| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/6/2008 7:53:24 PM | Aye, I was in Haarlem last fall and it was quite expensive for meals...but all those fit figures on bicycles...mmmm....too busy to be eating!
I think i'll going to focus on more social or active dates...sometimes getting to know someone can be more challenging when much of the time is spent with food in our mouths...unless we have a 2 hour 'meeting/date' the first time!
I like babybleuz comment...if you've barely exchanged communication it should be a 'dutch' meeting as it's not really a date...I met someone the other night for coffee, which she suggested and had a great time...now sure if she felt the chemistry but I enjoyed our conversation for 30 minutes.
So men, set the ground rules prior to asking....and if you meet for a coffee date and it turns into you asking them for dinner...it's on your dime unless she wants to split it.
Ladies have you ever asked a guy out for dinner? :)

Just Do It. | |

| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/6/2008 9:43:32 PM | Hey, finger in a dyke and wooden shoes. Easy! If I ask a lady to dinner I try to pay. If I make plans and find myself short before the event I let the lady know. I have paid more than gone dutch in the past. It is funny that the ladies I seem to care the most about, I have the least $$ when we are together. Fate is cruel that way. | |

| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/6/2008 11:18:33 PM | | I've asked men out to dinner. Only one would let me pick up the whole bill. | |
|
| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/6/2008 11:35:16 PM | Just ask Ali, I will let you pay! I am fortunate enough to get restaurant gift cards as tips and bonuses at work. I am holding on to Roy's and Fleming's $75 each and 2 $15 at TGIF. I also have a night at Riviera Resort and Spa, over looking Laguna Beach, if anyone is interested.

| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/6/2008 11:39:22 PM | | Did it include a large soft drink, Ali? He didn't end up down an elevator shaft after that, did he? | |
|
| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/6/2008 11:41:45 PM | Believe me. He got the shaft alright.
You only get a small soft drink. They're refillable!
|
| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/7/2008 6:10:01 AM | ^^^ Gives "he got the shaft" a new meaning.
So, I've got to ask. Does he get fries with that?
|
| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/8/2008 11:07:49 PM | OK Ali, you can pay the whole bill this time. Does that include the lap dances too? Oh, wait. Scratch that last question.

| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/9/2008 5:48:01 PM | Lap Dances? Paying for or performing?
I don't make change.
A girl's gotta have those standards boys.

| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/9/2008 10:30:19 PM | Lap Dances? Paying for or performing? Oh you're such a sweetie! Let's see, I choose payin...no, no, performing. Woo-hoo! And I won't ask you to change a thing.
Just let me settle down on this foot-in-mouth couch first. OK. I'm ready.

| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/10/2008 8:24:55 AM | | It's funny how this is such a heated topic on a free dating site. | |
|
| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/11/2008 11:03:17 PM | | I think offering to go dutch, especially on a first meeting, is fine. I always offer to pay my own; if the person I am meeting offers to pay I say thank you and let them pay. A few times I even picked up the whole tab...doesn't bother me a bit. If the dating continues with the same person what is wrong with switching off back and forth with who pays? | |
|
| How to go Dutch Posted: 1/11/2008 11:50:12 PM | | I don't think the Dutch know anything about a California woman. There is no Dutchman at the date to explain to the California girl that she's allowed to pay if she'd so choose. So under the circumstances, I'll pay. | |
