| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 2/25/2008 11:34:13 PM | ....I don't take naps very often but I sure could have used one today. Sometimes even if I don't sleep, just closing my eyes and resting for 10 or 15 minutes refreshes me. I'm seriously thinking of getting a recliner for the office for those that want a few minutes rest...of course they'll have to wait their turn.

Did so today before my jog this PM.

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 2/28/2008 3:23:08 AM | | I nap several afternoons a week. Of course I rarely retire before midnight, get up three or four times a night to pee and finally get out of bed before 7 am. I think I deserve my naps. | |

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 2/28/2008 6:56:31 PM | Afternoon naps are okay for anyone, regardless of their age. I'll often crash on the couch for anywhere from twenty to thirty minutes after dinner and then I'm rarin' to go, but that's usually after a hard day's work renovating a place, or playing golf!~

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 2/29/2008 1:27:11 PM | Last Sunday I nodded off at 11 am, and didn't I just feel better and 'full of beans' for the rest of the day?! I wish I could follow the call of my body & mind at any time during the week, I can only wish ... Whether naps happen in am or pm ... they are wonderful boosters! | |

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 3/3/2008 11:23:05 AM | | Oh, gosh, I take naps. Is that bad? I work an evening shift. Get home at midnight, go to bed around 2 or 3 am. Get the kids off to school at 7 am. Try to get a 2 hour nap in the morning if I have to work that day. Or in the afternoon before the kids come home, if I dont have to go in to work. Though sometimes it is just a lazy day at home and I will nap on the sofa, watching TV. | |

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 3/3/2008 4:13:56 PM | | President Kennedy took a quick nap every day to keep up with the stress. It worked for him. I sometimes doze off just before evening. I wake up feeling better than I did that morning. If it works for you then great. Our bodies have a way of telling us when we need to eat and sleep. | |

| Napping after work--or midday Posted: 5/14/2008 10:39:54 PM | I could have used a "power nap" several times the past few months--and I considered going out to my car to do just that...the workplace doesn't offer the privacy of my own office, but they would have been ahead to let/encourage me doze off completely for 15 or 20 minutes--it's either allergies or Benadyrl.
However, are over 50 folks in the habit of taking a nap at home--is the TV just a "cover" for snoozing on the couch? I think back on several guys, who would crash on my couch or their LaZboy--and I was sitting bewildered as they snored...is this typical then?

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 5/15/2008 6:28:16 PM | The only bad time for an afternoon nap is if you're in the middle of an afternoon date
Of course, if you're with someone who makes you sleepy, consider it a blatant statement that the gig is up -- Gone

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 5/15/2008 7:57:19 PM | A nap at any age is a good thing. Science has proven we function better with a quickie in the afternoon...

Then there are the people who don't let stress and the bs of life get them down, so they naturally have lots on energy, and don't have to hide from life to get some peace.
Imagine getting sanctimonious about not taking naps
Some of us don't sleep 8 hours a night; we go to bed late and get up early so a quick nap in the afternoon helps keep us going.
They've done studies to see what people's sleep patterns would be like without clocks, light, etc. - no way to tell the time. In that environment, people sleep at night but also have a nap around mid-afternoon every day. Conclusion: we're built to take naps.

Worked in a firm in Oklahoma City years ago, and one senior partner had a thing going with a legal assistant vamp, who wore his badge, and terrorized the rest of us. They would leave the office together shortly after 11 a.m., and return around 2 p.m. Coulda been a nap, but we called it funch.

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 9/19/2008 6:46:46 AM | | I've always been a napper. There are entire villages in Italy that shut down for a couple of hours each day for a nap. I will nap usually for 20-30 minutes. I've even been known to go nap in my car during my lunch hour. I set my cell phone alarm, recline the seat and go for it. I feel much more energetic after that. | |

I've always been a napper. There are entire villages in Italy
Aren't there entire countries on the Iberian peninsula that enjoy a siesta, whatever that entails? Hafta figure that the practice is widespread in Latin America as well.

| are afternoon naps ok once over 45 Posted: 9/22/2008 11:21:13 AM | Napping in your car at lunch hour? OMG! lol And here I thought I was the only one guilty of that! Especially if I have been up late the nite before. Gives me just the lil "boost" that I need to continue on with my day! So I say...hoorah for naps!!! | |
