| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:00:53 AM | Re msg 23. Power tools come in pink too nowadays. Diy always works for me. Just get em to go to the loo or fix a coffee if shy! Tis true though, good thread. Mucho PoF men get mail asking for shelving help etc and dont take it as a direct chatup line ladees, even though I explain I think that is the intention. Bit like some of their msn 15mm euphemisms for a bunch of flowers! Bless! | |

I agree, there's nothing worse than all that 'left a bit, right a bit, faster, slower' nonsense. Far easier to do it yourself. Easier perhaps. But as much fun?
Depends on whether he is a quick learner or not.

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 1/8/2008 6:37:23 AM | | As stated in my profile, I cannot abide DIY in any shape sense or form, and if there is a man available and up to the challenge then he is welcome to try his hand, however for perfection I find doing it myself the quickest and most satisfying, plus it saves all the mess that comes with a males efforts.. | |

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/7/2008 7:08:05 PM | | Speaking from my own experiences, after buying or hiring all those essential (to us blokes) tools you need to do that little job, i usually feel that i might as well have paid for a tradesman to do the work. | |
|
| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/7/2008 7:53:10 PM | Diy at the moment, although i may be asking a man to help soon.... been a while!
I would not pay a tradesmen! really not happy about the entrance they use! ;)

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/8/2008 9:07:27 AM | Most stuffs do-able if you take the time to have a go alot easier if someone can show you a bit first. Admittedly I have had to put right a fair few bodges some by over enthusiastic DIYers and others is just dodgey builders. If you can do it yourself you might aswell. | |

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/8/2008 12:18:43 PM | Yes most stuff is do-able!, i do like to take my time and i am quite happy for someone to show me their little bit first :) . I do tend to give it a good go myself, but i do think it would be a lot more interesting being shown some new tricks by someone that knows how to do a good job! .

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/9/2008 2:05:02 AM | i'm pretty good with most jobs around the house...
i have, in the past, put up my own architrave, mended countless 'sticky' door handles, laid carpet and lino, have become adept at mending dodgy toilet flushes, and put all flatpack furniture together myself...
the one thing that i will never ever attempt is anything that involves drilling...don't know why, but the drill scares me to death...

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/9/2008 2:09:14 AM | am not the best, I can paint that's about it - have a man who does the garden for me every fortnight and he does locksmith stuff too so I suspect I could call on him in an emergency.
Have not had much call to do anything else in the last two years but I can deal with spiders as long as my hoover's working (hate the bu88ers) though I'd much rather not !!

| DIY or ask a man to help? Posted: 5/9/2008 2:45:01 AM | I've learnt to do pretty much everything myself. Living with a builder for years helped as I picked up quite a bit from him!! I also have a large DIY manual! My one let down is flat-pack furniture. I am an intelligent lady... but I always manage to get one or several bits of it wrong! I read the instructions thoroughly.... follow the exactly...and still get it wrong!! Hence quite a few things in my house are wobbly or wonky or have something on the wrong way lol I've mastered going up in the loft and to the tip.... and being a female going into a builders merchants is handy as they fall over themselves to help you out to you car with wood etc. Spiders are the worst thing.... I admit I did have to get a male friend to go into the deepest parts of my shed so I could clear it out! Neighbours thought I was insane when they saw me hoovering my shed lol | |

no he mentioned he does locks too (did manage to lock myself out once and had to call on my ex for help) but I suspect he might be able to turn his hand to other stuff. Not making it sound any better am I?
