| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/10/2008 8:35:49 PM | LOL - good point, OLT4U. But in defense of PMS sufferers (and I'd like to point out that I never experienced any kind of PMS until I turned 40 - damn middle age!), I'd like to say that it's really no fun to go from "I love you, baby" to "I WILL DESTROY YOU!" in less time than it takes a school of piranhas to skeletonize a cow.
Totally off-topic, but how exactly do scientists know how long it takes a school of piranhas to skeletonize a cow? How often does one *find* a cow in, say, the Amazon?

PMS: 'P'utting up with 'M'en's 'S'hyt
Sure
You supply the thread and I'll sew up the banning of it LOL

President Roosevelt back in 1913 wrote about it when the locals forced a cow in to show him the effects of a piranha.... cows are found in the Amazon area... but understand the 0-60 change with PMS...some are effected more than others...

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/10/2008 8:58:05 PM | I find this stuff about the cold very strange...
I get sick once a year, during the onset of winter. It's a cold. I just go to school anyway, and laugh it off.
And I'm supposed to be the wimpy dorky kid, but here are all these mens' men who apparently go into mush mode when they get sick?
Where am I not never supposed to be un-confused? What does that even MEAN?

Course... I admit, that I'm not above playing it up a bit for some sympathy. Uhmm... thats when it gets pathetic. Call me heartless but when a guy gets all little boyish and wants me to be his mummy looking after him when he is sick it just turns me off.. I'm happy to look after him when he really is sick, but when he has a little cold and is being pathetic and whiney and making the little whimpering noises, then he'll find himself looking after himself.

Posted: 1/11/2008 7:28:22 AM | Well, at least my X a cold, jeez you would think that we was on his death bed and WHINY and SURLEY catered on and babied just like my babies Would blow his nose like was flushing a fire hose and rip klenex out of the box by handfulls any of us feeling the same way, too bad
Stomach flu - OMG - he said that he was dying and that no one could ever survive this and that I had to get him some medicine to cure it. BTW - I was 5 months pregnant and caring for our 2 year old who had the stomach flu.

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 7:35:59 AM | Oh she is sooo right! I blame mothers....let that little boy whine on the couch for hours...my mother was guilty of it. I try not to with my boys, but probably have on occassion, so take full responsibility. But one thing I tell my boys...I can't take a day off from being Mom when I am sick...so unless you are running a fever and can't function you still have responsibilities. Harsh..maybe...but every time they get the sniffles they are not going to take it out on me. Love my babies, but come on.
I have yet to meet a man who does not whine and complain when he is sick...doesn't matter age...I work as a nursing assistant, and have seen it all.

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 7:39:53 AM | If I was a male, and married this woman...and one day I got a seriuos sickness (physical) gosh, i know she'd be out the door in a speed of light...
You know who is PATHETIC....???? SHE IS....
Being a nurse, I just can't comprehend this concept...

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 8:12:41 AM | Yes, It is true, after working in the Emergency room for over 10 years, I can tell you that men between the ages of 28- 42 are the worst.....give or take a few years.
Also, on a side note... if men had to give birth the world would be empty. ~T~

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 9:05:25 AM | | Great, another thread full of sweeping generalizations and gender bashing. The women posting here make it quite obvious that it's just not "manly" to complain. Is it just normal and more acceptable when a woman does it? | |

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 9:57:11 AM | Boomstrike..... well that is just the way it is. Sorry to say. Just making an observation to what I have witnessed. People make generalizations all of the time.

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 10:07:45 AM | Boomstrike...it is not a sweeping generalization. The op asked for our experiences. We provided them. I don't say there aren't women who are exactly like this, but the op as women if they knew specifically about men.
I personally, after giving birth to three kids, compare all pain to that. 10 being full blown labor with no drugs, is my base ...anything else falls below that. Just a fact of life.
It would be the same if a man had a severe accident, like my father did, where he lost a finger. He compares all pain to that one even because it was so traumatic.

Men I know do tend to turn into wimps when they are sick. Winie and complain constantly. the difference being that at least men wait until they're sick to whine.

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 5:14:45 PM | I can tell if a man is really sick or just mildly inconvenienced. I will give you everything you need if you're really sick, hot soup, hot bath, massage, bodily warmth etc.
If you are playing me , then you get an extra blanket and I'll see you in 3 days.

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/11/2008 9:15:07 PM | | Works both ways. There are both men and women who regress into little whiny children when they get sick, and I don't think either is very attractive. Now, there's nothing wrong with wanting to make your loved one feel better, but when they **** and moan about every little discomfort, it just becomes a PITA. | |

| silly question about males with a cold... Posted: 1/12/2008 8:07:53 PM | I agree that it depends on how the man behaves - but that goes for a woman who's ill too. A man being ill isn't pathetic though. It happens, and he's entitled to a bit of TLC to make him feel better. | |
