| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/6/2008 8:07:27 AM | Gomes is a punk. He needs a very long suspension given this is the 2nd time hes been involved in something like this this year. | |
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/6/2008 1:41:34 PM | If it weren't for the fact the White Sox still have 15 games against them, I'd wish for a turnaround in KCs fortunes. They've been bad for so long, Just the fact they haven't folded is somewhat remarkable. Never the less, we'll take the sweep.
Twins coming to town for 4 this weekend. It's time to put up or shut up.
Alexi Ramirez is starting to show why the Sox took a chance. O Cabrera is starting to perform as expected . Swisher and Konerko aren't pulling their weight yet and there are a few signs the bullpen's hot streak may be cooling.

Chipper Jones could be MVP if Braves win division
Speaking of Chipper..........while you guys are duking it out up there, did anyone see Chipper hit his 400th last night? Not only is he my hero, but his bat is red hot right now!!.......................
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/6/2008 11:17:09 PM | | ^^^^^^^^^As a baseball fan I respect Chipper....as a Mets fan however I hate the SOB! LOL | |
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/7/2008 8:01:43 AM | | Hiroki Kuroda looked pretty damn impressive against us last night...4-hit shutout, complete game win & struck out 11 Cubs. We should be able to bounce back today against Derek Lowe with our ace Carlos Zambrano on the mound. | |

What's better than June baseball?
Or March, April, May, July, August, September and October!!!
Wouldn’t it be a kick if there was a WS played only in Chicago? I don’t believe they have ever been close to meeting , have they both had a true winning season in the same season? I’ll have to go look that up.
why the hell did they suspend Lester?
Actually, according to the “unofficial bean rules” once an incident happens in a game, ejections and warnings have been given out there is to be no more “plunking”! Period! Not really good if you happen to have a guy out there having a bad day and can’t hit the broad side of a barn at that particular time.
Anyone that plunks someone later that even “appears” to be in retaliation of earlier events is supposed to be automatically ejected by the umps. Lester hit CC in the 5th and Aki in the 7th and the umps didn’t do what the appointed “Official” felt should have been done so he suspends Lester which of course sends a message to the umps to do their job to keep control.
My argument would be then why wasn’t Reyes also suspended for hitting Youky in the 8th??? I understand the Rays have already received the bulk of the bans but fair is fair or should be anyway. Everyone acting like a jack ass should be swatted with the same moron bat, take their big boy time out and we can all get back to the games.
Speaking of Youk, according to my announcers during last night’s game with the Rangers the fist a cuffs between him and Manny was more something brewing for awhile. They heard that Youk has a tendency to be “enthusiastic” in the dugout when he gets calls against him. He slams things, throws his helmet and the like (I think just about every team has one of those guys even sometimes the poor water cooler gets blamed) so Manny had enough and said something so they both had to be restrained.
Speaking of Chipper..........while you guys are duking it out up there, did anyone see Chipper hit his 400th last night?
I didn’t get to see the game but watched the clip, why I gave him kudos in one of my previous posts as well. He’s having a good year.
Speaking of kudos, some go to Kazmir, AL Pitcher of the Month and the kid started the year on the DL, love that boy!
………and the Griffey watch continues…………

Last time that happened was in 1906....it's going to be a very fun summer with both Chicago teams in 1st place.

| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/9/2008 6:01:42 PM | | Congrats to Griffey, who finally hit that magical home run #600 tonight against the Marlins. | |
|
| |
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/9/2008 9:53:11 PM | Great for Griffey. Shame only about 15,000 fans to see it. Should have been at a place that sells out the stadium.I enjoyed watching his career. Makes me feel old, I saw his dad play! | |
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/9/2008 9:56:31 PM | | The punk ass fan who caught #600 isn't willing to give Griffey the ball & plans to keep it. He will change his mind in due time. | |
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/10/2008 5:52:03 AM | There was a lot of talk about Griffey being shopped around last year. I was hoping the White Sox would pony up, as I've always marveled at his abilities. I wonder where his numbers would be if injuries hadn't stolen 3+ seasons?
And the White Sox juggernaut gathers more steam-7-0 homestand- only the 4th time in team history; 40 runs scored in the 4 game sweep of the twins; 19 taters in the last week; Paul Konerko legs out a triple (the most amazing of the aforementioned stats); Carlos Quentin cools off? no problem-Joe Crede and Nick Swisher turn it on.
The only cloud on the horizon is Bobby Jenks spotty performance- He blew one save against the royals and gave up hits to the 1st 2 men he faced yesterday. He got out off it but with the big leads the sox have been running up, Jenks isn't getting the work he needs to stay sharp. I know, if that's the worst problem, I should shut-up.
A visit to the Tigers up next-That team is an enigma-The paper Tigers should be eating up their opponents-Hoping this isn't their breakout week.

Last time that happened was in 1906
Started reading up on it, the White Sox took the win, could be time for a rematch. Though the first one did seem to spark a curse for the Cubs, so might need to rethink it. Might not be such a kick after all.
As if the Braves haven’t had enough injuries, hopefully Chipper’s isn’t serious.
The punk ass fan who caught #600 isn't willing to give Griffey the ball & plans to keep it.
Supposedly, there is a slight controversy. A young 25 year-old man claims to have caught the ball and it was snatched from him but a Marlin’s official says a middle aged man with season tickets presented the ball for verification. He wouldn’t give his full name.(Remember the whole court case over Bond’s record breaking ball?) It isn’t unusual for the ball to be sold to someone wealthy and then eventually given to the player or the Hall. Recently, a few fans have traded the ball for team items, but I remember Big Mac’s was sold, then toured and was later given to the Hall. If it was me personally my only request would be to present it to the player myself, shake his hand, get a and a .
Meanwhile, the TB Brawlers…eeer, I mean Rays hit 3 consecutive homers last night. Matched their season high 18 hits, Navy and Longoria had a big night. The AL East is all within 7 games……sweet! Game lasted until after 2 am, I need a nap.

My request would be a little more expensive: I'd give it to him in exchange for a $50,000 donation (tax deductible, of course), to the Milwaukee Youth Sports League...I think he can afford it, and I'd be willing to bet he'd do it...

| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/11/2008 8:29:35 PM | I am VERY pissed about Soriano's injury! However, the Cubs did go 9-5 without him earlier this season & had several games with 10 or more runs. It won't be easy, but we can get it done!!
Looks like the Cardinals will be without Albert Pujols for awhile also.
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/11/2008 9:07:41 PM | They are dropping like flies along with Pujols and Soriano…
Iguchi Glavine Wainwright Weeks Church Stewart Hairston
Anderson scratch from start for sore knee. Jurrgens skipped in rotation due to ankle. Alou benched day after he comes off DL.
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/11/2008 9:30:52 PM | | I jinx the Phillies. Bragged about sweeping Brave, then play the Marlins and win series. They lost 2 games Dan Uggla walkoff grand slam after striking out first 3 times up. Flash with the loss. Cant believe all the injuries, at least Holiday came off DL yesterday.. | |
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/12/2008 10:51:48 AM | | Im wondering if I rounded up all the best high school players in the state of Texas.... Maybe theyd stand a decent chance against the Yanks this season. My god people! Your not gonna climb aboove .500 when the best hitters in the league are averaging 3-4 runs per game. Pitchers are are averaging 4.00 ERAs. Do the math. It wont work! | |
|
| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/12/2008 6:21:23 PM | Jim Edmonds won some Cub fans over with his clutch game-tying HR today in the 9th inning! | |

| This Week In Baseball Posted: 6/15/2008 12:40:19 PM | | 17-9 with Alex back in the lineup..Nice road trip, and it's looking like things are rounding into shape. However, I still would've preferred to see Joba in the pen | |
