Thou art the Creator, Thou alone art my friend;
Thou, O Lord, art all-pervading.
True meditation revealeth Thee
in all Thy perfection;
And the snares of illusion
are rendered ineffective.
Vast and vicious is this mesh of illusion,
Whose intricate tentacles suck one dry.
Sing with all thy heart, the Name of the Lord;
It costs thee nothing, O Nama,
to repeat His Name.

O my Love! come to my house
My body is in intense pain
While all say I am your spouse
I have the very doubts
So long your heart isn't immersed in mine
What kind of love is that
I don't relish food neither do I sleep
I feel discontent in my own home
Passionate is my Love
Like the thirsty longs for water
Will someone do me a favor
And narrate my predicament to my beloved
Kabir is now in total distress
Without seeing the beloved, he is going to die

I have been thinking,
I have been thinking of the difference between water and the waves on it.
Rising, water's still water, falling back, it is water,
will you give me a hint how to tell them apart?

Because someone has made up the word "wave,"
do I have to distinguish it from water?

There is a Secret One inside us;
the planets in all the galaxies
pass through his hands like beads.

That is a string of beads one should look at with luminous eyes.

Listen to everyone, but don't say a word.
In this manner, remain in the world.

Perform your vows and practices with sincerity —
they will carry you across
the mind ocean.

Greet all without negativity, and
remain in the illumination of
devotional association.

Rasakhan says,
"Worship Govinda (God) the way a village woman
balances a water jug upon her head,
with effortless concentration."

~~~Rasakhan (Rasakhan was born to a Muslim family in India
but became a follower of Krishna and a poet extolling the
bhakti path of ecstatic devotion to God.)
O Love, O pure deep Love, be here, be now,
Be all – worlds dissolve into your
stainless endless radiance,
Frail living leaves burn with your brighter
than cold stares –
Make me your servant, your breath, your core.
O my Lord,
if I worship you
from fear of hell, burn me in hell.
If I worship you
from hope of Paradise, bar me from its gates.
But if I worship you
for yourself alone, grant me then the beauty of your Face.
The lanes are muddy and far is the house
of the One I love so much.
If I walk to Him I wet my rug, and
remaining behind, I fail in my love!
Without the beloved this being is restive
the day is without peace, the night without sleep,
I spend uneasy nights till morning
The body and mind are constantly upturning
like a persian wheel, the life is wasted on an empty bed,
The eyes are tired, i see no way
the Lord merciless has not remembered me
My desires are many and my cry is pitiful,
but ever didst thou save me by hard refusals;
and this strong mercy has been wrought into my life through and through.
Day by day thou art making me worthy of the simple,
great gifts that thou gavest to me unasked---this sky and the light, this body and the
life and the mind---saving me from perils of overmuch desire.
There are times when I languidly linger
and times when I awaken and hurry in search of my goal;
but cruelly thou hidest thyself from before me.
Day by day thou art making me worthy of thy full acceptance by
refusing me ever and anon, saving me from perils of weak, uncertain desire.
He is the One in many,
countless are His shapes and forms.
He pervades all that exists;
wherever I look, He is there.
But very few perceive this reality,
for Maya (mystery) ever enchants us
with her multiple reflections
of color and alluring beauty.
Everything is Gobind (God),
Gobind (God) is everything.
Nothing that exists
is without Gobind (God):
the one thread strings
innumerable beads --
Prabhu (Almight) Himself is the thread,
the threader, the threaded.
River and waves,
foam and bubbles
have all their being
within water itself.
This play of things
is the sport of Parbhama (Supreme soul).
The One cannot be thought
different from the other.
Hope is a lie
and desire a mere dream --
yet both are construed
as actual reality.
But when my guru
gave me his holy wisdom,
I awoke from my dream
and my heart yielded.
Namdeva says,
Behold Hari's creation;
ponder upon it
with all your heart,
and you will see
that in every pore,
in every living thing,
there is only the one Murar (God)
I felt you on this page...beautiful, wonderful, deeply moving posts...I loved reading this today. Thanks for posting these. Were all those without author listed your own personal poems? I liked those best of all of them.
you now have me pondering how waves are different from water..
a good little mediation exercise for me today..
O Lord, infinite in Thy glory,
I have ripened and lost myself
In Thy grace,
Do not change, I pray Thee.
I do not desire freedom from birth,
Nor to be Thy servitor in Heaven.
All the wealth I want
Is not to forget Thee.
Drea: Good to know that you are enjoying the poetries of this thread.
The name of author are something there inside the poetry...For example
"Kabir says...". So if author is not written down the verse does not mean that
it is my personal. Hope, you are doing well and everything is great there.
Nice profile picture of you relaxing in backyard with your near and dear.
Uninteresting are your golden temples,
always bright with precious stones
and rows of shimmering lamps.
What to say of your grandeur?
A crowd of kings
stand guard at your door.
You bathe in the Ganges
and squander hoards of pearls.
You sing many Vedic verses
and meditate in the morning.
Says Rasakhan, "All of this is useless
if the heart is not offered, with love,
to yellow-clad Krishna."
In the depths of meditation, sages
Saw within themselves the Lord of Love,
Who dwells in the heart of every creature.
Deep in the hearts of all he dwells, hidden
Behind the gunas of law, energy,
And inertia. He is One. He it is
Who rules over time, space, and causality.
Do not give so much power oh God
That My faith becomes weak
There are a lot ignorance in me
Show me the light of wisdom
Keep me away from all evils
Let there be no enemity
No thoughts of revenge
I do not wish to think what I achieved or received
Let me think, what I could sacrifice
Let me distribute flowers and happiness
Let me not do any mistake even by-mistakely
A voice out of this world
calls on our souls
not to wait any more
get ready to move
to the original home
your real home
your real birth place
is up here with the heavens
let your soul take a flight
like a happy phoenix
you've been tied up
your feet in the mud
your body roped to a log
break loose your ties
get ready for the final flight
make your last journey
from this strange world
soar for the heights
where there is no more
separation of you and your home
God has created
your wings not to be dormant
as long as you are alive
you must try more and more
to use your wings to show you're alive
these wings of yours
are filled with quests and hopes
if they are not used
they will wither away
they will soon decay
you may not like
what i'm going to tell you
you are stuck
now you must seek
nothing but the source
O Lord! Till the time there is life in my body
it should be devoted to you and an offering to your beloved [Muhammad].
It doesn’t matters if I have anything or not, but I pray “Ameen”
that at the time of death, my faith is safe.
Note: “Ameen” is the name of the poet.
God remembers the name of Muhammad with deference
such is the name of Muhammad, peace be upon him.
May God prohibit the fire of hell
on anyone whose heart is written the name of Muhammad.
~~~ This qawwali was sang by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
