| Go Oilers Go Posted: 2/17/2008 5:39:16 AM | Well tick I hate to tell you but I do have brothers, and you aren't one of them......and until YOU get to actually know me.....or I personally attack you, then some of the things you have said ( in my opinion ) are uncalled for, but hey if it makes you feel like a better man for it, you just go ahead. Like I said before......not judgeing Fox.( I personally think she is a great person )......if the comment had been more rude or personally stated then I could see her comments......but the way she PUT it painted all Flames fans with the same brush.....I myself liked the outcome of the game....and as you yourself have put in the Flames thread on occasion of the Flames losing a game......much worse comments than that.......but no one ever made comments to you about it........"it wasn't a personal attack".....just a statement. | |

| Go Oilers Go Posted: 2/17/2008 5:45:45 AM | ^ I know you're not my brother in the physical sense...duh! Never mind...I don't think you'll get it. There is a friendly rivalry that permeates all sports rivals and trash talk is just a part of it.
As for Fox, it is not a matter of the trash talk or of any individual item that a certain freak of nature posted in here, it is a history of passive aggressive feuding that has been going on long before this post and not just isolated to this thread. Like I said, ask Fox, or if you want, ask me in email and I will spell it out for you. Put it this way, any other Flames fan could have said the same thing or worse and she would have played along...however, this particular person has done some underhanded things.

I am happy with the results of tonights game.... Most knowledgeable Flames fans wouldn't be...hmmm...ok...you're right, they don't exist...well, most fans of other teams would understand why this wouldn't be a good thing for the Flames. Look at the standings and you'll realize that the Nucks just got two points which puts them in a tie with the Flames for points.
|
| Go Oilers Go Posted: 2/17/2008 8:39:32 AM | ^^ That's what I was just checking this morning, before I came here ... the standings. GAG! I didn't want the Oilers to win (the good ol' battle of Alberta ;) ... but I also didn't want the Canucks to get two points either.
As far as the two who posted they liked the outcome of the game: why? Is it because the Oilers lost? Do you not see that the Canucks winning was of no benefit to the Flames?
OE - Im making those questions rhetorical, don't answer lol.

So...when did the Oilers replace the Flames as the most hated opponent of the Nucks? That was the feeling last night at GM Place in Vancouver from the get-go and it never relented throughout the night, picking up intensity as booze-fueled Canuckleheads challenged Oiler fans to fights after the game. Anyway, I have been to many Flames and Oiler games here over the last few years and have always noticed that the Flames fans bore the brunt of hostility - probably due to their recent playoff rivalry and standings within the division. There were times where I've seen Flames fans have a glass of beer dumped on them or get challenged to a fight as they were walking up the stairs to get a beer and even once where I had to intervene - yes, I did actually help a Flames fan once - because a father and his young son were being surrounded in a washroom at GM Place. For some reason, the same level of hostility just didn't seem to exist towards the Oilers and their fans, even after they were knocked out of a playoff spot by the Oilers in 2006. Last night was different. There were thousands of Oiler fans present in the building. Everywhere I looked there were Oil drops and the familiar copper and blue. In one section of the nosebleeds, there must have been a couple of hundred Oiler fans that completely overtook that section and were very vocal throughout the game, chanting, "Let's Go Oilers!!". They were so loud that the Nucks fans actually stood up and started encouraging other Nuckies to try and drown out the Oil fans with a Nuck chant. When that didn't work too well, they resorted to chanting "Oilers Suck!!" after every "Let's Go Oilers" chant. The hockey game itself was viscious and the Nucks fans were booing throughout, especially after each replay on the jumbotron. I heard a lot of fans say they really enjoyed the game because it was very entertaining, as most Nucks/Oiler matchups have been over the years, but this game had all the extra fireworks. Many were considering this as the best game of the year from a Nucky standpoint, which many of the commentators on the sports radio seem to agree on...they saw it as a potential breakout game for Vancouver. Anyway, in typical Nuck fan fashion, they have to try and beat the crap out of opposing team's fans. One guy in particular, was challenging a bunch of Oiler fans to fight right inside the building. He was about 6'5" and was yelling stuff about Pronger having more cups than the Oilers and all sorts of trash talk, but they just decided to ignore him. Eventually, the staff asked him to leave which wasn't the smartest of ideas since there were about several hundred Oiler fans gathering outside. No word of a lie, as soon as he went through the doors, he ran straight up to a group of Oiler fans and swatted an Oiler cap right off of a person's head. The Oiler fans subdued him and recovered the cap....lol...but man, there are some nutty fans in this city.

Let's keep this thread clean and alive !!
At Tick Tock, I was SHOCKED at the animosity both teams displayed during that game! I wondered what I have missed that had sparked the Nuck/Oiler feud! I am happy to see the Oilers play a more physical game though :)
As for fans physically attacking and berating other fans, I don't call those kinds of people "fans". It's one thing to support your team and teasingly mock them, but to turn it into an all out war is ridiculous and despicable! People like that should be ashamed, as should the team and City they are cheering for.

Hmmm....with the Flames loss the other day, the Nucks now are in 7th and the Flames in the 8th spot. The Coyotes won today and have the same number of points as the Flames, but are in 9th because the Flames have a game in hand. By some fluke, the Flames happen to be playing the Coyotes tomorrow. If the Flames lose tomorrow, then they slip to the 9th spot in the standings.

By the way guys, I feel I have to apologize. Not all us Flames fans are so sensitive as to take every little barb and taunt personally. Just don't call me gay! :P

Okay....you f@g!
OK I apologize immediately for that...I just had to post it. Had you said that to me in person, that's exactly what I would have said back...but I would have said it in a way that you would have immediately known I was joking. No harm no foul :P

| Ease up a tad. Nucks might soon be all us western canadian fans have left Posted: 2/20/2008 5:16:04 AM | That score flattered the Oilers. They played three minutes of hockey And that's being kind of ya. Pathetic show of talent. If a person could even call it that. Looked like KEEP-AWAY from the Oiler kids sometimes. Particularly when they were pretty much just figure skating, and even when they turned it up a bit and managed to come within a few feet of the puck now and then. Tough to say just WHAT the team needs really, as they can fare pretty well in most departments sometimes, then totally fall to pieces at others. They even turned it up for a few minutes this game but............I guess they're still young. I'd say on defense is pretty obvious though. Things aren't too likely to go well when there's slim chance of even getting it out of their own end. C'mon Katz. I think they need a couple SOLID CORNERSTONE INDIVIDUALS. The kinda guys who don't rattle, PERIOD!!! Kinda like that Ryan Smyth guy used to be. | |

| Ease up a tad. Nucks might soon be all us western canadian fans have left Posted: 2/20/2008 9:23:18 AM | | Didn't Nashville do the same to us in the previous game? Anyway, it was very frustrating to watch and they made us look foolish at times. What's up with Pitkanen? He looked a step behind or disinterested and coughed up the puck one too many times. I believe it was the winning goal that could have been prevented if he actually did his job. I know, I know...I'm asking for too much. | |

| Ease up a tad. Nucks might soon be all us western canadian fans have left Posted: 2/20/2008 9:45:08 AM | Up 1 game, down the next...........
Pretty much as expected for a team missing its top center(Horcoff),top role player(Torres),supposed top blueliner(Sourey).... Add that to the season long parade of injuries and no one in their right mind can expext this team to make the playoffs............

| I'd rather watch arena football than cheer for the Canucks Posted: 2/20/2008 11:27:23 AM | Agreed...on both counts.
By the way, I felt like punching every one of those fans in the face that toot that stupid whistle every time Tootoo was on the ice. Give me a break! One of the lamest ideas ever conceived of by a fanbase. I'm surprised they don't turn on vibrators when Legwand touches the puck.

Yeah....It's gotta be tough living life being named after a frilly dress.
Good thing he doesn't play in Vancouver. They wouldn't bring whistles to the game in his honour there....instead, all the guys would "gown up" for him

Man o man, I swear I'd go postal on those fans. I'm ready to pick out my grassy knoll. Stupid rednecks.
