up and leave Edmonton and travel the world and work with musicians around the globe. I too was very ill early on in life, and struggled for many years with health issues, and am living reasonably well today...I cherish what I have in my life already...we all have our ups and downs...but make the most of what you have.

if i knew i was going to die, i'd play the sport i love till it was done, start to end no matter the pain, play the best game ever, then retire my kit and go out with a bang, celebrate not as if i was about to die, but to celebrate my life and the things i have done. (may sound lame, but its the friends i have had all these years in this sport that keep me getting back up, and teaching me to be the best in everything i can be).

i wouldnt want to fade away in a bed, id rather go out as if i was walking into the sun and never walk back. have everything, leave nothing.

if i had kids id set them up so well in life and have them remember their father and what i would teach them. i can even leave that to a song "3 wooden crosses- randy travis".

"He's basically shut down.. very depressed... and has given me cause to think about how I might deal with this news in my life."

How long has it been? My wife crawled into a deep depression after getting out of the hospital. (It took six weeks to get out the first time). But after a week and a half in a moody hole, she came through the other side and held the rest of us together for the remaining three months.

I would have my 'memorial service' prior to passing and turn it into a party as opposed to a depressing event. Then go quietly.

I would try my best to make every interaction with every person a positive one. Make sure the people I love, know it without a doubt.

Well...

I would talk to all I was close to, and give them a chance to resolve any issues they had with me, not just then, but giving them a chance to consider and discuss it with me before "bucket time".. I would also forgive them any thing they felt needed forgiving .. (in reality, I don't got to manyof those.. that I know of)

I would spend some time making sure my departure created no adverse affects for those remaining (taking care of will, throwing out the sex toys, etc)

I would be sure to finanace a big party for my "wake".. my idea is fireworks with my ashes mixed in.. (sure they would be mostly dull yellow,,, so sue me)

If we were a few decades into the future, it would be a co-ordinated meteor shower , with my creamated remains re-enetering atmosphere at surpra-orbital velocities, at right time, place and insertion.. instead of fireworks

Video message of encouragement to my friends and family, telling them to find more and more joy.

final day.. strap a claymore mine to my chest and hug the worst **stard I ever met... (I have a guy in mind)...

Regards
Kjoe

I have not had a near death or death experience but I have taken care of my mother and husband while they were sick and eventually died. It is a humbling feeling and I am honoured to have had the experience in doing so. It has made me realise that life is for the living and you must live life to the fullest...it is short so get on with it and don't say I've always wanted to do that..... do it...do it now....tomorrow may never come...on this earth anyway. Be happy and really try to see the good in all things. Take care of what really matters....each other. Take time to look around at the beauty that surrounds you...there is never one sunset or sunrise the same....I've always said it's a good day when I can get out of bed and my feet touch the floor and I'm alive! Give a smile away someone may need it.

This is weird.... but I always wanted to write a screenplay with my partner over a weekend at a nice weekend retreat. I think the collaboration would be an intellectual turn on.
