| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/23/2008 10:24:23 PM | See my "anti-insanity" receipe described in my profile. Love is beautiful but, first, it helps if people can get along well and have a plan they can agree on. LOVE is possible but easier if work is seen from a similar perspective. The backwards way is not the way no matter how much someone maybe craving for LOVE. It happens all by itself in the right circumstances. Now, I know this thread was about food receipes but this is a dating site. So.....

fifi47, then you'll get a kick out of this. When my son was about 3 and we were at the zoo's petting farm. I pointed and said, "hey Devin, there are some chickens." He said, "Mmmmmm......yummy!" Where I live is a big sheep farming area. The fields are filling up with bouncing, fluffy, cute little lambs. In a few months they will suddenly disappear. If you go up to a field the ewes all look at you very sternly and now I know why. They're thinking 'You ate my babies'.

I have some left over chicken heating up in the oven. Cooked it on the grill and it was really good. Probably gonna fix some type of pasta to go with it and some garlic bread.

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/24/2008 8:38:27 PM | I haven't thought about Lamb Chop in a while. I just googled his image and laughed when I saw his long eyelashes. Or is he a girl? I don't care if it makes me look old, I love lamb chop, lol! Anyway, back on topic...when I get home I'm going to bake some salmon with lemon and onion in a foil packet. I'll barely have time to let it cool down before I swallow it and go to bed. | |

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/25/2008 5:03:01 PM | MMMMMMM lamb
Tonight I am having smoked steelehead thanks to a nice man friend and some Brussels sprouts and warm French bread with some leftover fresh strawberry pie piled high with whipped cream! GOD I love steelehead.

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/25/2008 5:32:27 PM | I got Quinoa with jalapenos and corn. Quinoa is a grain like couscous or rice but it has more protein than any other grain. Meaning, no beans, and no gas afterward! 1 pan to cook it in, so quick clean up. You make it all in one 2 qt saucepan, using
1 c uncooked Quinoa 16oz package broth 1 c frozen corn 1/3 c diced jalapenos 1/3 c chopped green onions 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp ground cumin 2 tblsp lime juice
Put quinoa, salt, cumin and cocoa in the saucepan, add broth then put over high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15 mins or until liquid is absorbed. Stir in jalapeno and corn and cook for 2 mins more. Stir in scallions and lime juice. Serve warm.
It's very good. I'm stirring in cherry tomatoes as a last step to add yet more flavor.

Tonight I am having smoked steelehead LOL!!! Steelehead is good... And now that that's whet my appetite, maybe I should get some smoked sockeye out of the freezer for tomorrow. I'm out of capers, though, gotta pick some up. Got dill, and red onion, and cream cheese. And oh yeah... got some great wine bread. That'll go well with it all. Hmmm... gotta chill some whine... errr... wine, and maybe I can still make some creme caramel to follow that. And yes, there will be espresso as well.
Now that's good eats!
Put quinoa, salt, cumin and cocoa in the saucepan I've haven't heard of cooking quinoa with cocoa. I'll try your recipe and see how that turns out. Should be interesting. I wonder if fiddleheads and morels will be out yet. The way this season is going, probably not.

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/25/2008 7:14:22 PM | airenueva...I eat quinoa all of the time, more than ANY other grain. I love it. I could be the poster girl for quinoa, but your recipe has me drooling and I am definitely trying THAT! Thanks
LanSir, mmmmmmsalmon and steelehead, oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Well, I ended up eating mine cold. Was in the mood for a cold dinner with all this sudden heat...got to 38 today! I had it sliced with some pecorino romano, oil cured olives and very chilled grapes. I skipped dessert and I feel so good. I love a satisfying small cold meal.
I don't think the fiddleheads are out yet, but soon and there is this old apple orchard I want desperately to raid for morels, but I am afraid I will get caught!

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/25/2008 11:54:31 PM | How about a nice big salad with some nice fresh veggie and a greek salad dressing. That always gets me going, there is nothing like eating something living than some that is dead. That is just me i think living food is much better for you than the dearly departed food. | |

Now I feel like saying a prayer everytime I open my freezer.

Do you eat it while it is still in the ground...like a rabbit would? If one could, from what I understand, that would be the best way to eat it. From what I've learned, food loses a lot of it's nutrient value, along with a lot of it's beneficial enzymes, moments after it's been harvested. In fact, there are commune like places, where people will eat the fruit while it's attached to the plant/vine/tree. They claim that they feel great in a very short time of doing so.
Some supermarkets here, sell "living" lettuce, that is still attached to its root system, that is in a little reservoir of water. I do try to get that, from time to time, but I don't feel very different after eating it because I eat it so infrequently, and because I also eat a lot of "dead" food.

Well, I was visiting China this one time and the resturaunt was serving live shrimp that's still jumping in the bowl. And uh...people would bite the head off and eat them. I'm assuming that's not what you mean by eating something living?

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/27/2008 2:45:25 PM | Getting away from eating living things.
I'm using up my (non-living) chocolate easter eggs. Just made chocolate lemon tarts. They are your basic shortcrust pastry tarts, which I added some melted chocolate to before baking. The cases are left to cool and then brushed with melted chocolate. That is left to set and then filled with a mixture of whipped cream and lemon curd. And finally chocolate is grated on top to decorate.
They look very nice but I haven't eaten one yet. I'm really sick of chocolate now. I'm hoping to give at least half of them away. And I still have about 200 grams of chocolate to use up. Its like dark brown, sweet, sticky torture.

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/27/2008 3:38:29 PM | Tonight it's going to be:
Grilled Tenderloin Steak with a big healthy helping of grill roasted wild asparagus frozen since last spring, with lemon butter.
(I want to get started early, since we are about 30 degrees colder this year and there is no place that would have it growing wild right now. )
|
| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/27/2008 4:14:32 PM | I'm ready to eat. I'll have the grilled tenderloin steak and then one of Satsumo's chocolate lemon tarts for dessert.
*sighs* actually I am having some chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/27/2008 4:21:47 PM | I had chicken noodle soup.
I hate chicken noodle soup. There ought to be a law against chicken noodle soup. I don't even know why I had chicken noodle soup in my pantry.
But all is not lost. I took some Black Angus New York strips out to thaw and tomorrow I WILLl NOT have chicken noodle soup.

| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/27/2008 4:23:09 PM | Well naughtical. The kids and I are going to try to have brats. If you know how to not make them explode on my grill, you are welcome to come over for dinner. What...the kids or the brats? Wait! What's the difference. Heck, I'm confused now.
edit: Maybe I can steal one of Fluke's steaks and put on your grill, shhhh....
|
| Hey good lookin' (and others), whatcha got cookin'? Posted: 3/27/2008 4:31:30 PM | You're welcome to have one free of charge Naughty. But you'd have to come over to get it.
It's a package of three.
You could also have some chicken noodle soup. I have some more chicken noodle soup left over you could share with Dave.
