If the recieving user has added you to their contacts and set calls to be fowarded to their phone you will connect with them live. (think of it as a fancy conference call system)

Does this mean will be able to talk to them on our phone without actually giving them our private telephone number?

Admin....are you saying that we will be able to "re-enter" a phone number? right now it is just carrying me to an toll free number and then tells me my phone isn't recognized....and to please verify my phone number.

Interesting system...just finished playing with it some and I'm certain there's a lot more to explore, and believe me, I like it......

......butttttt.....I have this bad vibe going on right now. Basically, I've heard from a lot of women (in forum posts) that they get some really abusive opening emails from guys. Basically just rude, oftentimes vulgar, certainly demeaning. So what's to stop these guys from doing a contact and leaving a viscerally (IMHO) more scathing voice delivery of their stupidity.

Don't take this wrong, but I see some potential for abuse and some real challenges to mod'ng this thing effectively. Other than strongly placed warnings at the point a person enables their account...or possibly some warning when the 513 area code phone number is reached, what's to stop someone from flaming?

eazk....I can see what you are saying, but I think that it could be controlled itself by the recipient. I put to where all calls would come to my inbox....not directly to my phone. those who really know me have my "real" number. If I received a voice mail from this system that went over the line of me being comfortable.....I would do the same as I would as if it were an email. Block the user.

Now if I can just get the dang thing to work

[Wow, this is so cool...haven't tried it out yet, but neat idea admin.

How do you manage to offer these things on a free dating site?

Thanks for always making the pond a wonderful place to swim!!]

My thoughts exactly! Keep up the good work!

Hmm, gave it a quick test and it asks for me to call a 514 number in Montreal... only problem is I'm in Toronto... if it gave me a local number I'd be all for it, but if it's going to be long-distance anytime I want to contact someone with this, I'm not sure I'd be terribly keen on it.

Edit: after a couple tests, it looks like it just randomly generates a number for Canada. In the states this is easy since just about all cell plans include unlimited long distance. Here... not so much.

I think it's a great feature however; can I ask why it is only available to those with a photo posted?

SOOOOOO... When I have a complaint... I can just call you or another mod and **** at you directly? If so...BEST FEATURE EVER! Even better...If someone pisses me off in the forums...I can leave a voicemail, instead of humiliating them in public. Great feature bigfish!

gave it a whirl... works here just fine! waiting for return call now

BF.. .u did say 'u believe it's only working in US'.. don't ya know??? or glump... are we for sale....?

if I get a big phone bill outta this errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I called a POFer in 'another state', the system gave me a local number from my city to call him. Seems he has to set it up on his end first... so I went ahead and put it in his inbox for now. I just had to make up a 'pin', then dial the local number given to me, here on the screen.

I had to use my own phone. Didn't hear him, just got promt to 'leave a message'. It didn't say his or my POF or real name.

Wonder if each of my 'contacts will have their very own 'local' number.

EDIT: they do! called another one! just thought of something... POFers who I've been writing to... maybe won't want a 'voice connection'.... one reason or another.... oh dear... like God forbid, their really a guy/girl when bio states otherwise.... well, this should be interesting...

All calls should be local, no hidden charges.

Phone activation isn't a local call but it takes between 5 and 8 seconds.

The SMS coverage outside the US is spotty as jangl doesn't have deals with providers like Telus.

How about a system or feature that allows us to not only add video/audio to our profile but possibly even leaving audio/video messages if we chose.

Now THAT would be a useful feature.

Or at least where we could use THIS current system NOT only with a phone but also a microphone through the computer...sorta like what Snapvine has set up.

I can just call you or another mod and **** at you directly?

Not a Chance ... lol

I tried to sent a message to my friend down the road but it said I would have to pay long distance charges for the number I was told to dial.

According to the Admin's Original Post on this thread:

But you will be charged your standard fees by the phone companies if you are calling a long distance number or are sending SMS's etc.

EGADS! If I am understanding this correctly, what you have just done or are attempting to do is eliminate that flimsy ages old EXCUSE that "we could not possibly have a phone conversation like 2 adults. You might "get" my phone number and torment me till I die." My guess is that there are many folks already trying to figure out a new excuse for endless emails!

Nice Job!
