Posted: 1/19/2008 9:35:04 PM | I like smarts in all of kinds people: like friends, parents, kids, and women.
My preference is for lasting, loving relationship with a woman who is tremendously smart and also sweet, and reasonably sane. And very compatible and able to deal with mutual ease with the inevitable ratio of incompatibilities of any two complex personalities.
It's a drag to be with anyone who intimidates other people. Whether that's intentional or not. People who have to, for whatever reason, prove that they're smart, or worse, that they're smarter, have a provable stupidity.

Firstly men are NOT seeking women they can control.
They are seeking women who are not control freaks themselves. They are seeking women who RESPECT men. Who don't treat them like propertey or slaves.
And ENDJ! I'm not kidding. Take a look through a good library, at some of the newspapers of the deep south prior to the US civil war. The plantation owners genuinely thought that their slaves would be helpless, and directionless, without their white masters. A great many wives and girlfriends display EXACTLY the same attitude to thier husbands.
Also ENDJ do you respect smart men? Rattle off / write down the first two dozen famous LIVING men that come into your head. Movies, rock, and sporting stars most of them. How many who are noted for brains? | |

Among the women Nancy Gilberth and Marie Curie, and (I think) Dr Sally Ryde were happily married. The single ones include Dr Roasalyn Franklin, Babs McClintoff and Elisabeth Kenny. Kenny couldn't get married becasue she was a nurse, not a doctor. | |

OT - IMHO - Most men and Most women prefer someone with whom they can communicate 'easily' - without need to "dummydown" or continuously explain what they mean. **IQ is not a good measure - It only shows that a person has a certain mental capacity - Not that they use it! lol

You've gotta talk about something besides shoes and Brad Pitt, once the lights are back on.....
I am hoping this was said in jest, and bar is not set as low as to be able to communicate about more than just those two. Because if you add make up and Brittney to the convo it ain't gonna be much better. ( A side note, I bet you that a smart woman can make even a shoe conversation (if kept brief) fascinating subject.)
However, I have seen many profiles where a guy states "I look for moderately smart woman", "someone with some intelegence" [original spelling], "some brains" and so on... I suppose if you set the bar that low you won't easily be disappointed.
As for aliens, we are creatures apart and smart by default. All of us. Not that we would ever stereotype. It's just a fact of life. Coming from a different planet and all that.

OP. now Directly Back on topic, I have found anyone that has to state they are smart or intelligent in emails, forums. or whatever really have issues. I always wonder, who they are trying to convince? The exception to this rule of course is humor.
But if I believe the smartest people are the ones that don't have to say anything about their intelligience. They just show it by their compassion, writings, etc..I am also willing to lay odds, your intelligience is NOT what is turning men off.
Since in my experience they don't want us, dumber than a bag of rocks.

As of this writing this thread has had 442 views. 2% of the GP is capable of joining Mensa. So if the GP has acessed this thread then the odds would say there have been 9 Mensa capable people who have read this thread already. I'd bet it might be higher because the word smart in the title will likely attract more smart people to read it in the first place.
Three things:
(i) If the thread has been read 442 times chances are that it has not been read by 442 different people . Whoever posts on a thread has the tendency to come back and read other posters' statements or add yet another point of view. So the number of actual viewers is very likely much lower than the number of views of a specific thread (and you don't need to be Mensa member to figure that out...).
(ii) Chances are that those Mensa members that read this thread were ... um ... female and not interested in the OP but interested in the thread topic only.
(iii) Having qualified for Mensa means you're having a high IQ. It means you've got a lot of potential (in one or more specific fields). It does not necessarily mean, though, that you're smart nor does it mean that you're well-educated nor does it mean that you're able to live up to your potential. It doesn't mean that you're a total geek either. Nor does it mean that you're into bragging about your brain capacity (even though some people do). It just means you took a specific test and passed. | |

I have no data to extrapolate what the percentages of intelligent vs. less intelligent female POF'ers current is. Since it is likely to fluctuate at random intervals depending on various influences. It stands to reason however that since many less intelligent POF women are becoming more intelligent simply by being on POF that intellectual statistics are continually compounded by the less intelligent becoming enlightened as a result of repeated exposure to less intelligent male POF influences as well as alien intervention and alterations. Sarcasm is really quite difficult to read in an email-what I mean by that is sarcasm is usually quite obvious in a face-to-face conversation or in an email from someone you know but it can be hard to tell when someone is being sarcastic on a first meeting and even worse in a first meeting by email.
On the phone number bit, you may want to arrange a face-to-face meeting instead of a phone call. A phone call doesn't really seem much different than an email so what's the point about changing the communication medium. Most guys that I know don't really like talking on the phone anyway so take chance and arrange for a first meeting or suggest a first meeting rather than handing out your number (I think phone numbers are dangerous anyway, nothing like having some psychopath calling you at all hours of the night.) | |

What some people consider sarcasm is left to the recipient. I mean what she considers sarcastic might be a compliment to another person. I disagree whole heartedly. If you give your number to somebody and they don't call, it's just too fricken bad for them. Sorry 'bout their bad luck. Why is that people always ASSUME you are doing something wrong when others aren't attracted to you or your humor? Screw 'em... Somebody else will appreciate you for who you are, even if some jack@ss with the sense of humor of a tomato cant take a joke... Change your undies, but don't change you.
