| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 4/23/2008 7:27:09 PM | I would love to be a rider with someone if anyone is interested in having some company on some of the rides. Please send me an email and let's get together.
Come on,...........I know there have to be some bikers out there that wouldn't mind having a rider on the back.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 5/24/2008 6:31:45 PM | I ride all the time, so yes I am sure I will be riding this weekend. I rode my KLR today to Athens for an event at "Cycle World". I have never done the "Harley" thing before since "Harley" riders seem to not like my well ridden Concours or KLR. Be that as it may, they had a "bikini contest" and a "daisy duke" contest. I must confess that I will turn 50 on the 26th day of May and have never been to a strip bar; however I do think I possess the intelect to determine these women must have been strippers at an all you can eat truck stop non buffet. It is not like me to speak negative of people, but these women was SKANKY looking !!! I think I know now why I will never fit in the Harley crowd.
Giggles you can ride with me any time your heart desires. All you have to do is tell me what size helmet you need or bring your own. I went to Orlando last week to speak at a national conference, and needless to say I rode my bike. It was faster than flying when you consider going through security and getting in and out of Hartsfield. I left Orlando at 07:45 and was sitting in my house in Jefferson at 15:45. That includes going through a MONSOON on 75/675/285 between 14:00 - 15:00.
Snprvnm where all have you been on that Vstrom? I have had 2 chances to get a 650 with low miles for a decent price, but was stupid and let them pass me by because I could not defend why I needed 3 bikes.
|
| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 5/27/2008 12:57:12 PM | I rode it to Alaska last Summer..
the perfect number of bikes to own????...
"Just one More!"..
actually 3 is about all I like to afford keeping up..
I have a 01Yamaha Fz1 and an 89 Honda HawkGt 650 as well as the Wee-Strom, I did some forestry "service" roads on the Wee this past weekend with a a KLR and a F650 BMW, probably some of the gnarliest stuff I've ridden on it, and my deepest water crossing so far on it also, Hope the pic turns out!

| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 5/27/2008 2:28:00 PM | | Where all did yall go riding at? I ride wih some friends that take their KLRs places I will not take mine. Why you might ask? Simple. They trailer their bikes to the mountains, and I ride mine there and back. They can afford to put on some serious off road tires, while I can not afford to let riding on the highway mess up my tires. Do you have an after market bash plate on the Wee Strom. Here is a link you may like www.klr650.net scroll down to the locations and the bottom and choose southeast. | |

| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 5/27/2008 6:14:53 PM | | I let about 20 pounds of air out of my battlewings at the first stop, then pumped them back up when we hit pavement, we rode flatland road left off of 180 north of Suches to the coopers creek WMA up to Mulky Gap, then down 129 to turners corner and 19 before heading back down 52 to 115 to 400S, the first sections are the hardest, nothing for a KLR, but on a weestrom with fully pumped tires it had a definite "pucker" factor.. | |
|
| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 5/28/2008 3:47:10 AM | | Yes I can imagine it did lead to a few "pucker" happy moments. I refer to it as begins to get "happy"; in other words it is bouncing all over the place. I have ridden up in that area forever. If you get a chance one day go on Duncan Ridge Rd. It is at the top of 180 where to A.T. crosses. | |

| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/2/2008 11:22:15 AM | Just found this thread and will keep an eye on it. I might have seen you guys up on the FS roads this past weekend, was by myself on my DRz400 and recall seeing a KLR and GS650 along with another bike...maybe you.
I'm up between Cumming and Dawsonville about a mile East of 400, so very convenient to a lot of good roads. Ride either dirt or street...BMWR1100RT for street. Riding since I was 12, so it's kinda in my blood. Back seat is often open if any of you POF ladies want to join in.
Cheers, | |

| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/2/2008 1:41:43 PM | | I can usually be found hanging at Dales in Suches when in N. Georgia, hanging with the Crew from "Blokes Sportbike Forums" You "riders" check it out on the Net, Lots of Fun ride/gatherings happening all the time in the Metro area.. | |
|
| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/2/2008 3:19:29 PM | | I usually drop in at Dale's when through that area...be advised tho if you're planning on using Dale's to refuel, he was out of gas last Monday afternoon when I was up there...luckily had enough to make it back down 60 to a gas station. Hopefully this won't be an ongoing issue. | |

| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/2/2008 4:05:57 PM | I got to know the BSB and the GSB forum from attending the funeral of Bryan Mough in Winder. The young man was shot in the back with a .40 cal pistol by a Mr Gear in Bogart. Fewer things will ever be as rewarding as pulling into the funeral home in Winder with a gazillion other bikes completely unexpected. Needless to say his family and friends were overwhelmed.
Both my KLR and Concours are like tankers with a 6.1 gallon and 7.5 gallon tank respectively, so seldom do I have to get fuel in the mountains. I bet you go to to place I can only dream on that DRZ. Do not get me wrong, I like my KLR. However, it is good at many things but not great at anything which makes it a great bike !!!
|
| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/2/2008 7:17:03 PM | I recall hearing about that episode...great to see that kind of support. I hope Mr. Gear will get his just rewards sooner than later! A prime example of a waste of skin.
My RT is the same way, holds 6.6 gallons and is generally good for anywhere from 240-340 miles, depending on what warp factor I'm running at.
I had a Clarke 4 gallon tank on a Honda XR250L that I just sold, planning on getting one shortly for the DR...that should get me about 250 miles if I'm not winding it up too tight. I almost bought a KLR, like you say, they're a great all around bike that does a lot of things pretty well. I got a great deal on the DR and couldn't pass it up...pretty happy with it, but it's going to need some mods to get it just the way I want it...$$$
Lots of great FS roads to ride up North of here, not a problem at all on your KLR.
|
| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/2/2008 8:08:34 PM | | I was in attendance at Bryans service as well and I have since become aquainted with several members of the BSB community, I am proud to be a part of it! I am riceburner on BSB, see you on the board! | |
|
| Georgia Motorcycle Enthusiasts Ride For Fun Posted: 6/3/2008 6:39:17 AM | Oh I ride those FS roads all the time. I pretty much do not even need a map riding them in N. Ga any more. I have ridded just about all of them with a smile on my face !!!
I wish I could see the faces on the bikes behind me when I take off down W Wolf Creek Rd on 180. I bet there are a bunch of "Where the heck is he going !!!"
