| 02-04-08 ~ URGENT ALERT: EVENT LOCATION CHANGE!!! Posted: 2/5/2008 2:14:46 PM | Goldenheart,
I'm listed as attending Sat. eve. I am only interested in Thurs.
Is there space? Last posting said 60 people could attend Thurs., not the 40 as originally stated.
Let me know about attending Thurs.
Also, please remove my name from Saturday's list.
Thanks in advance. | |

| Q: Why limit the sign up to 40 per event when the place holds 60??? Posted: 2/5/2008 2:50:33 PM | Q: Why limit the sign up to 40 per event when the place holds 60???
A: First off this whole thing has grown way past my expectations...and I even had to find a new location last minute that could accomidate us short notice. The owner of Cole&Parks almost said NO... He's not usually open...so he needed to arrange special staffing. They only have 25 spots for parking...and he asked me to keep it to 40 per event.
Now then...I'm a problem solver...but I'm not positive what I have in mind with the Limo shuttle will work so....
...I don't want to upset the owner of Cole&Parks on the Thursday event to where he says we can't have it on Saturday....Please understand that if anyone comes on Thursday and you are not on the list you may very well be turned away...for the good of the whole...The official limit is still 40...for now
We are selectively and I hope fairly allowing a few more than 40 to come. For instance: One girl that was harrassed so bad in the begining after she signed up to come to the event she removed her profile...She is still coming as my personal guest. Others exceptions will be if someone has prearranged to bring guests or those who are helping me to facilitate the event. In truth there are close to 50 signed up or coming for Thursdays event already...
I highly recommend to those coming, or for those hoping that we might make an exception, to contact ICorinthians...Micheal concerning his offer to shuttle people around... He's a servant to all on Thursday and will be an honored guest on Saturday for it.
It would be great if some of the guys who are coming Thursday would switch to Saturday to help even out the two events numbers wise and the ratio as well.
I've unselfishly put about 40 hours into this thus far....and I'm not getting paid... If I had to do it over again I probably wouldn't do it...however once I start something I see it through. So please don't just be thinking of yourself...and let's be celebrating a good time had by all...so we can plan for bigger and better events moving forward.
Hope to see you all there...

| Q: Why limit the sign up to 40 per event when the place holds 60??? Posted: 2/5/2008 4:54:36 PM | Hey guy,I,for one, appreciate the time and effort you are putting into this.
I have done similar event planning and it can be a pain. Most people don't realize the amount of work it actually is.
One thing I'd really like to see are two seperate lists w/pics for each night and time specifics...did Sat get pushed back to a 7-9pm time frame? Thanks! Dave.

| Q: Did Saturdays time get pushed back? Posted: 2/5/2008 7:09:18 PM | Q: Did Saturdays time get pushed back?
A: Yes...Upon the owners request Saturday's time had to be moved to 7PM when they officially close so that our private event could begin...again because of parking...
As to having two seperate lists with seperate pics and names I could have easily accomplished this by starting up a seperate forum...but this thing just sort of evolved... into a split event...so...I think this will be done better the next time through...
I appreciate your show of appreciation.

| We got it off the ground... Posted: 2/10/2008 12:26:05 AM | I want to thank our planners for their energy and intent to plan a great event. To our planners credit, this event was very well planned, very positive and in a nice setting to kick the night off before the bars got hopping. However, most of the people who signed up did not show up, including one woman who I switched nights to meet.
So I hope those that did not show up, chime in and speak up why this venue didn't draw them to actually come to the event.

| Sorry I did not come. Posted: 2/10/2008 4:18:28 AM | I normally do what I say I will. This past week had been an extremely busy week, and Saturday was no exception. So I was exhausted. Plus,I live up near Greece and that drive did not appeal to me after the day I had. I do look forward to any other POF events. Maybe something downtown or a little more centrally located. I know a lot of hard work went into the event, and I hope those that went had a good time. | |

| Sorry to miss a great event Posted: 2/10/2008 8:16:46 AM | | Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all, and I'm sorry I had to miss it. I hope there continue to be events in the general Rochester area. It's a drive for me, but I don't mind that if it is a good time. Family matters creeped up last minute this time, so I had to miss, but I hope to make the next one. | |

| We got it off the ground... Posted: 2/10/2008 9:50:03 AM | Trish and Randy,
You guys were fantastic in setting these up and executing -- as a former event planner, I know how much work it is. And I am totally bummed to have missed Saturday night -- but since I woke up with a bad sore throat and ended up with a fever, I thought it best not to impact the health of the "school" by coming. So while you guys were having fun and meeting new people, I was asleep (very lame way to spend a Saturday night).
I love the fact that Trish is already thinking about the next one, and agree with David about maybe having something downtown -- Victor is a long haul for those of us on the West and North side of the city (although I make the trip 5 times a week, since I work down the street from C&P).
Anyway, I am sorry I missed all of you ... especially one person I was hoping to actually meet in person. I look forward to the next POF get-together.

| S.E. of Rochester NY - Meet For Coffee & Gourmet Pastries Posted: 2/10/2008 3:43:52 PM | This was a wonderful event. The setting and atmosphere allowed for nice conversation, laughter, and people getting to know one another in a relaxed manner. A handful of us went over to the Village Inn afterward for karaoke and had a real blast.
The only disappointment was that there were so many no-shows. You missed a great time! So come on out to the next event and get to know people.

| Administrative Commentary From The Host... Posted: 2/19/2008 11:58:39 AM | Hypothosis tested: Rochester NY area women have trouble with commitment!
I hope someone else would take the healm for more events.
The first thing out of the mouth of one lady who showed up for Thursdays event was..."You need a party planner!" After 40+ hours of volunteer work to get this event off the ground it was not what I wanted to hear. Even so...Perhaps she was correct...but when I challenged her to take up the torch to be the host for the next event she quickly declined indicating that she didn't have the time. In my own way I was saying to her "Put up or shut up"... Then she suprised me when proceeded to tell me how she had the perfect place for our next event...At first I thought "How arrogant".
Subtext in my brain: So she wants us to do all the work so we can set up the next event where she wants and believes we need to have a party planner. When she finished with her rant I more assertively said..."That sounds fine ...I think you should go ahead and do it then."...She then said....Perhaps I will.....What do I have to do to start one of these things anyways... I smartly replied..."I think you need a party planner!"...
What's my point...It's people like this that take the steam out of people like me who try to set things like this up. As best I know there has yet to be a statue erected in honor of a critic. I looked at her age and occupation...In her 40's and a teacher...Perhaps I'm being a tad judgmental here but I have little doubt that she has tenure, plenty of money and aptitude...but with a..."What's in it for me teachers union attitude".
In general the few women that did show up were the "salt of the earth" type.. and I'm glad that all those who showed up had a good time... I've found that in general the women in the Rochester area using this service are not very considerate or cordial. This was reflected clearly in terms of the turn out for the event. The question is why? Some had very good excuses but most just didn't show...
Even though it may sound negative I thought that it would be good to get this commentary out now that the events are over. I'll be glad to sign up and join in if others want to take up the torch and make more events occur...I personally prefer coffee houses to bars because I'm looking for a deep long term relationship and not just a shallow short term fling and that's normally what evolves from the bar scene.
When's the last time you've heard anyone that has been married for 40 years or more say... Yeah...We met in a bar and it was love at first sight...?
A hint to any woman that "might" have an interest in me... If we set up a date and you blow me off it's a bad start... especially if you don't have the courtesy of letting me know ahead or within an hour or so of the failed attempt to connect. It's called common courtesy for those who may have forgotten.
Sincerely, goldenheart777

| Waaaah...Waaaah...Waaaaaah Posted: 2/20/2008 4:21:16 PM | Why do you feel the need to boast about your 40 hours put into this...if you didnt want to do it...then dont do it...you did it..now keep some dignity and stop whinin....you sound like a lil baby...waaaaah waaaah waaaah...now pull your boot straps up and go plan another gathering....only this time...just do it...and stop yer constant need for recognition and praise....for cryin out cornflakes..no wonder it was so poorly attended.....between you and the limo guy....that was all the ego...that party could handle. Peace out y'all!!~~ | |
|
| Waaaah...Waaaah...Waaaaaah Posted: 2/20/2008 6:38:36 PM | "now pull your boot straps up and go plan another gathering"
After all that criticism...Why don't you do it?
There has yet to be a successful event in Rochester and in my opinion primarily because of people like you. If you want to prove what you said to be true...Start one...unless of course you lack the courage of your convictions. I already know you won't...Your the type who tears others down to build themselves up...otherwise why comment at all...So go ahead...prove me wrong... Show me how it's done...
