|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/30/2009 10:51:55 PM | Well Steve Staios gets the third star in tonight's game! He had a great scrap with Clutterbuck but I think the highlight of the night was when little Nilsson checked Boogaard and the Boogeyman fell down! I'd say that was a 40-50 minute game for the Oilers. The last period was certainly nothing like the first two. Their passing got worse as the night went on. They shouldn't have let up in the third but kept on the pressure. Did they learn nothing from the game on Tuesday? | |
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/31/2009 7:29:50 AM | Yeah, only listened on the radio but I kinda found it was amusing that Big Mac couldn't take the Boogeyman out in a rumble prior to the hit, yet a munchkin like Nilsson toppled him. | |

Hmmm ... 10-2 loss Tuesday. 3-1 win last night. I'd say they learned a little something
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/31/2009 10:52:27 AM | | Actually McIntyre didn't lose the fight between him and Boogaard. He didn't win but he didn't lose either so Boogaard was neutralized and never caused any trouble for the rest of the game. | |

| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/31/2009 11:06:34 AM | Yeah I saw that fight on the highlights and it looked like Mac had spent most of his tiime off reading the book "Fighting My Way: The Zach Stortini Guide to Fisticuffs" Although you can't really blame him for being a bit tentative in his first fight since the orbital bone fracture. | |

I think you're missing the "XOXO" at the end of the title.
Pretty good game by the Oil against a team that has given us grief in the past. I looked at the standings and we're now 5th in the conference and the Wild is in 10th. If we had lost that game, the positioning would have been reversed. Things really are that tight again...lol. Anyway, there are a lot of "4 pointers" coming up this month, so the month of February could really make or break us.

| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/31/2009 2:31:55 PM | How are you enjoying your stay in Etown Tick Tock??
Did the big storm scare ya? (and I'm not talking about Big Mac's fight) LOL
Keep winning boys!!! 5th place is nice, but you still have to fight to keep it!

|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/31/2009 2:50:28 PM | | Oh hey, Im sure Dustin " the Wrath" Penner will bring his usual A-game, and level of intense, bonecrushing physicality... oh man, we're so screwed lol | |
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 1/31/2009 3:05:47 PM | I'm having fun, fox! That storm was kinda freaky especially since we're up on the 13th floor of a building overlooking the river valley. I thought the living room window was going to be blown out!
And yeah, the boys have to keep on winning. It really is do or die time. Why does this remind me of every other year?? lol
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 2/1/2009 5:46:09 PM | | Loss to Nashville!!! Unacceptable! | |
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 2/1/2009 6:58:14 PM | ^^AGREED!!!
From 5th to 8th, just like that.
Exciting because of how close everyone is, but FRUSTRATING at the same time!!
I missed the game, thinking it was on at 7:00 :( ... (I blame Grey, he ALWAYS alerts us when a game is early!) lol So now I won't see them play again until Thursday!! (stupid ppv anyway... and cheap ass Foxes....)
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 2/2/2009 4:28:34 AM | Yeah, it was a bit of a letdown alright, and I figured it'd be a gimme that ya'd be on it already Fox, weekend and all.
Honestly, the Oilers dilemna is becoming brutally frustrating, for me at least. The line juggling is surreal as was obvious yet again. Worse still was that once Hemsky, Horcoff, and Nilsson scored, they were matched up thereafter. (like that was MacT's plan or something??? ) Hard to believe that Hemsky's doing as well as he is actually, since he plays with more different guys almost every game, than one can count on their fingers, rather than finding two compatible linemates and grooming their interaction. (just like the rest of the team) Oh well, at least the boys are managing to stay in the race.
I agree the PPV is getting outta hand too. 2 games only 4 days apart. At least we still get a few freebies. (cheap ones anyhoo)

| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 2/2/2009 4:38:18 AM | Gotta do something with that first line, bit. Did you see the way Penner played in that Buffalo game? Now, I know that loss was a total team effort, but had he scored on half his chances it would have been 3-3 after one period. And he's been nowhere since. I think he's still on his all-star break Someone (can't remember who) wanted to go with him yesterday and he just shrugged his shoulders and skated away. (He probably said something like "not on the Sabbath" )
Sorry, but as long as Dustin Penner is considered first-line material, this team is destined for mediocrity.
As for PPV, I had said at the AS break, their marketers really should have put more thought into it...when you consider the withdrawals everyone was having during the break, I would bet had they made the first game back a PPV, it would have been the best-selling PPV ever. Now the schedule is really working against them. I'm sure not too many people were interested in shelling out money for Minnesota, especially after the Buffalo debacle. And this week Chicago? Yeah, I have a whole lot of interest in seeing another 9-2 game
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 2/2/2009 6:39:26 AM | | Yeah, Penner seemed to have some pretty decent spark for a while following his "benching" but it seems to have ebbed away and is pretty much non-existent again since the All Star break. | |
|
| Hockey Rules!!! Posted: 2/2/2009 3:05:49 PM | i like the still on there all star break comment i knew vegas was a bad idea | |
