| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:53:43 AM | I ask that question all the time...Why? Because I am in the beauty industry.
And....it is fun to watch people try....because I truly do not look my age. Hardly a wrinkle on this woman's face.
Without looking at my profile....try and guess!

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 12:39:03 PM | I smile and say "My dear, you look great at any age." If she insists, I politely tell her that I have no clue when it comes to guessing ages of women and would not gamble with the chance of insulting her. If she doesn't like it, too bad, her problem. There are extremely beautiful women that look years older and younger than their chronological age depending on lifestyle, genes, stress, botox, plastic surgery, lifts, etc. The most beautiful woman I've ever known shines with beauty from the inside out. I've seen her without makeup and her hair in a ponytail and I've seen her adorned in a $500 evening gown with professional makeup and hair done. To me, when she smiled it truly didn't make a difference one way or the other. To stay on topic, there are questions you just don't ask. | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 1:43:52 PM | | Guessing a woman's age--this is very dangerous territory for a man. Whatever you think you can never go wrong by guessing younger, usually much younger. | |
|
| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 1:54:34 PM | Down South it's bad manners to ask a women her age!! My Mama told me NEVER ask !! What is the reason to ask? If this person is someone you feel you would like to get to know .. "Now well all really know" when someone is ""really not on the same page in life as we are.. Don't fool yourself thinking you can change that only time and life can. | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 4:51:29 PM | | This usually happens when a man asks a woman her age. C'mon guys, haven't you learned already? A man asks my age then I ask him to guess. Geeze. You ask a stupid question you get a stupid answer. | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 5:44:53 PM | We must remember that the OP's original question was:
What the heck do you say if a woman asks you to guess her age??
So that would usually indicate that a woman feels she looks younger than she really is. It really only works the other way (younger, but looks older) with teenagers. That's when the add the halves to the age, like in a week from now I will be 55 1/2. There are really only three ways the age thing pans out: 1.) You look your age, meaning you look pretty similar to most people your age. 2.) You look older than your age, meaning your hair is more grey or whiter, you have more wrinkles, you just look "older" than most people your age. 3.) You look younger than your age, simply meaning that you look younger than most people your age. I have made this mistake at work where I have referred to the "old guy" only to find out he is younger than me (yikes!). Or the guy who says that a woman is too young for him, but that we would look good together, not knowing I am 2 years older than him.
But if a woman asks me to guess her age I always guess young. I would never ask a woman her age, but if I knew somebody who knew her I might ask them. Since I am not dating this would be mostly for informational purposes so if I ask if she remembers where she was when Kennedy was shot I will know it she had even been born yet. (Great line from "When Harry Met Sally": "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?" Answer: "Ted Kennedy was shot?")

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 7:08:57 PM | " I usually just laugh and say she doesn't look a day over 18 "
Good answer !!.....if she presses for a real answer...just guess at least 15 years younger then she looks...hopefully that will get you by.....lol....

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 7:13:11 PM | I would never ask a man to guess my age willingly That's a set up for failure. Plus, I don't mind telling a man how old I am anyways.
But I remember once a guy asked me my age and I did tell him to guess my age...He said "well how old do you feel?" and I said "I don't know, why don't you tell me?"

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 7:13:37 PM | That's a trap question... Designed to make you either lie or feel bad. Whoever asks the question deserves the following answer... "Hmmm... 97?... 96?? 98 !!! ... Am I close??? "

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 7:31:13 PM | I would and do answer..I suck at this game can we play another 1? cause if the womans vain/deluded... operates out of ego... YOu know shes expecting you to say younger than she is.. Ive hit it on the head several times. and sometimes years older .but roughly the same age group... same with ego driven men think they are younger etc... I wont be forced to lie.. So answer is.. either I dont play that game , cause im no good at it... or you tell me what answer you want? by asking me that?... and ps.. I look at some pics on here/read profile/both men and woman.. and think gessh youve had a hard life... if you say your that age and you look in my opinion up to 10yrs older.. I think hmmm I cant deal with whatever has aged you so badly... because its been heavy or your lying.. Im 42.. IM a mother IM a grandmother of a beautiful grandaughter whos 10 days old..IM proud Im alive with a family.. because they are the most valuable experiences /love I can acheive in life.

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:09:10 PM | I'd run away from a woman who asked you to guess her age.. she has "issues" as a friend of mine once said..
I have a funny story to tell though about this.. I am 55 and last summer I was keeping a friend's grand son who is around 8 as a favor. He is just a doll and into that age where he talks too much if you know what I mean. He was telling me the ages of all his grand parents.. parents.. aunts.. uncles.. etc.
He looked at me and said "well Miss Ann, how old are you?" I replied "how old do you think I am?".. he thought... for a minute and said "46". I said "bingo" you got it right you are the best guesser I've ever seen hahahaah.. now I hope he spreads it around hehehe.
To be honest I'd rather be older and look younger than to be younger and look older.

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:14:38 PM | | Lucilou, I took the challenge and didn't peek at your age until I made my guess. I thought you weren't a day over 35 I swear! I hope I look that good, I'd love to look that good now! | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:15:26 PM | | In my opinion it doesn' t matter what you say if she is dunb enough to ask she deserves whatever answer she gets. With the type of women that say "how old do I look?" and "does this make me look fat?" it never matters what the answer is you will be wrong. | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:24:42 PM | | Generally speaking -- the older you are the more accurately you will be able to estimate age... which is a skill for which there is little deamnd -- even in a carnival. | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:33:27 PM | hmmm .lol not a fun game to play.. but peoples auras/eyes give it away... not been wrong on age least their decade yet... but can tell when a woman wants a younger answer.. smiles/peace to below post I agree absoultely... | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:44:07 PM | If a woman asks you to guess her age she is vain and egotistical AND insecure about her age. It indicates SHE thinks she looks younger than she is...we have to pay for the sins of those who have lied to her all these years.
REFUSE to guess but if she insists DON'T lie to her...you are creating a monster.

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:50:50 PM | | If someone's younger than me, I look em strait in the eye & say, "Ummm, about a hundred." If they're older I Say, "29 again!" | |

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:51:00 PM | just looking at thumbnail pics, and gut reactions
Iwanttobehugged, I'd say 52 lucilou, I'd say 42
(edit : lucilou - thumbnail was a little deceiving, but even when I checked, I still was very surprised)
I've never been asked before, I've been asked how old I am, and when I tell people I'm 24, they usually say holy sh!t, since I have two kids, and am usually the one giving out advice on relationships (even to some of my friends who are 30+). Of course I sometimes get the opposite reaction because of how immature I am sometimes. Either way.
If ever asked by someone I was interested in, the only answer would be a smart ass answer, prolly much too high considering if I go too young in comparison to my age it's touching on barely legal.

| Guessing a woman's age Posted: 2/9/2008 8:56:51 PM | OP, in some cultures it's extremely rude and uncouth to ask someone what their age is, but I think that in the immature, rather adolescent, culture of the North American continent, the subject of age is discussed so prevalently because it's typical of the superficial value system that many embrace. Personally, I would never be so rude as to ask a person, or invite a person, to discuss the subject of age because to me, once adulthood has arrived, it becomes irrelevant. In my opinion, there are so many more important and interesting subjects to talk about, and I think I would be very bored with someone who brings up this hohum subject! | |
