I picked up a fuji fine pix S1000, 10 mpxl x14 zoom.recently, a friend bought 2 for a good price on sale and got stuck with one .. her intended xmas gift receiver had just gone out and bought a camera... so I got it for $200... sweet..

I did have time to do some web research on it before it was offered to me... and realised she'd cleaned up on the price at the time... and by all reports was a good camera...

and noticably better than my previous cannon 5.0 mpxl..

it will do for a while....

A couple of years ago, I bought myself a Fuji finepix s5700 and it does what I want.

When I have been out participating in some of my other pursuits I have taken some fantastic photos, well they are fantastic to me and I guess that is all I have to worry about.

Since digital cameras came on the market I believe the hobby of photography has been a god send as the cost of developing film for those of us who cannot afford to develop our own films make this hobby more affordable

A good photo is always in the eye of the beholder. I started out 34 yrs ago with a plastic Diana camera and got some great shots with that. I found out over 30 yrs that there are various elements to great photos. In the days of film, not so long ago, your choice of film and where you got it developed were a big factor. For those still using film always check with your photo lab and use the same as the processing system they are using. IE if it is a Kodak Lab then use kodak film as their channels will be set for that film as primary.
A great photo for me is all about framing and lighting. Master those two and the rest is easy. Never forget emotional attachment. I have photographed kids and even weddings that to me turned out 'average' but the client loved them because it was them or their kids and that's what they saw.
I used to run informal classes in Melbourne going out doing night shots around the town. If anybody in Melbourne is interested I have a couple of others who would make a small group.

Thanks to CuddlyCanuck & Pedro I bought me one of those snazzy confangled Cannon 400D's ... bloody brilliant. I've had so much fun with it. Pity the above mentioned pair aren't still with us to share in my excitement. Does any know or can remember what photo website CuddlyCanuck displayed her work on... I thought it had a name that sounded something like "Red Dot" but I can't find it.
