| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/13/2008 8:43:09 PM | | Smart women are at the top of my list actually. The most interesting woman I have ever met was one with whom I was able to describe looking for food in the fridge by saying "Twenty thousand leagues under the vegatables" and she found that hilarious. I love being able to quote book titles or famous quirps, say totally out of the blue things that make no sense and have her find it just as funny as I do. Another woman on the other hand, much more attractive physically mind you, was about as interesting as a dixie cup. Any attempt at humor fell flat on its face or was met with a dull "Huh?". I take that back actually, I think dixie cups come with those inspirational quotes all over them now. | |

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/14/2008 4:09:31 AM | You know, I've been thinking about this.
A lot of women say "When I play dumb, men are more insterested in me." And it dawned on me.
Smart women give an air of resistance, compared to the dumb ones. Could it be the level of perceived resistance/acceptance that's the issue?

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/14/2008 7:05:00 AM | Me likes smart women........me likes them even better with good looks and money.......me likes them even more if in shape.....me likes smart women........
OT..........For any experienced lover, the true sexual organ is the "brain".......how you use it, why, and with whom......
My motto has been, and will continue to be......."That looks will get my attention, but it will be brains that keeps coming back for more."
Just my opinion.........

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/14/2008 9:09:05 PM | | I find smart, successful women attractive, but I would not date a woman more successful than me. If she is much further ahead in career terms or educational progress or material wealth than myself, I do not consider her dateable from my perspective. This is not because I think women should not try and be as successful as they can, but because pragmatically speaking, I think a wide gap of any kind (in terms of wealth, education, career success, etc) can be extremely divisive, a focal point for negative emotions like jealousy and envy, and can eventually destroy a relationship. I think the best relationships are between equals, so a woman should look for a man with similar success and status and wealth as herself, and the man likewise. | |

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/15/2008 6:10:57 PM | After reading this thread and noticing that the majority of men state that they do prefer so-called smart women, the designation seems to be connected with money. Smart women who are poor = good. Perhaps dumb women who are wealthy is also good.
And maybe it's the smart women who have money are bad. Aha! That's it!

And men like smart women, they do!

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/15/2008 7:07:14 PM | Eh, giggling enough throws them off the scent of 'smart'. ;) You could talk about quantum physics if you like, and as long as you giggle, the guy will think you're a moron. I've experimented with this ever since high school, with teachers, students, males and females alike. You'd be amazed at what a girlish demeanor will do for your perceived IQ points.
He'll figure out you're smart in a few weeks. ;)

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/15/2008 9:43:02 PM | I completely and exactly understand what you go through here on this site. I thought I was the only person having the same problem! completely and exactly I know should not be in the same sentence the way I have written the sentence, but this is the way I feel about the OP's subject!
Conclusions made for this site:
There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Translation: (There are people who feel the way I do, this is great!)

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/15/2008 10:00:16 PM | | OP... That is the inherent problem with sites like this...."Ask a Guy" because we can not ask ...Bill, or Jack or Jim, Dave and so on because each would have a different like for a lady, some may want to control or some may want to be challenged....(as some women want a take charge Man and some don't)... But you started right off by saying......" IT SEEMS TO ME THAT MEN ARE LOOKING FOR WOMEN WHO THEY CAN CONTROL"....well Bill may... but Jack may not and so on.........I Dave find ladies who are weak minded and who lack intelligence boaring...... | |

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/16/2008 9:01:48 AM | Its just the same for us guys, no one chats to us very often, so I'd say No I don't want to control someone, I'd rather she controlled herself and her life so I can consentrate on mine.
And then i'd say to you, stop complaining get on a paid site if you want someone who is actualy going to bother to chat to you, after all they paid and will make the most of their investment

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/16/2008 9:11:44 AM | | I for one Adore smart women, If a woman can prove me wrong or knows something I do not that is very important. Also A woman who can talk about bigger concepts than just politics or the media is a keeper in my book. | |

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/16/2008 9:20:02 AM | | Don't worry sweetie! being smart is sexy, but the only thing you could work on is not to intimidate men of your intelligence, well those men are dumb they didn't realized that you are a great catch, just keep on looking Im sure there is one there for you. | |

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/16/2008 10:59:59 AM | | Absolutely! i've met some women on here who i cant talk to because i use big words, apparently | |
|
| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/16/2008 10:24:00 PM | Well..................... Most men/women want both education and physical attraction. Assuming she's relatively attractive, the only thing I can figure is perhaps these particular men with whom she's speaking aren't on par with the OP. | |

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/17/2008 10:37:46 AM | Maybe they do not really want to go out. Maybe they think you are too stiffly legal- like. I'm kind of attracted to the abnormal egregious ones.
You should pin them down right away that's always fun. Like what do you do? Where do you live? What are you doing this weekend? Then say, o.k i'm ready to talk.

| Do men Like Smart Women?? Posted: 3/17/2008 6:54:55 PM | First off, I know you're halfway kidding. But the people you experimented on couldn't have been much like me. I like the giggle and the girlish demeanor, and it wouldn't take me a few minutes (let alone weeks) to figure out she was smart--giggle or no. The only thing about it that might put me off would be to see she was doing it to try to hide how smart she was.
Ann Coulter's got the combination down--when I've heard her talking informally with someone she knows, now and then she mixes in a girlish tone of voice and a giggle. And she often smiles like she's thinking of doing something slightly naughty.
