40 and smitten and shall tell ..... I see you are likely a couple of people that waste the time of thirty contracters to get the best price on a $1,000.00 job and "get it " for $600.00 ?

Well cheapos I allways here this type of complaining and it's allways the same one ! They just never learn ( really stoopid or challanged ) but again and again and again and again... cheap out waste everyone's time then expect a cadilac job while paying a skooter price ! ppl like you allways pizz me off and I have walked away from plenty of estimates soon as I realize the type !

Ms caramel... that is a little steep.... & becuase your putting a surround on, one only has to "fire tape" the drywall ( one coat) that will be under the surround > I can do it smooth...

Is he cute and doing it in boxers and a muscle shirt with perhaps a little "side" job going on ! ..LOl

Sure Joe. Let's review.

I said,
A grand doesn't seem too steep... nothing costs less than a grand now a days.
knowing fully that it was LABOUR only.

You said,
What is included in this grand ? New enamelled steel Tub, new taps, new aqua board , corner bead - tapeing and primeing ? .... then a surround ?
Which style of surround ? Some of those can get pricey.

Tub $250, tub and shower filler (pressure balanced) $150, aqua board (NOT reccomended for tub surrounds BTW) $40, Corner bead (Using it on INSIDE corners?) Tapeing(sic) (box of all purpose) $20, Primeing(sic)(Oil primer behind surround) $30, good quality surround and adhesive, silicone etcetera, $200 (minimum) You have $700 in material alone here... the guy was coming to do this for $300... in YOUR mind alone!

2 days. Taping with Pro Set 90?

Count on three LONG days if he's there all the time.

I'll stay out of this thread... we only need one resident expert. You can have the job.

Ms caramel46 yes a grand labour on a job of that magnitude is way too much.
Don't get taken to the cleaners by the so called tradesmen out there these days.
Watch a TV show called Holmes on Holmes, he exposes the numerous crooks that are out there.
truth is most so called "pros" "experts" out there are high school dropouts.
Very very few are actual Legally Licensed.
The only reason contractor's "walk away" from a quote/estimate is when they can smell that the person isn't going to be ripped off.
Basic home repairs can be done by anyone with 2 hands and the ability to ask a question.
Guys like this Edjoecdn list a ton of crap like "codes" just to try and scare a customer away from the DIY. Hence he can walk away with most of your wallet.
Like really what a forum for a so called "pro" to advertise.
"ya must be doing him at that price" he implies.
Vulgar and unprofessional wow how impressive.I bet he has the naked girl mudflaps on his business truck.
You look like an intelligent capable woman,go to a reno store ask some questions and grab a friend and tackle it yourself and have some fun.
Keep the creeps out of your house. its safer that way.

Very very few are actual Legally Licensed.

There is no licensing required for a home renovator.

Plumbers and electricians need to be Journeymen to be able to pull permits, and have a contractors license through the City. in rurla areas, it is Manitoba Hydro with juristiction over electrical installations, and the local municipality over plumbing.

The now defunct Manitoba Home Renovators Association advocated strongly for many years to have contractors licensed, however the City and Province were not interested in entertaining the idea.

Holy crap there ( & there was a lot of it thrown around "pro"fessionally I might add by that mbexplorer up dare ^^^ )

Ya your right,.... codes - smodes eh ? Who needs laws or for that matter any over sight... right ?

You really have that "can do" attitude down pack eh ! It's fluckers like you that actually make us money ! ....
Oh by "us" I mean licensed journeyman contracters who actually went to "school" and have been fixing/ repairing / installing/ replacing this shiet all our lives ! ... No we don't know anything !

Obviously ms caramel this man, [Mb explorer] is smitten with you ! ... ( perhaps jealous? ... envy ? )

At least 40 and smitten is somewhat experienced,.. But MB,...you dude are the type of people that "blow up" houses changing hot water tanks ... cuase who needs qualified guys who are educated with that stuff eh ? OOps forgot to ...... " BOOM " or " zap" or " poof" .

Oh and 40 & smitten... I appoligize for grouping you in with "shall tell' as stoopid & such earlier.

I obviously didn't really catch the name ( singular ) associated with which posts once the " shiet" started to be thrown around...

But to keep up with my indecent, unprofessional ... actions and / or suggestions...

Ms caramel... if he is cute and / or single... perhaps a little garter and you could get it less expensively ? .......lol

edjoecdn ..........it's obvious i've hurt your feelings! how come your so sensitive?
Generally when someone goes off as harsh as you just did means you have something to hide.
Yes 40 you are right and proved my point exactly. No such thing as a journeyman handyman.
But for the record edjoecdn,if you have jouneyman status and licensed as a Plumber,Electrician, drywaller and Painter I apologize.your the man with all the tools.
But my money is on your a fake.
Keep on slinging the mud, just like you do when you discuss your competition.

Too much good and correct info, to be a fake, try harder next time by maybe copy and paste text details on the wrong information, too back up what you say. Most has been bang on, but with the hot tubs that's out of my reno back ground

If Ed gave us advice in any voice other than the one we are accustom to we would think aliens got him. Some people do their own reno’s others do not. I always ended up doing things for my sister but when my brother-in-law came over with some plywood to cut I had him mark it and use a circular saw to cut it. I almost thought he was going to cut his leg off, never asked him to do it again.

A person who is handy and has all the tools can do the work for themselves. If a person has neither, has no way to pick up the materials, and wants a professional looking job they may have to pay more than twenty-five bucks and a case of beer.

I can tackle most any job but I also have all the tools to do it and know how to use them. I am in the process of fixing all the mistakes the previous owner made on my house. You would think any sane person would put a trap on the kichen sink.

printer2- found out I didnt have a trap in the kitchen when I dropped a diamond ring down the kitchen sink - had to call a plumber out on the weekend to fish it out and put a trap in at the same time before someone ran the sink and kissed the ring goodbye! Best $125 bucks I ever spent.

Hey guys thanks.... BBQ & printer !
Believe me if i tried to b/s I would have been called on it way earlier and by someone much more creditable than you !!! I know this cuase apparently many have waited ( with bit in mouth ) for the oppourtunity to "roast me".. as I have been ...

Oh i'm not offended when someone comes in spouting off about crap they know nothing about! MB you fit in perfect with this group! Now I will promptly ignore any further comments or advice you have to offer..

Oh and as alluded to by another >>> I noticed you never mentioned any "proof" of the Wrong advice I've given... perhaps your waiting for holmes to cover that subject.... check your video library... ha ha ha !

Do you still have your little home depot orange apron... so how did that bird house turn out ? After all ... all you had to do was paint it ...

enuff said ! ( < ammo 4 MKD.. )

you won't get an answer cause ed is a moron, who just shoots his mouth of and yells louder than anyone in the room. hes six two and too stupid.
My theory on ed was proven ages ago with his unintelligent reactions and behaviour.
ed you can't even spell dude you never finished school buddy, too bad they all can't be shop classes huh?
Your lack of intelligent behaviour in the forums proves your class, and answers alot of questions why your even here in the first place.I don't need to hear from your ex.
