| Valentines Day in Red Deer? Feb 16th? How YOU doin'? Posted: 1/18/2008 6:43:50 AM | I suppose I should get that map page fired up soon eh? Y'all want that map page to be there right? Custom map to the venue? Details on stuff? And things? Yes? lol.
Actually right now I'm waiting for Jeff to get back to me on whether or not he can spin his DJ magic at the valentines gig. If he can't, fear not, I have already ensured that someone else will be available. I've known him for 8 years and he's been DJ'ing clubs for quite a while, and has a shatload of songs. So you will not be without good music, regardless!
And I do realize that there is now an Edmonton event on that same night (I posted mine first! :P hehe), so if you live in Edmonton and you signed up to this one before the Edm one was posted, don't feel pressured to come to this one just because you already signed up. I WANT the Edmonton crowd to come, obviously, but I can't stop you from staying in Edmonton on a saturday night, nor would I be offended. There are probably benefits to going to either of the two events. I won't weigh them, because it's not a competition. It's all in the name of love in mid-February.

Also for accomodations isn't Wild Bill's attached to the Capri hotel? Would someone please post additional hotel information that is withing walking distance to the wild event. Thanks. Plus, to sharing a room, the more the merrier, as the head will only be on the pillow when it cannot hold itself up anymore...

| Valentines Day in Red Deer? Feb 16th? How YOU doin'? Posted: 1/19/2008 6:46:47 AM | I have actually thought about bringing my band into Wild Bills for one of these events before, but the design of the place wouldn't really support a band. I do believe that there are plans to eventually reconfigure that place to have a stage, and therefore accommodate bands.
For now we're gonna stick with the DJ format because it's a safe bet in this case.
If we were having it at say, The Vat, then the band idea would be THE way to go (or band AND DJ). Unfortunate The Vat couldn't possibly hold the number of people who will likely turn up at this event. It's kind of a shame, really.

LOL) sooner than later, I have posted the info on the first page of this thread, on which hotels I recommend based on either proximity to Wild Bill's, or value to the out of towner.
Note that Wild Bill's is attached to the North Hill Inn, and not the Capri. You might be thinking of the night clubs called Bellini's and BillyBob's which are in fact attached to the Capri (fairly expensive hotel, I'm told). We'd have the event at one of those two clubs but we've been told that "internet people don't drink" and so we can't book off our own areas there.
I think the staff at Wild Bill's would beg to differ regarding what internet people do anywhere near alcohol.. hehe.

| Valentines Day in Red Deer? Feb 16th? How YOU doin'? Posted: 1/19/2008 10:14:51 AM | OK first off, I goyta say, if I were to be in Red deer on the 16th, I'd attend, because hey - a POF gathering is a POF gathering. I've been to a couple (back on Vancouver Island) and always had a riot.
But does anyone else see the humour/irony in a singles club holding a Valentine’s party?

Usually the goal of going to a singles party is to hopefully leave with at least some good prospective contacts, if not, to leave your single status behind ;)
I'd love to go to a POF event in BC sometime. I've only been to AB ones, oh, and that one in Australia. lol.

| Valentines Day in Red Deer? Feb 16th? How YOU doin'? Posted: 1/24/2008 6:53:52 PM | The new crowd always has a bit of an initial shock as to how big some of these events can get, but there's nothing to worry about.
And the good thing about them is that if you're willing to hang out and wait for a good opening, there's usually a group of two or more people standing around just shootin' the shat. It's an ideal way to get to know people.

| Valentines Day in Red Deer? Feb 16th? How YOU doin'? Posted: 1/26/2008 6:18:05 AM | | I have only been to one party before and I found that most people only chatted with people they already knew. I think I only met two strangers. Kinda disappointing, maybe this time it will be different. | |

Are there going to be name tags??
Yes, thats right I think its easier for some people coughcoughnewbiescoughcough to approach someone if they can put a screen name to a real live face. Makes it less intimidating?!
But...thats just me. | |
