| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 2/29/2008 6:34:00 AM | I voted for Senator Hillary Clinton. If she doesn't win, come November I will most likely vote for McCain. It's going to be a close race but I'm praying that Hillary will take Texas.
I don't like Obama. There is something about him that I don't trust.

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 2/29/2008 7:35:07 AM | Thank you, southernlass… you have supported my point. Elections seem more about popularity, an emotional concern, than any issue… and we’re back in high school all over again! Now, I don’t say any of this to be cruel… just making observations… maybe it simply is the way it is? Over the years, I have taken many political tests and such – the results usually point me to the Green Party. But would I ever vote for one of them? Hell NO! These candidates all seem like wackos to me (still, I admire Ralph Nader for his other efforts). And that is my emotional response.
Now questioning any politician’s sincerity? About the only time I believe a politician is when they say they need our money or when an arch-conservative says that they’re going to vote to undermine Roe v Wade. Actually, Ron Paul seems sincere to me, I like him and seem to agree with many things he has to say, but, like the Green candidates, he seems a bit wacko… but very entertaining!

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 2/29/2008 9:21:37 AM | Being outspoken, but really reluctant to post my thoughts ,I have to take a step forward saying ,I don't like the slant people have put on this election. The media and the public have slanted it so freaking bad It's obvious the real issues will never be writen about nor will they ever superseed the words the media have pinned on each candidate . "THE FIRST"!
It's obvious most people have no idea the issues that should be and have to be addressed for this country to regain self respect and respect from our allies and our enemies . Our allies have basically broke their commitment in every aspect to us. Our enemies have absolutely no respect ,nor do they fear our military.
The one thing I do despise about this election is ;I'm getting soooooo sick of hearing, if Hillary is elected she will be the" FIRST" lady president or if Obama is elected he will be the "FIRST"Black,or if McCain ,he'll be the "FIRST" to be over 70.
What the hell does being the first of anything mean if the person can't tell the truth and know he or she cannot fulfill a third of the promises they're delivering to people in their deceitful mesages.
Does it matter who is or who isn't as long as the "RIGHT" person is elected and not the "FIRST" person elected?
When President Reagan was elected he was the oldest, but nobody then tagged him as the "FIRST" of anything . However,he was the first to lay an egg on Libya and he was the first to be straight from Death Valley and the 20 mule team. "HA" Under his administration I accepted my "FIRST" layoff from what now is the worlds largest gas and oil firm. "FIRST "
I tell ya folks ,"FIRST isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Think about the pressure the "FIRST" will have laid on them ,not only by the public, but the media is going to play havoc the "FIRST" time the "FIRST' craps out and he or she will make their "FIRST" blunder sooner than later.
I'm for having elected Lobbyist,now wouldn't that be a "FIRST" ?
Just roll the dice folks and hope like hell ya don't snake eye out.,or crap out! All three canidates are the FIRST," but not the "FIRST to lie.

Thank you, southernlass… you have supported my point. Elections seem more about popularity, an emotional concern, than any issue…
Well, you're quite welcome, HowdidIgetHere. The fact is that every time I state what really bothers me about Barack Hussein Obama at length, citing the "issues" and my issues with him in particular, my posts and the threads where people are taking issue with him appear to be immediately deleted after we express our concerns. This has got me a little gunshy about expressing my opinion at length and I've been attempting to keep my proverbial cyber mouth shut in that regard.
Furthermore, have you noticed the media bias as well? That's just unbelievably unfair and it sickens me. The media has no right to sway an election and consistently talk smack about one candidate and downgrade her and then turn and talk up the other side on a literal twenty four hour basis.
Most people say that if we don't vote for Barack Obama that we're racist. That's just assumed from the beginning and that's really annoying. Well, I don't care if it's unpopular or not to say that I don't like the Muslim connection in the man I'm choosing for President, regardless if it's a subtle "small" connection to his father and his name or not. I'm a hundred percent for religious freedom, but not when we've had significant issues with the particular religious faction that wants to destroy our country from the inside out and has promised they would do so. When that is the case, no. I prefer a more traditional candidate with an extremely traditional background and upbringing.
I don't like the connection to the all black church that is focused on the all black congregation in my presidential candidate, though I don't care if he is black. It's the fact that he appears to be favoring and focused on those of his own race and that isn't a good thing in someone who might lead all races. I also don't like the "feel good" speeches with no substance, designed to appeal to the youth of America and to those who are disillusioned and depressed by the past and the present happenings in this country. It's going to take a lot more than empty campaign promises and polished up speeches on unity to fix this country. A hell of a lot more. Anyone can spout that crap.
I could go on and on about the issues that I take issue with regarding Barack Obama. And there are many. Suffice it to say though that I honestly do not feel very many people care at this point. They are going to elect what they feel is right for the good ole' USA. Here in Texas, what is gonna be is gonna be no matter what I feel. I have done my part and will do it again in November. Then I'm going to sit back and hang on for the ride, however this matter turns out.

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 2/29/2008 7:12:05 PM | It's just the primary. I had to be a Democrat to vote early for Hillary Clinton. I'm Republican. Barack Obama talks too much, a person who talks a lot usually doesn't do much. | |

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/1/2008 5:01:22 AM | Yes I have noticed on here that if you get a little too deep it is deleted. But that is not just Obama it can be anything. I was 100% behind Clinton until she discredited Martin Luther King for Civil Rights movement, and she has been too negative. She was the first to become negative and there was no reason for that. Yes, I have noticed the bias in the media, but honestly as a African American it does feel good for a change to see an African American in a positve manner and not being degraded or shamed when majority of us go to work and are vital parts of the community, but do not get the respect in the media. And yes as a community we are nervous for him because when we do succeed many times the media finds joy in destryoing us a s well. If elected the first thing he does wrong will cause him to be removed from office, but Bush (lets not go there). I do understand the plight of women in the country and it is being shown that people still prefer a male over a female, but my concern was not race or gender I lost respect for Clinton when she became negative, emotional and belittled the civil rights movement. I am sorry. If Obama is not nominated unless she chooses him as a running mate I will vote for McCain. I am not the only African American that has switched camps. She had a our vote. She lost it. | |

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/1/2008 5:56:35 PM | as much as I hate to see it happen, cause I'll not vote for him. O Bama is going to win the election setting fourth a chain of events that are inevidable.
there are too many radicals in this country to ever let O Bama take office, so I see a great chance that someone will probably pop him in the head, with a fatal head injury, but he will not die, he will survive and come back as the ANTI CHRIST.
|
| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/1/2008 10:59:09 PM | | that was harsh Midnite but as my son and Faith's son and maybe even yourself have stood for... the freedom to choose such words... we have a great country and a system to disperse of any who promise to uphold it and dont! God Bless America! | |
|
| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/2/2008 5:18:24 AM | Midnite's words do not hurt. Many African Americans are afraid he will be shot at or even lynched by the media.
Last night I prayed Psalms 21 for our country and our leaders.
I am proud of Obama, but I am afraid for him. I am not alone.
Now the Anti-Christ thing is a little extreme, but once again being an African American. I am use to that.
The only way slavery was justified we had to be demonized or told we did not have a soul. It is sad, but many people still believe that to this day. This does not make me sad. It is just part of our history. Just like the Irish, Jews, Asians and Hispanics have been dehuminzed in this country. It is a sad part of US history.
Clintons presence is important because of the womens suffferege movement in the turn of the last century. I just lost respect for her. I believe we should have a women. Just not her. We need a strong, calm non negative woman.
At least we are talking. Our great grandparents would not believe their eyes or ears.

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/2/2008 9:57:54 AM | The way I read his words, midnitewind merely pointed-out a possibility and said that he would hate to see it happen. And while I do agree that there are wackos and radicals out there who would contemplate or even attempt such a heinous act, I believe that Barack will never sit in the Oval Office. Then again, I was a Dukakis supporter. | |

midnitewind : I have over 30 yrs of Bibical study and background not to mention the positions I've held in churches. I'm not about to debate or argue what you claim as the one man that probably will get popped in the head but will not die for the purpose of rising up as the ANTI CHRIST, but please inform me where you got your information.
Midnitewind, sir, I cannot do anything but laugh at your suggestion that Mr Obama will likely get a pop to his head but won't die...
During elections the past 50 yrs suggestions from some have been identical to what you posted here. I think it was suggested Hitler was the Anti Christ and Joseph Stalin,Vladimir Lenin and Nikita Khrushchev, so where does the speculation end? And the people get their stuff together and focus on making this country better even with the problems that do exist.
It might be that there is a possibilty Mr Obama might be in harms way,but to suggest he is Satan incarnate is going way too far.
It just ain't going to happen!

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/2/2008 7:41:40 PM | yes, the "we love obama" media is counting hillary out too quick.......tho she probably soon will be out.
My problems with Obama are simple........the only thing he has really promised us is change......but him being a liberal, I know he will raise taxes so he can put in place more liberal money give away programs
its called change, because thats all you will have left out of your paycheck.......the change

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/3/2008 7:17:16 AM | At this point, It would appear Obama will likely be the next president. How would he be as president? From a domestic standpoint Obama is clearly a liberal promising and meaning more government and more taxes. Not much to ponder about that. From the shady dealings quotent, this morning, the press actually confronted him on his ties to his buddy who's corruptuion trial starts today. Obama avoided every question and tried to deflect the rhetorical aspects of the questions to Clinton. Pretty feeble and transparent. If Obama becomes president, he will cetainly have lots of baggage. That leaves foreign policy. I have studied Obama's foreign policy comments to see how they stack up with recent presidents to get some idea how an Obam admin will fare. The closest I can find is actually dubya BEFORE 9/11. He promised a disengagement from middle east turmoil just as Obama does now and actually practiced that until 9/11. Some equate Obama with Kennedy and I do see some parallels but only history will tell. Kennedy was also questioned about his religious background yet was very charismatic. In practice, he abandoned Cubam allies in a fight againts communism leaving the door open to soviet nukes at our back door. That led us very near to nuclear war and left a soviet stronghold in this hemisphere. He left that with an agreement that was a virtual surrender for Cuba to be an untouchable surragate communist army in such places as Angola. He then committed us to a "police" action in Vietnam before his murder. Oh but he was a wonderful president I guess simply because of his charisma. So what allies would Obama abandon in the great conflict of this time period? Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Isreal......... I really wish we had better choices but voters seem to be a lot like potential dates. They will fall for charismatic players long before they find wisom, if they ever find wisdom. | |

You hit it dead center: The one word used in your message charismatic/charisma will be the final blow to this country. Charisma is the commanding and dominating force that motivates certain candidates .
Charm the prey the cobra strikes. The question who should not be president has been clearly answered.

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/3/2008 5:06:53 PM | OP, Obama simply has a different kind of experience, as well as sound judgement and clearly excellent leadership skills. No other candidate has been able to engage the electorate as he has, not to mention run a multi-million dollar campaign with such ease. Like the one of the other posters said, we need someone who is able to bring us all together and Obama has shown that he is able to do that.
Here is the link to his site if you need further information. http://www.barackobama.com/learn/meet_barack.php
Barack the vote TX fishies!

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/3/2008 5:45:20 PM | I wonder if it really make any difference who is elected president? Despite the fact people love to blame the president for all the ills our country suffers, he/she only has limited power.
It appears all the candidates talk a good game with valid issues and superficially good plans, but the reality is that there is no way all these things can be implemented in 4 yrs. Bills have to be introduced, debated, investigated, debated again, and then voted on by both the House and the Senate. Then hopefully, it isn't vetoed. By the time they've argued, negotiated, and compromised, the original bill can't even be recognized.
For the first time in my adult life, I don't think my vote counts. It appears that someone with rock star status, or someone with an agenda to circumvent the 2 term mandate, or someone, who because of age, may not live to serve out his term will be our next president. How sad for the people of this great nation.

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/3/2008 5:52:55 PM | Brandie46, Hypothetically speaking; I'm a very devout conservative Republican. Obama is a very devout liberal . Please tell us how Mr Obama and his ability can bring us altogether. Hypothetically I'm against abortion,I'm against being forced to have insurance ,and Hypotheically I'm against bringing our Miliatry home from Iraq.
How can Mr Obama bring people like me together with people that are for abortion, forced to carry insurance and bringing our troops home from Iraq. Oh,not to mention Foreign trade that has put the US in a deep hole.
I'm pretty sure the next President will be a Demo with a Demo house and senate so the deck is already stacked against the conservatives.
The Muliti-Million dollar campaign just might be tainted. The media finally got the nerve to put the radar on his underlying and for the most part unknown friendship with a corrupt man that's on trial now.

| Presidential Election (What do you think) Posted: 3/4/2008 7:49:28 PM | | In my part of town, the Democrats in my precinct have their shindig in the middle of a tax payer funded apartment project built against local protest on the orders of a federal judge. Those who protested its construction were threatened with discrimination charges if they so much as signed a petition against it. The idea was to employ those who would live there in the local economy but the reality is that illegals got the minimum skill jobs as being bilingual is a valid requirement for employment, being a citizen is not. There is not enough parking in the project for more than a few outsiders and a lot of people would not feel safe there anyway, especially after dark. The publicans actually use the popular vote cast at a local public school instead of the strange after party caucus scheme in such a crime zone. I wonder if a former civil rights attorney would win in such a situation? I guess the results in such caucuses will tell. Stay tuned for results tomorrow if they can figure them out. | |
