Can anyone tell me why drinks in bars are so expensive here? Prices in the liquor stores are roughly the same here and in PEI but drinks in bars here are wayyyy more expensive. A beer or mixed drink there is about $3.30 and a cooler about $4.25. Are prices the same everywhere here or is it just the one bar I've been to that has high prices?

Downtown, the cheapest beer is about $4.00. I had a friend say last night that it was $4.25 one place he went last weekend. The prices were low until the smoking bans came in a few years ago, and business has dropped quite a bit. A few bars that used to be hopping on the weekends (like West Sides on Kenmount Road) have been, until recently at least, almost ghosttowns. | |

Posted: 6/3/2008 3:08:20 PM | Having girlfriends to do stuff with from time to time is good. However, it isn't always what is cracked up to be when going to a club to meet men. I had friends who would try to sway a males attention..or who would 'butt in' on my male conversations, or just stand there listening rudely...or drag me off, or 'him' off towards the dance floor and so on..
Sometimes 'Solo' is the best....
Men often don't like to approach a woman mixed in a group of partying females.
If anyone would think on what I am pointing at I am sure they would see why Solo could be better. Just pick places where going 'solo' isn't so bad.... | |

I would suggest, however, that you keep it confidential to female's mailboxes so that it stays females only, at least until we get a gang of us, and then we could have an open invite after us females got to know each other a bit better. I know without a doubt there are many of us out there in the same boat.....not wanting to go out alone. Go for it! Keep me posted! | |

With everyone's busy schedules, it seems that weekends may be the best to get this going....whadda ya all think?
Due to our completely unpredictable weather, it is hard to plan too many days in advance...but I am watching the forecast at http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/nf-24_metric_e.html.
I suggest an outing outside that doesn't cost anything.....unless we decide to all go for a coffee or tea.... | |

On Sunday right now all I have planned is lunch thing.
Is there anything in particular that someone wants to do? How about meeting at a Tim Horton's for coffee and goodies? | |
