ummmm....what's UFC?
It's like KFC....but there's no extra crispy. And the biscuits aren't as good.

| Women and UFC Posted: 2/6/2008 7:50:41 PM | | I simply cannot watch boxing or UFC. I don't know if it is because I am the mother of sons, but whenever I see someone getting viciously pounded in the face, nose broken, fat lip, whatever, I always imagine how his mother feels...seeing her precious child hurt. I can't take it, and I will never pretend to like it to impress some guy. I don't care if my SO wants to watch it, but he can watch when I am not home, or he can go out with his friends to watch. I have spoken to a couple of friends about this, and while some are not repulsed by it as I, none of them like it, and it does not make their short list of ways to spend their evening. My conclusion, the OP is correct, most of the women in the bars on fight night have no interest in the bout; they are there because they figure there will be lots of guys there...not that there's anything wrong with that. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/6/2008 8:04:35 PM | Never heard of it until now...whatever floats your boat I'm saying no and am retreating back under my rock now. | |

| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 9:06:51 AM | I love the UFC. I have to admit that I think that it was more interesting before Dana White took over (I loved that there were no weight divisions, and the rules - or lack thereof - were different). My first chance to see a UFC, was when Tank Abbott knocked out his (huge) opponent in about 20 seconds. I just remember an initial reaction of horror as the man went into convulsion, after being hammered by one of Tank's legendary sledgehammer hits. I gained more respect for the sport watching the Gracie dynasty, and the amount of skill they held. Even moreso when seeing Royce Gracie in person, and realizing how talented he must be, cause he is TINY! Lol.
I'm not gonna lie, my love of UFC grew with my crushes on: (now) Mr. Jenna Jameson, Andrei Arlovski, and GSP.
I have a group of girlfriends that are avid fans, and have made trips to attend in person (including being ticket holders to the UFC in Montreal... grrrr... so jealous). I have also seen some women/girls that try to pretend that they are into it (including a couple of girls I know who have profiles that say they are interested, but when mentioned fighters they had blank looks on their faces).
I find the skill, 99% of the fighters possess, impressive to say the least. I have friends who have competed in MMA, have seen their dedication to training, and have to admire it. The fact that they are involved in such a brutal sport is their personal decision, and really, they are grown men. Not one that I would make, but everyone should respect the decisions of others (as I would want mine respected as well).
So, yes... to answer your question, there are some of us who are "for real fans". I have enjoyed UFC since '95, and imagine I will continue to enjoy it for a long time to come. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 9:50:29 AM | Same here, fishergrrl, I see it as a fascinating sport, but then I come by that honestly, learned at my mother's knee, as she was a fan of heavy weight boxing. I have a lot of respect for the dedication to training these guys have, and how many different things they have to master, in order to get where they are. I certainly have my favourites as well. Forrest Griffin (he reminds me of Tie Domi, the way he just grins when he takes a hit), Rich Franklin, Jeff Monson whom I gained a lot more respect for when he fought Tim Sylvia and went the distance - too bad the reach difference is what cost him that decision. And from a "crush" aspect of it, I echo your vote for GSP and Arlovski, lol. I like the fact that MMA and Pride are entering into UFC competitions, and upping our opportunities to see some more premium fights, especially in the heavyweights, but I do have to admit, I root for the UFC guy in these match-ups every time.
As a side note, my p/c wallpaper is actually the poster of Rich Franklin "before" and "after" the Ultimate fighter season finale... | |

| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 3:04:44 PM | | Personally I love watching UFC .. really really. Speaking as a former tomboy, I grew up watching the classic WWE, hockey and other such 'violent' sports with my male relatives .. and it's stuck with me to this day. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 4:00:43 PM | I really enjoy UFC and really get into the fights - too much for my taste... my ex used to watch my reactions instead of watching the fight himself lol and I got the FIGHT channel for him originally lol (I used to watch PRIDE Championship before it was sold to UFC)... I usually like to watch it with somebody else that enjoys it too... or even on the phone with a friend that likes it and we'll be commenting on the locks and all...
If Im alone though, I wont usually watch it coz I find it better when watching it with somebody else or in group...
I didnt mention that I love UFC in my profile because... I dont know... I like so many things and my list would be too long for the profile I guess lol... and it's another thing that a man can discover about me later on in the relationship when he flips the channels to the Fight network lol :)~ | |

| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 4:20:04 PM | B O R I N G
More fun to watch the neighbors down the street screaming at eachother in the street. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 7:09:40 PM | I don't mind it! Well for about 10 seconds until the first punch or kick to the face and the guys gushing blood everywhere!
Then I mind! hehe (hence why I don't have it on my profile!)
 | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 7:23:38 PM | | UFC Rocks! I don't have it listed on my profile but its one of the few sports I watch, perfectly barbaric! I do like the grapplers the most, it's not as good as it used to be but it still rocks! | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/25/2008 9:22:08 PM | I enjoy watching UFC, have the first 20 volumes on video but WWE is my passion. Everyone thinks Im nuts, what is it with people feeling they have to tell me its fake??????? Ummmmmm Ive been a fan for 24 years and know there are story lines Im not stupid.
I want to find a guy who will be happy sitting watching my anthology of wrestlemania on dvds | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/26/2008 5:19:00 AM | | Ive got into boxing as long as i can remember! My dad and i would sit together and watch the fights. UFC is something i got into later,,,and even dabbled in kick boxing myself. Pretty risky putting something in your profile and not being able to back it up when you're called on it ;) | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/26/2008 6:30:00 AM | Its listed on my profile as something i enjoy and i really do.. whats not to enjoy...
men barely dressed, covered in oil, beating the crap out of each other :p
---------------------- | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/26/2008 6:38:22 AM | | I like watching it. It doesn't matter if the guy I'm interested in likes it. I do. I like Randy Couture, Anderson Silva, Kaleb Starnes and quite a few others. But I've always liked "rougher sports" like that. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/26/2008 8:58:02 AM | woman and ufc huh? me personally love ufc. i love anything that has to do with fighting almost. the sport is unique in its own little way. do you people really realize the disapline you need to be in such a sport? wow i enjoy it alot. i dont see it as guys beating each other up i see as guys doing what they love. if you notice most of them have a passion for it. its better than having them on the streets! lol but you cant say all gurls just put ufc on their profile and not mean it. i love sports and i enjoy watching and playing them there are some truthful females out there. dont be so judgemental. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/27/2008 10:42:39 PM | | I wouldn't pretend to like it, don't think I could, for any guy. If my guy wanted to go see it, fine, but it's one interest we would not share. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/27/2008 11:55:47 PM | In my first post EVER on the Ask a girl forum I would lay money down on the idea that there isn't a single women who likes UFC who wasn't sucked into it by some guy.....just like the women who say " I love to watch NASCAR, football etc."
How many guys do you see with their profile that says "I like cooking, reading to the kids, and making a house a home"? Its a symbol of the male dominated world we live in and women who get sucked into it...... | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/28/2008 12:14:56 AM | ^^^^ Wrong!
I LOVE UFC and all MMA. I got my boyfriend hooked on it! Although he still doesn't like it as much as I do. I could watch the same fights over and he would prefer not to. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/28/2008 11:14:04 PM | So how did you get into it...ummm I like cats? Did you just see it one day and go "wow I really like that"? Were you raised watching violent sports?
I guess I shouldn't have said a single woman....I should know there will always be the deviant in any population....not that I'm talking about you as a deviant cats.... | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/29/2008 12:29:27 AM | Nope not me...although I have had guys ask me if I do like watching it...lol...nope, sorry. This is the same with hockey...people will say they enjoy it and this goes for both men and women...and spend most of the time talking | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/29/2008 7:37:48 AM |
Were you raised watching violent sports? ...yep...
but then I come by that honestly, learned at my mother's knee, as she was a fan of heavy weight boxing. I even order the $40 PPV events when I'm home alone...Hope you don't think that makes me a 'deviant' either... | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/29/2008 8:25:28 AM | | UFC isn't a sport. It's just legalized street fighting. | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/29/2008 10:09:27 AM | Hey, nothing wrong with being a deviant, unless it hurts someone else.
I couldn't agree more mysteriouse. Might as well just give them short swords and inbetween matches feed a few folks to the lions.... | |
| Women and UFC Posted: 2/29/2008 10:36:32 AM | | I rather watch bum fight... although it is pretty sad =/ | |
