Being new to the site, I likely shouldn't read posts like this one, but...

I've been around for about 6 weeks out of 4 months and I've met two men. I was approached by both within the first couple of days after posting.

The first and I spent a wonderful Christmas together and although we decided that long term wasn't meant for the two of us, I have no regrets.

The other and I have been chatting for some time, we've met and decided to start down the dating path and I'm really excited about it.

I'm not new to the online dating scene (there are also other sites),... and it isn't the only place to meet people, but I do believe that mind set has much to do with outcome.

Perhaps seasons is ok?

Gee I don't know about alternate universe but it is such a (interesting ) grouping of people within this universe.
divorced
or seperated
or fooling around on their spouses or companions
or single all their life
or those single for life no matter what they do
or those that are not looking for relationships just serial dating
or some that are scared to date but love to forum
or some scared to commit to anything
or some still suffering from their pasts or previous or existing baggage
or some just looking for the most notches on their belt or bedpost
or some that are just great people weeding through the mix of the good or the bad of the previous categories

Did I miss any categories?
Yes Toto we are not in Kansas anymore !!!

Need to start a "# of Rejections in a month" contest.

I've had a few now, and all I'm thinking is WTF?
(k, maybe not the most rejections, but at least in the top ten!)
I don't think there is anything wrong with being picky about who I'll meet, and I don't have in issue with others feeling the same way, but I DO have an issue with dishonesty.
How do you KNOW, with absolute certainty, that this girl, or that guy, won't be your absolute perfect match, if you don't make the effort to MEET them?
This sheds new light on the whole other dimension thing...
You want another dimension? There it is.
Rejection over the internet, the 21st century way of dating.
I know who I am, ARE YOU WHAT YOU ARE, OR WHAT?!

Choke me in the shallow water before I get too deep
What I am is what I am are you what you are or what?

No more or less than any form of internet interaction. There are a whole different set of rules, standard operating proceedures and guidelines. In the real world meeting someone is a little more cut and dried. Meet someone in the checkout line at the store and within a few minutes one can get a basic read on that individual. On line what you see is not always what you get. People have time to formulate a response that they may think will present an image of themselves the other person wants to see. Touched up pictures, using clever angles may well present a somewhat gilded image. Another issue is what does one do when one has multiple responses. It almost forces participants to juggle until they think they are getting the best package. For gawds sake it can be likend to being in the market for a new car. (or being the car waiting for a buyer)

Not in my case. What you see is what you get! Trouble is, the people are looking at my pictures, and don't write. I refuse to message a guy. I admit to being a little old fashioned that way, but I've had relationships in my past where I was placed second, and I want to be first for once in my life. I want someone to pay attention to ME. The me in the writing of these posts, the me in my blog, www.microsofty.org, and the me that's been on here a month, and all the guys have past up. If I am to become one of those bitter women who looks back at all the chances she's GIVEN, I say, so be it.
There's always B.O.B.

Looking at the pictures may well be one of the problems. A person sees an intriguing photo and is complelled to look? Or reads a post and wonders what the person is about only to find that perhaps there isn't real justification (real or imagined) for continuing further? Perhaps the "Veiwed Me" option is not a good idea?

@ keyboard_kowgirl

In reading your profile and looking at your photos, I wouldn't say that's the problem. Perhaps you should try to open yourself up to more opportunities. What's the harm in messaging someone first? Secondly, why should someone have to pay for the baggage you're carrying around from past relationships, ie: Me Me Me. I'm not saying it's quite as self-centred as I'm illustrating here, the point is regardless of what you've done in previous instances, it should always be a give and take... it shouldn't swing the other way just because you feel you've given too much in the past. This post is for people who are maybe possibly

so, let me get this straight? you are looking for some wishy washy people who are

"maybe possibly" kinda perhaps sorta potentially interested in dinner?

damn......... I wouldn't wanna watch that person order dinner........ or is that the part that gets you off???? this whole confusion theme??

who'd have thought, a menu voyour

^^^^^ disclaimer, the above scenario is imagined and could only take place in an "alternate universe"

back to the brothel thread for me :)

"I've been around for about 6 weeks out of 4 months and I've met two men. "

People actually MEET on this site?
Wow...I was starting to believe it was actually POF etiquette to string someone along then not show up for the arranged face-to-face

I think you flatter POF. I think POF is likening to a “house of crazies” or that t.v. where everybody is held up in a house for a long period of time. If you are weak, lonely or feel you don't have anything better to do, you can’t go anywhere because it keeps sucking you back.
