| The future looks even brighter. Posted: 7/3/2008 10:30:02 PM | I would have LOVED to see Laracque come home.... If anyone screwed with our main players, he was the man to put them in line.
Not to mention his City input. Still love him (don't always cheer for him nowadays though) lol

| A Lowe Blow Posted: 7/8/2008 3:28:34 PM | lol! What a great week!! Flames sign Bertuzzi and then Lowe finally stands up to Burke. As they say in internet parlance, he owned him! It's about time Lowe stood up to that windbag, but I find it odd that Bettman would rush to stifle this fued now...I mean, he let Burke get away with his barking for a year and the minute Lowe says something, he decides to step in. Go figure?!?

PS. Ironically, the Nucks fans absolutely love what Lowe had to say and are completely in agreement.

| A Lowe Blow Posted: 7/8/2008 6:16:07 PM | Well I think most of knew Lowe had the 'cajones' but was trying to play the higher road, but eventually you gotta say what you feel.
I had not heard that moron Bettman had stepped in - not a surprise though. Just wish the Oil might have been a little 'luckier' at the signing table

| A Low Blow Posted: 7/21/2008 4:09:28 PM | Nice to see Horcoff staying around for a while more, but it bites that Reasoner's heading to Atlanta. Roli and Garon better keep an eye over their shoulder nowadays too it looks like. That new Deslauriers kid doesn't really sound like a spectacle so far, but ya gotta know he's young and hungry. (24) The big boys saw fit to give him a two year contract the other day, so here's hopin'.
DROP THE DANG PUCK ALREADY!!!

|
| A Low Blow Posted: 7/21/2008 5:11:18 PM | can't drop the puck just yet, there is too much Rider domination left in the season, want to see the Green go all the way before I go to cheering for the Oil - one sport at a time for now
and yes, happy to hear Horcoff is here for years. A good move I believe. Yes a goalie could be a good thing - I wondered if they might have taken a chance on Emery, but I guess Lowe and Mac weren't that desparate yet - could be interesting if Emery gets his head on straight for when he comes back in (2?) years from Russia.

| A Low Blow Posted: 8/27/2008 3:55:53 AM | OK considering the AJHL regular season starts next week, I feel it's time to get the hockey threads back up and running. So, for the sake of conversation (and seeing's how no one touched on it when it happened), what's everyone's verdict on the uppewr management changes? Personally, I think getting Lowe out of the GM chair was the best move the team made all summer. | |
|
| A Low Blow Posted: 8/27/2008 9:08:27 AM | | He may not be GM but he still has control so it's really a lateral move and gives less control to the new GM. | |
|
| A Low Blow Posted: 8/27/2008 2:17:47 PM | Captain Ethan Moreau and his buddies turned themselves in last week in Vancouver after having quite a bit to drink at a bar, getting into one of their SUV's, reversing into and knocking over the bartender's motorcycle and driving off, presumably because the driver was drunk....quite the role model you have there, lol...but not surprising given the history of off ice shannanigans that Oilers' players seem to get themselves into....
On a further note, it was surprising that Moreau was not hurt on the play...usually one hit and he's done for the season!
On an even further note, this incident is not surprising, seeing as every Oilers' game looks like a bad accident.

| A Low Blow Posted: 8/27/2008 5:23:22 PM | "He may not be GM but he still has control so it's really a lateral move and gives less control to the new GM. "
Actually, it's not a lateral move whatsover. It's a significant move up. And yes, Lowe will be involved in making the GM decisions, but at least all 29 other GMs will talk to Tambellini. And the Oilers are unlikely to continue overpaying for the talent they have.
|
| A Lowe Blow Posted: 8/28/2008 9:14:39 PM | Yup, I think it's likely Mr Katz's wishes are gonna begin coming to fruition this year. I'll stick my neck out a tad and predict the Oilers at least make the playoffs this year and even say I think they get past the first round. Firey, pretty talented young bunch, with what looks like a REAL future now, so I think they'll be "balls to the wall"
GO OIL!!! | |
