| do men shower? Posted: 1/6/2008 10:49:34 PM | With a very rare exception I shower daily and it is not unusual to shower twice if I've been quite active working up a good sweat. With respect to some previous posts I also floss daily and brush teeth at least twice a day. My hygiene is pretty good I think.
On the matter of how to deal with people that don't meet your standards, its a tough one, esp. if we like the person otherwise.
I did read that we humans produce pheromones that naturally attract mates of the opposite gender and regular washing/showering keeps the pheromone levels low than Mother Nature intended. So it isn't unreasonable to think that some people might decide to let the pheromones build up for a bit but don't realize how stinky they've become.
Reminds me of a school mate long ago. Apparently he wasn't one to to shower or bathe regularly, likely due to his home being off the town water supply and getting water from the creek, which was frozen during the long cold winters. I remember we'd be playing basketball in gym class and whenever he came to check the foul smell triggered by him working up a sweat wafted over us it was all we could do not just give up and let him have the ball just to get away from it. His nickname... "Skunk!"
On a side note.... I have buddy who visits my home and I don't hear him using the sink to wash his hands after using the toilet... and don't know how to handle that one and keep him as a friend. I'm not into posting a public health notice in my bathroom but must admit have considered it. Any useful suggestions would be appreciated.... I did say 'useful'.

| do men shower? Posted: 1/6/2008 10:59:31 PM | ^^^^all wasn't it just xmas??? he should still be fresh what's wrong with bubble bath ?
OP, some people do have very strong BO even if they do wash/shower so if it is a co-worker, friend... maybe a discrete word may be the answer
|
| do men shower? Posted: 1/6/2008 11:09:59 PM | Since he is a friend, you can probably try this, when you know he is visiting, don’t put a hand towel in the toilet. When he excuse himself to use the washroom, say if he needs to wipe his hands after he washes, he can use tissue paper.
About the topic, it's a big factor when a guy smells good but like it natural just I know he is clean or a bit of a scent of cologne.

Therein lies the problem. I don't think it a matter of him using the towel. He doesn't use the sink... well I don't hear water running. Just tinkle and flush, and out he comes.
Any man who uses public bathrooms knows this is not uncommon. I just wish it didn't happen in my home and with my dishes, my furniture, my door knobs, etc.

| do men shower? Posted: 1/6/2008 11:20:53 PM | ^^^ see your point, but apparently and according to reliable tests the bathrooms and door knobs are more hygienic than most kitchen counter tops... LOL | |

| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:14:13 AM | Somewhere on the "is your spouse abusive" questionnaire given at some women's shelters is:
Does your partner force you to have intercourse with him....when he hasn't showered or bathed in days or weeks?
It's a good indication that if a man doesn't care about himself, where in the world is he going to find the time or the decency to care about YOU.
If I date a guy who doesn't shower or take care of himself....I'm outta there.

| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:36:04 AM | ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!
I thought a good hot shower was something most of us Enjoyed! YUK!
Granted there are peeps who seem to think they are allergic to soap and water (my little sister tried to tell our mom that when she was only 4 or 5!! lol < Maybe I'm just not getting close enough to get a whif - but I think most men (and women) shower regular, esp before a date! OMG tell me its a fact!!
There are people who have a "condition" that makes them "stink" no matter what they do. Minutes after having a shower and applying lots of 'stinky' stuff to cover their own 'stinky' stuff.. they 'stink'! I forget what the 'condition' is called, BUT apparently it can be treated. I've known 2 people afflicted by this embarassing condition. One hs been successfully treated and is now married to a wonderful man (she is a woman! sheesh..).. The other, well I only dated him a short while many many moons ago. I couldn't get past his odor and he was in denial about it. Bye Bye! lol
Still.. How do you tell someone their smell is offensive? I mean if its a cologne that's easy "OMG hate to tell you this, but I just can't handle that cologne!" ... Axe definitely comes to mind! Those women in the commercials are not "attacking" those men for no reason! Yeah - I said "attacking", you didn't think they all wanted to take him home to momma.. didya? Axe the Axe! lol
OK.. I'm gonna google around to see if I can find an article on that b.o. condition.
Smell ya later!

| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 1:41:10 PM | I shower at least daily and always smell fresh and clean. so pick me, pick me! | |
|
| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 1:56:17 PM | | I shower twice a day, in the morning and after the gym. I therefore do not need deodorant or other masking agents, like perfume. I also don't have to put on a face every time I shower, in and out in under five minutes. | |

| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:05:15 PM | | at first i thought it sounds like the OP is working with a smelly person ..ok ..draw straws and decide who is going to tell him and give him some shaveing lotion or something along that line with some lasting power to splash on at work .but as far as dateing a smelly person ..??well try and get them into a drug store with you if they have a condition ..just be honest.. | |
|
| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:09:43 PM | NSSP: Oh but a good sponge in the shower is what a stinky guy really needs, don't you think? Have you ever seen men shower? A pass with the soap and rinse rinse...all done.
A little bit of rough sponge in their pits and between their Dirty Harry asscheeks would solve most stinky guy issues for sure...
|
| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:12:26 PM | | ,,its a lot easier to stay clean with a nice little women washing ones back...but ??a big back scrubber sea spong will work as well ..as far as washing the rest ? they say if you shake it more then twice after a piss your playing with it ..so yes the added supervision in that scrubbing department is needed indeed ..and thumper men dont mind the help..if we think there is a chance someone is going to be possibly going down there .. | |
|
| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:15:51 PM | ^^^ I agree with Anicca on this one...
most men don't wash properly... a little soap here a scrub there...then all done...
what's up with that?
you guys need to scrub a lot better down there before anyone else is going down there...
did I just turn this into a sex thread?

| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:35:31 PM | Hmmm, based on what I'm reading above I'm compelled to say this.
If all you fine gals with great ideas of just how men should wash and scrub to your satisfaction are offering personal lessons in hygiene please just say so. No doubt you'll get a eager queue of volunteers. There are few areas a tad hard to reach ourselves.
Of course you can expect reciprocation.

| do men shower? Posted: 1/7/2008 7:02:57 PM | Post 21 - Sponge - you are not doing yourself any favors by always having to have the last word. Sometimes you just have to let things go. Surely, you can do better than to parrot me.
And the only way she is coming into my shower is to sponge it up the excess water. Sorry, it was just too good to resist. I know you have a sense of humor, Sponge. (Please note the spelling of too in the above sentence.)
I extend the olive branch to you, too. Let's give peace a chance.
Cheers | |
