| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 5/19/2008 4:47:17 PM | Ooh - I agree we need a spanking smiley! Sorry if not the place for this request, I'm just following Red to see what interesting things she has to say...while I'm here... Not that I have any personal stake in it, but it had been mentioned to me (don't know why ) that we need a viking smiley...maybe with red braids... I know, I know, just allow me to dream... Love you, Ticket (I know, I'm a shameless brown-noser). | |

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 5/19/2008 6:11:01 PM | where is my spanking smiley? I haven't been able to establish whether you have been naughty or not ...
we need a viking smiley...maybe with red braids... Viking ... No. Hiking ... yes ...

You know me... I am always naughty:)

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 5/21/2008 9:02:56 PM | OMG - yes! I could probably get over the pain of not having a viking, if I could use that spanking smiley just once in a while...(insert begging smiley here)
And I bet you know this already, Ticket, but I can verify that Red is indeed very, very naughty on a regular basis...

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 5/21/2008 10:17:52 PM | Do you suppose if I send him some home-made cookies, Bigfish will give me a viking smiley? Just askin'.... Thanks for the spanking one though - that is awesome! | |

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/20/2009 1:53:25 PM | I hope someone responds to my bumping an old thread, but rather than start a new one...
when I use the thumbs-down smiley <img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0> I see the code as : down : but it keeps posting as a thumbs-up <img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0>
wtf? hm, now it worked, but I swear lol that twice in this last week I distinctly saw "down" in the code but it ended up the other way......... sigh, nap time?
OK!! NOW IT REVERSED ITSELF AGAIN. and now after updating my post twice, the code went crazy! lol

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/20/2009 6:52:50 PM | yuk yuk...lol when I edited the post they went wonkie AND the down turned into an up. I swear..........................
I'll try again and whatever the result is, it will be after an edit. down
up
now edit. | |
|
| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/20/2009 6:54:54 PM | that freakin "down" uprighted to an "up" after one edit.
please someone try it with an edit update and see if I'm totally crazy?!?!

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/21/2009 4:50:34 AM | Hi Mz, Don't know if this helps but some time ago I fell upon the links below which suggest using empty BB Code tags at the beginning of posts to avoid these potential 'edit disasters'. Somehow, that initial BB code / HTML code forces the rest of the post to be formatted correctly.
I now always put the empty BB Code tags at the very beginning of all posts and I don't think I've had a problem since. I presume this would work for the smiley too, but the fact that the # 200 number changes to # 201 throws me a bit. I've also read somewhere that adding a couple of spaces before and after smilies fixes some of their foibles, too . . but can't find a link for that, sorry.
So . . if you notice the recent posts above, my guess is that Msg: 39 worked because it starts by quoting yourself . . i.e. it has some initial BB code / HTML code. Msg: 36 obviously worked but I'm not sure if she tried to edit or not . . she didn't specify. All the other latest messages don't have any initial BB code / HTML code (presumably?) . . and failed the edit test.
Worth a try, maybe?

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/21/2009 5:28:16 AM | Yes I remember those posts too, they were by oldsoul if i recall correctly, in any event without quoting:
Test 1
- Up
- Down

Post Edit - Still fine
Post Edit 2 - Still Fine | |

| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/21/2009 7:00:39 AM | Hmmm . . OK, but maybe yours is somehow tied in with other Mod / post editing privileges? . . guessing here. Did you edit twice Trapped? Lone hawk* got two different issues with two edits? . . maybe it's not consistent? . . dunno.
Here's my try. No BB code used at all and I won't edit anything above the 'thumbs' 'cos I get the impression that may be a factor, too. I've also got two spaces both before and after the thumbs.
Thumb up :201:
Thumb down :200:
Post EDIT #1: Dang . . didn't work at all ! Post just shows the 200/201 numbers with colons . . no HTML. Change of plan here. Going to add blank BB code to the beginning of post, now.
Post EDIT #2: Looks like you're right . . that didn't work. I just added the following right at the beginning of the post . . without the spaces, of course. [ b ][ /b ]
Going to try just the 201 thumb with no spaces, but don't think it'll work now.
:201:
Post EDIT #3: While I've still got some edit time, I'll apologise for wasting everyone's time . . and now I really need that laugh emote, but you'll just have to imagine it's there, OK. lol Yeah . . we're reduced to lol now . .
Post EDIT #4: Just a thought . . my 'thumbs were taken from:
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts1485062.aspx
I didn't add them from the 'Post Reply' page . . if that makes any difference.
|
| Smiley problem -- not all are working Posted: 7/21/2009 7:05:03 AM | Did you edit twice Trapped?
yep - just did, so no idea if it's tied in or not to any special powers or just the home grown spaghetti code.
try post editing in a quote tag - that doesn't work anymore for sure.
:201: <-- adding that rather than clicking on the icon doesn't work - obviously.
