"Do they make waterproof cell phones"??? msg 42

Well... maybe not intentionally but I dropped a three year old FIDO phone(out of a robe pocket)
in the pool a couple of months back with a slow motion OOOOOOOOOO nooooooooooooo!

I took the back off, took the battery out ,shook it like mad (drops flying out!), pointed the holes in the bottom toward
a nearby fan and within hours ... nothing!

The next morning it worked! And has ever since.
I was ready to video a home commercial to send to them over that!
The phone was my first cell and a present from my son.
Its red and I call it "Rosy"
I phoned him and said guess what? Rosy drowned, but she made it and I am talking to you from her now! lol

What grinds my gears is people who talk on cell phones very loudly for a very long time especially about very personal things
in a very close space where lots of people have no choice but to be ... like public transit!

^Grrrr - Yes, I find people who talk loudly on cell phones in public places very annoying, too. I guess if they are going to talk loudly, I would rather listen to them talk about personal things, because I find this somewhat entertaining, but after a certain age you have really heard it all, so please be quiet and let me enjoy the silence.

mountain L - You are very sensitive. However, I am not big on the f word as a verb or an adjective. It is kind of like using the word "thingy" in the place of a noun - not very creative.

The "gears" in my injured shoulder are being ground by the fact that the control lever for the recliner mechanism of my chair is situated such that I cannot use my good arm to operate it, and am forced to use the other.

So I ponder what I contraption I might devise to solve this dilemma...

Hey! I happen to like using 'thingy'. It is a good word to replace all the 'thingies' I do not know by name or do not have a name for (this happens a lot when you have kids who create 'thingies' of their own or are your own handywoman and are just learning about a lot of 'thingies'.) lol

What's that 'thingy' for?
You know that 'thingy' that goes into the ....
My son made this 'thingy'...
Do you know what this 'thingy' is?
I'm trying to fix it but I don't know how this 'thingy' fits!
I have this 'thingy'.....
Now where did that 'thingy' go?

I am frustrated by my cable TV service. Their program guide fails to advise customers when a movie is in a foreign language and sub-titled.

When I see in the guide a listing for a movie whose description interests me I program to record it and look forward to viewing it later.

Then I discover in order to enjoy it I would have to read constantly, and so generally delete it without watching it further. If I had been apprised of the language and sub-title aspects ahead of time I wouldn't have bothered recording it in the first place, or got my hopes up.

Damm thieves!

This summer a single mom on limited income, and her young son were in a serious motor vehicle accident on a back road. He was unhurt but she suffered serious non- life threatening injuries and was trapped in the upside-down truck blocking the road for a couple of hours. It took perhaps two hours before a nice couple came along.

While the husband backtracked and finally found a cell phone signal to call for help, the wife did what she able able to comfort the trapped woman and the traumatized boy.

The boy was upset his treasured bicycle was destroyed and the couple stood by while rescue personnel tended to his mom.

The nice couple bought a brand new bicycle and helmet for the boy and delivered it a couple of days later.

This week the new bicycle was stolen from in front of their apartment.

Sigh...

Yikes! I had an awful experience in a dog park with a person who appeared well adjusted in a nice part of the city. He called me a really obscene name and told me to scram. He kept telling me that he would deal with me. This man also said his doberman would kick my dog's ass if he wasn't on leash. The problem he had with me was he thought my foster dog was aggressive which isn't the case.

The guy creeped me out because he knows where I live, so I reported the entire thing to animal control. At least, it is on record.
