But hey maybe we'll get something done in the third...

| Bad news guys (and girls) Posted: 12/5/2009 8:51:07 PM | | The Oilers have a fledgling win streak going ( 2 games) and you would think theyd have some momentum going. Well, youre wrong ( I love MXC) 'cause IM finished work out of town for the year and am on my way down to Edmonchuck. And as Ive proved in the past, when I actually get a chance to watch, they pretty much just sucketh mightily. So sorry about the playoffs, in advance, but be prepared for a looong winless streak. Hmm, maybe I can get Lowe and Tambellini to sponsor me to a nice winter vacation somewhere... far far away.... hmmm | |

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/12/2009 9:39:14 AM | Gee it's quiet here..Almost like the MacT fans might have to admit that the change in coaching staff is helping............a lot!Pretty much the same roster as last year, missing what was considered our best offensive player, missing our number 1 goalie....and a 5 game road win streak??..Gotta give the current coaches a pat on the back. Sure the players win on the ice but without the right motivation , preperation and tactics you just don't win 5 in a row!
On a side note anyone notice that Penner and his old linemates on the Ducks (Getzlaf And Perry)are all tied for 5th in league scoring?? What a line the three would be now!

Great road trip to be sure. The team punched and clawed its way to five straight wins and now they are... oh, wait a minute... they're 12th in the conference. Well... that is better than the dead-last in the conference that they were a week ago. Yeah... new coaching staff sure was the missing link.
I have no problem admitting that the coaching change has helped the team. However, there's a big difference between that and the "this team is one good coach away from being a contender" attitude that MacHaters blew around last year. That was my issue all along. This team is a far cry from one good coach away.
I will say this much: One of Kevin Lowe's final moves as GM is looking to be one of his best. Anyone out there regret the Raffi Torres for Gilbert Brule trade? Not that there were any haters of that trade to begin with, but Brule certainly is looking like a first-round draft pick this season.

| Sweet home (game) chicago Posted: 12/12/2009 6:40:10 PM | | Aha,but in retrospect Pat has the boys playing like a team for once since early in the start of the season.Hope they can keep it up and to see the wall back between the posts...even though deslaurier and dubnyk are chipping in nicely, lets see what happens! | |

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/13/2009 9:42:55 AM | Yeah, gotta admit this road trip has surprised me. Last night's game was completely out of character. I mean, it would have been completely in character for the Oil to either give up or to flub it up by letting in 8 empty netters as they try to tie it up.
As for the Torres/Brule thing, Lowe did surprisingly well . And I will always miss Saint Torres for that one hit in Game 3 of the Sharks/Oilers tilt from 2006 that turned around the whole complexion of that playoff series. God bless!

Amazing how quickly some comments can come back to bite you in the a$$. Welcome to "nine days later" patent. The Oilers are dead last in the conference... for the second time this season.

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/23/2009 7:23:56 AM | So true. Different coach, same results. Actually, I think they're worse off if you compare seasons. I don't think I've been more frustrated as an Oilers fan than I have been lately. The other night's game was completely demoralizing as a fan and for the players. Oh well, there's always next year.
On a positive note, Roli made some sensational saves in NY the other night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlT9wRqg8sE

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/24/2009 8:47:47 AM | From gap-mouth MacT to "tomato-face Quinn" He looks like he's going to burst a blood vessel sometimes. If we could read his mind, he is probably saying "Wow, MacT was right... these kids really CAN'T learn a damn thing." They're good and focused for a while, then... LOOK! A blinking light!!!! The Edmonton Oilers... the ADD team of the NHL
If they can just let Carolina pass them, they will have a 27% chance at the first overall pick in June. Then the team will REALLY look good for the future!
Enjoy the Boxing Day game tick tock

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/24/2009 5:45:35 PM | Thanks, RBG. Yeah, I'm taking my nephew to the game, so it should be fun...umm...or extremely disappointing. The latter scenario seem more plausible.
Funny you mention that they are incapable of learning anything new. I was listening to the game online when Rod Phillips blew a gasket and called Grebeshov "dumb" after another one of his 'screw ups' wound up in the net. Lol, I was surprised to hear him say that on the radio, but it was quite refreshing to hear someone say publicly what many of us fans have been thinking. He went on to say how many games in a row he was responsible for giving up a point and that it's like he's incapable of learning what the coaching staff is trying to teach him. I'd have to concur because I can't believe how many times I hear this guy's name in conjunction with some 'fail' or 'epic fail'.
Merry Christmas, RBG! And to everyone else in this thread! Enjoy the holidays!

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/28/2009 12:03:53 AM | Well, if them oilers are clever (certainly were not so much on Saturday... lol), they will watch some of the highlights of the Canucks game tonight and take some notes.
Like, flip pucks in on Kripplesoft from center ice. He's not paying attention until a player actually carries the puck in the zone! lol!

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 12/29/2009 8:10:00 AM | Nice start ... Brutal ending!!
30-some shots at Kip, and only 1 goes in. The Oil may shoot, but they shoot RIGHT TO THE GOALIE, everytime!
I wanted to go out and watch the game in Calgary, being this was the first BofA since my move to cowtown ... GLAD I DIDN'T! It's hard enough dealing with the Flames fans on FB, let alone face to face... lol
Go oil! | |

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 1/1/2010 6:54:54 PM | As much as I dislike the Oilers, this particular restaurant has a bad reputation for overcharging, do an Internet search on them. The whole story makes no sense, why would the Oilers argue over such a small amount, the owner of this restaurant is just trying to get more publicity....this should be an interesting story as soon as the local news outlets dig a little deeper and we see the true story come out in a few days!! | |
|
| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 1/1/2010 7:37:28 PM | Those reports came from Calgary reporters, but here is one from 630 CHED in Edmonton:
The Oilers claim a Calgary restaurant trying to gain publicity from the team
4:40pm Click here to email Tim Calder 1/1/2010
According to the Edmonton Oilers, the owner of a Calgary restaurant is trying to use them as a publicity tool.
After last night's game in Calgary, the entire Oilers team went out for a pre-planned meal with their wives and girlfriends at the upscale, downtown eatery Osteria De Medici.
At the end of the night the players were presented with a bill for close to $19,000, a figure that struck them as being grossly inflated for what they consumed over their roughly 90 minute stay. The players, while still waiting at the restaurant, asked for the bill to be re-calculated at which point they were presented with a revised cheque for $12,381. The team paid for the bill with a credit card, and left.
The owner of the restaurant called Calgary media this morning, claiming that the players refused to pay the bill until they were threatened with a phone call to the police. Oilers officials call the story "ridiculous".(dt/tc)

Posted: 1/1/2010 10:04:43 PM | | Hey, it's a recession, he has to make more money somehow, the owner of that restaurant seems like such a douchebag too...in the interview they showed him saying he wasn't even worried about the money and that he was gonna donate it to charity, haha, yeah right buddy.

| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 1/2/2010 8:49:42 AM | I heard that when the Oilers saw the bill they demanded to have 50% taken off because, just like most of their games this year, they were only there for half of it | |

POW. Right in the kisser!!!! That (the second part of that statement) would be a little funnier if it weren't so true!!!
Sounds like a lot to me, although clearly I could never afford to eat there anyway. But $19,000 in 90 minutes? Thats over $400 per person. Then again, throw in a couple of cases of Dom or Cristal and that takes care of half the bill right there.
|
| Who woulda thought....... Posted: 1/2/2010 10:03:24 AM | LOL ... that was funny skye
I don't know if any of us will know the truth. Since the restaurant was willing to cut the bill back a fair amount I am wondering why they would do that if the bill was right. This doesn't look good for either the team or the restaurant. Too bad because I have been tempted to try them out. The restaurant ... not the team LOL
