| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/13/2008 3:45:48 PM | there is something erotic to me about a womans body being tightly wrapped in a skirt or maybe tight slacks, corsets etc. The way the garment squeezes her and appears to take control of her body almost dictating her body to conform to a certain shape has a sense of bondage domination to it.
nudity just sorta ruins it for me.

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/13/2008 4:49:31 PM | it depens on the Country you live and the other factors concerning maturity. For example a country that makes women cover up head to toe for religous reasons who freak if they saw a woman nude in the local market. If I saw a woamn in a thong at work it might be extra arrousing compared to seeing the same asz on the beach where it's normal. it's all eves apple. mazana de eva. the forbiden. | |

1. Body exposure has become more acceptable and there is something to celebrate in comfort with ourselves. 2. But I wonder what portion of arousal actually comes from seeing the human body revealed or overtly exposed, and what portion (if any) comes from the suggestion, the enticement. 3. Which is more provocative, concealment or exposure?
Dear OP, your post raises 2 provocative questions and 1 equally provocative observation (which I have taken the liberty of numbering above for easy reference!) Re: your observation, that would be 1. I believe that today's OVER exposure is a 21st century buzz kill. (e.g., Little is left to the imagination, the art of seduction is nearly dead (after all, why bother?) and what's worse, far too many women and men (hell kids too) feel inadequate in comparison to the exposed images they are bombarded with daily. (Big sigh.) 2. For me, 75% is suggestion and enticement! as Polonious said, the clothes proclaim the man and in my book there is nothing better than engaging my powers of imagination and the anticipation it creates. 3. My vote is for concealment with the hope of exposure. Great thread BTW!

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/14/2008 9:33:07 AM | Re the OPost
Maybe it is my Mediterannean DNA, but I like reality and naked truth! And real naked female made by nature skin/body, over man/desiger made clothes (except for glasses). I guess it is a matter of worldview, so of course peoples' opinions differ (see also Max Webber's theses on the impact of religion on social and other mentalities and customs).
PS. I am not addressing the issue as related to POF photos because the Opost did not refer to them and the topic has been discussed in mucho other threads!

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/14/2008 9:53:45 AM | I think it depends entirely on the situation. I was once dating a very conservative girl who would out of the blue do something totally against her normal day-to-day character and flash me. It was extremely provocative, sexy, and a turn on.
I've also seen more than my fair share of strippers who bare it all int he show and yes, its a very nice thing to see but a well done strip-tease show can make those others performances bland indeed.
I don't know about other men but I like a good teasing.

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/14/2008 4:19:08 PM | I think if women keep on showing their body too much, it turns to get less appealing as it becomes sort of a normal thing for guys whereas if women's body parts were not that visible as it is now a days, men would most likely get hard ons by just looking at a tiny bit of a woman's body part, such as legs, cleavage etc.
And....
That would decrease the use of viagra since almost everyone would get hard-on naturally

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/15/2008 8:34:58 AM | . 1. provocative serving or tending to provoke, excite, or stimulate; stimulating discussion or exciting controversy;
I just posted that because I think some of you are getting provocative and sexy mixed up.
I dont think a woman dressed like a librarian is provocative, but sexy maybe if you're a guy who's into that type of thing. To be sexy you don;t need to be competely nude or completely covered up either. In my own opinion there are more factors to determine the provocativeness, or sensual/sexyness of a person, as in how they act and how they carry themselves.Being partially exposed or covered up can both be sexy in their own respects.

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/15/2008 8:50:28 AM | It's neither and both. I model nude for art classes since my job keeps the bod in very good shape, and I can often catch the flow that (especially middle-aged) women are having some lascivious thoughts. Only once have I begun to get erect when working. And wearing a suit in a hot tub is just silly. So full-on nudity seldom arouses me, but hints of what I am missing or not seeing, often does so.
Bra peeks, thong straps, nipple projection, panty flashes, garters...these are all erotic. Women bathing topless? I think all of them should.

Pinup girls from the 40's perfected the art of being just sexy enough to not be boring.
Exactly! I have vintage pin ups as an interest in my profile but I am the only one so far that listed it. I think that they are sexy, provocative and alluring. Nothing wrong with that!

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/15/2008 10:42:08 AM | I used to date a gal that had a smokin' hot bod (in my opinion anyway) and it used to drive me up the wall when she'd throw on a comfy set of jeans a sweater. She was tall, had long hair and nice sweater kittens. *Sigh* it all worked so nicely. | |

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/15/2008 1:15:32 PM | it doesn't really matter, cuz if you have a nice body you can thell through what you're wearing, if its actually nice. if they're a monet, it may trick you.
i would have to say it really doesn't matter to me covered up or not. if you turn me on you can do it in a mechanics jumpsuit. i like dressing freaky. sometimes i wear a corset, sometimes a long sleeve shirt. if i feel trampy then i'll whip the ladies out.

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/15/2008 4:32:56 PM | | carmi bella raises a point that I feel I should address, since I chose the word provocative over sexy. While there is a distinction between the words provocative and sexy, the two also overlap. Something is provocative if it calls forth an emotion, purposely stimulates a response. Provactive attire could include a much broader range of clothing than just sexy clothing, but the responders have grasped the spirit in which it was posted. Sexy attire also stimulates a response (a sexual one) and what triggers our sexual response varies beautifully, but is often subject to subtle and sometimes not so subtle social influences. I find the conversation itself thought provoking and posters seem to be having fun. I also very much appreciate word clarification, and thank carmi bella again for revealing this additional layer of the conversation. | |

| Is concealing or exposing the body more provocative? Posted: 2/15/2008 10:24:08 PM | | You could look at it this way. There is only one way your body can possibly look when you're completely naked. But ... when you put something on there's variety. Hence the booming lingerie business. | |
