When the womens trash rags start printing dating advice such as "don't'say yes the first time or he wont respect you" IE Say no when you mean yes,
Is that no when someone means yes? Or, no, not yet, I'm not ready. There is a huge difference between wanting to sleep with someone (for me), and knowing whether I'm ready to or not...if I say no, I mean no. But, it's not necessarily, no, because I don't find you hot. It's no, no yet. No, never, would most likely be the last time I saw him.
If I was a guy, I wouldn't assume that though no means no...it doesn't necessarily mean not on your life, ever....
And anyway...that sounds like a teenagers magazine, not an adult one. And it is true for some men, that if you sleep with them right away they won't respect you. And it is true for some women, that if they sleep with you right away...they won't respect themselves. They can want to..and not, for reasons that have nothing to do with games.
Just my 2 cents.... | |

You are right, but the guy had better count on it meaning "not on your life" for that particular night--especially if either one of them or both have been drinking. It's a wrap for that evening.

...For the rest of us however, it's..."Get a life there, Skippy!"

| Yes means No? Posted: 2/12/2008 2:42:30 AM | I've only gotten two "No's" ever.
One was because I was being two rough, and I totally backed off. Felt like a right **stard for about two weeks. She did explain why she said no, and I totally respected that. I should note that we were only neckin, not trying to have sex.
The other time "No.." was followed by "...I have to pee." I tried to back off of that one, but it didn't happen. I wasn't allowed :).
If I get a "No" that's the endgame. I will not proceed. But here's a mind bender.
What the hell do you do when Yes means No? I've had that happen many times. I absolutely hate that. You get a free ticket out of my life for pulling that stuff with me. I've booted women out of my house for that.
Ladies and Gentlemen, say only what you mean unless you are playing a game. And only then if you have clearly laid(Ha!) the rules out beforehand.
Cheers... | |

| Yes means No? But, it almost seems like a left-over from teenage boy-hood when they wanted to borrow Mom's car, etc... Or, take their 15 year-old girlfriend into "the dangerzone," and she wasn't ready yet. You get conversations about I'll wash your car and promises to drop little Johnny off and something about blue-balls, and the like (I like to see a grown man get away with that one!). Somewhere between "what we want to mean" and no-means-no" has to change for all of our sakes.
Now, that being said, there is the stigma still about girls who give in too easily. I have even read it in the Forums here... Some think (men & women alike) that a woman has to be seduced or she would seem to be giving it up to everyone. She fears if she doesn't play hard to get, she will end up a one night stand by some guy she might want to get to know better. No phone call...no 2nd date. Just left to feel like a slut.
Funny... A guy is supposed to feel like a big stud if all the so-called sluts sleep with him... How's a girl supposed to be straight-forward under these conditions!?!?
NO HAS TO MEAN NO for any of it to change, though. That is the first commitment we all must make for conditions to improve.
I have a firm policy of: You don't have to say yes... Just don't say no.

| Yes means No? Posted: 3/7/2008 11:02:57 AM | Perhaps the ones who have in your own life aren't talking... Would you admit to being raped? victimized? humiliated? A lot of them go unreported. And the Women's Studies Department at UC Berkeley I trust to tell me the truth. AND, BTW... 1/2 of those women raped will be raped a second time. NO MEANS NO. | |

I've heard several opinions on this and can't really seem to get an iron-clad answer as to when
If you where to ask Mr. Iron Clad himself (Mike Tyson)…..I’m quite sure he would tell you NO means YES…no or, if and buts about it……..

| Yes means No? Posted: 3/7/2008 2:23:20 PM | | If you have to ask a question that requires a yes or no from the person you're dating, maybe you shouldn't ask. I have never asked a woman THAT! So, I never get a no but have received proposals. If that is all I want I would buy some condoms and get a hooker. Its cheaper! | |
|
| Yes means No? Posted: 3/13/2008 9:47:21 PM | Sometimes no = you're asking the wrong question.
Example:
Q. Would you like to come back to my place and have sex? A. No!
Or
Q. Would you like to come back to my place for a DVD and some popcorn? A. That sounds like fun!
|
| Yes means No? Posted: 3/13/2008 10:10:39 PM | and you wonder why many guys are into video games or porn. lol.
No OFTEN means yes. I assume it's to be applied to sex for this thread, but I'm sure we've all said no to doing something (like going out to dinner) and then ended up doing it. We can all change our mind with persistent prodding.
Since one could be charged with rape (usually men as I won't talk about when I said no to women), the first instance a woman says no to a guy as it relates to sex, he should stop making out entirely and look at some porn. The woman could then choose to get rid of him or change her mind.

Obviously i had no patience for this high school behavior and just left but it`s evidence that no can mean anything a woman wants it to mean while we men have to take our chances and if we get it wrong we`re wimps or rapists. yet another way we are unfairly judged.

Does "no" ever mean "yes"?
I've heard several opinions on this and can't really seem to get an iron-clad answer as to when. I've heard things like "no" means "no" if she doesn't like him. So if she likes him, whats the "no" for in the first place? Is it just games people play? OP -- Indeed women and men alike play the "no really means yes" game. They play it all the time, and they have played it since I was a kid. Chances are they'll be playing this stupid game long after I'm dead and gone too.
And it is...a stupid game that people play. The "you gotta figure out if my no really means no" bullshit. I played the game so many times it makes my head spin, but gave up on it in my early teens because it was just so f*cking juvenile. If you like me, then let me know. If I get the "no" vibe, I'll take it to mean just that...NO. Don't get all pissy and whiny because I wouldn't play your games and try to decipher the "yes/no" paradox.
To me, if she passes off the "yes/no" crap, then I take no to mean no and leave it at that. I don't have time for those silly headgames and won't play anymore. I shouldn't have to guess intent or interest. I shouldn't need a code-book either.
If I like you I'll let you know. That's all I can ask for in return. The game players are just shooting themselves in the foot if they think it's "cute" to play this "yes/no" game.
