Posted: 3/27/2008 7:30:27 PM | Don't give up just yet!! I haven't been able to talk to brightquartz, yet, but I'm hoping the dance can still be saved. I'll be calling her tomorrow night and get all the details.
From what I have been able to figure out so far, is that the person who first started planning this has backed out which upset someone and then it just snowballed from there.
I know planning any event is a big committment but a person has to be willing to follow through.
I'll try and post an update by Sunday. After Sunday I'll be staying with a senior while the family is away. I'll be away from home for a few days but might get the opportunity to get something done when I get home to feed the cat.
If anyone would like to help me save this I'd sure appreciate the help. | |

I will assume that your talking about myself gennienut?
I did have everything planned all brightquartzz and cal969 had to do was post it,I was on the phone quite a bit and got us a bar,drink specials,motel at discount prices,brunch etc...
I think this is a case of too many cooks in the kitchen for a lack of better words.I could not be a part of it any longer and be true to who I am and how I want people to know me,I refuse to go into details of what happened in a open forum a tad tacky and immature in my opinion!
I really don't see the problem everything was in motion like I said all that was left to do was post it and I even copy and pasted what a party thread should look like and sent it to brightquartzz.
I have done all I could do if anyone wants me to call my girlfriend and tell them who will be hosting the event I am more then glad to.
I would like to know who though within the week,only fair to let her know who it will be.I know its not a problem for her who host just the date has to be confirmed or canceled before too long.
Anyone thats wants to take this challenge on good luck and count me in as a guest with 3 guest of my own.

You know how us little fiery red heads can be with tempers (yes it is all true  lol) Get mad first, and think clear later! I also want to say I am sorry to anyone that may have taken offense to anything that I have said or that was applied, that was never my intention for anyone to get upset or hurt. I don't harbour any bad thoughts about anyone on this site, I think everyone is wonderful! If you think that you have been wronged or are upset with me, please keep it to private, and i will try to answer any questions. I am hoping that everyone comes to the dance and has a great time.
Lack of communication and too many cooks in the kitchen sort of speaking had me over the edge, mixed with cold meds, no sleep, 2 sick kids and a flu not a good combo!! So please forgive me, I am only human.....lmao
The dance is still on, and i really hope that my little 2yr old fit doesn't stop anyone from coming! We still need a couple of socialites if anyone is interested. The offical party thread has also been posted. So please feel free to post your hearts out! Don't forget to practice the macarana, i need someone up there with me looking us a silly as me....... | |

Maybe we can put this thread to bed and let the party thread be the main source of any questions/concerns about the dance(only the dance)if theres any private issues do just that keep it to private please.
I hope its everyones intentions to just let it go and lets all start off with a clean slate.I have said it on the party thread and I will say it here too many cooks in the kitchen can bring things to a boil pretty fast,this party only needs one host or a power couple so to speak for it to work(my opinion only).This is the first major event that is being held on P.E.I. so there was bound to be some conflicts,great learning experience for anyone that is going to host the next big event(again only my opinion)!!!

Just wanted to say that I think this is a great idea. It will be great to have the opportunity to meet some people from this site. I am from the island and just recently moved to summerside. There seems to be a lot of confusion though, as I am not sure if the dance is still happening. I just recently found out about these forum pages, as I have been on this site for a few months now and never did see them...lol. I am new at this and would be interested in finding out more about this event.

Posted: 4/24/2008 6:04:02 AM | This really sucks! Here in New Brunswick a few of us were planning to attend the party in S'side, now I see that it's not happening because of a few ruffled feathers. Man! You all were so quick to jump on each other over silliness but couldn't be quick enough to save the party. That's really too bad.
It doesn't matter if anyone was 'at fault', from where I'm standing I don't see any 'fault' , all I see is another opportunity for PEI to shine thru was thrown away. Come on you guys, I was really looking forward to coming home and kicking up my heels!
Any chance of it being put back together, can someone follow up on the plans that were set in place before and just change the date? Won't someone try it? I don't need much of an excuse to come home, just would like to have a party as a good reason to do it. It would be so easy to fill the car with NB POFers and cross that bridge! | |

Posted: 4/24/2008 6:31:48 AM | I wish it could be salvaged. But, the hall was booked for another event before I had the opportunity to talk to the manager. The manager said she understood it was cancelled not that someone else was taking over.
The next possible date is June 14th. I'm starting back to work in May so won't have the time to do the work necessary.
If I can get a few helpers, especially ones in or around Summerside, then I'll try to organize a dance. Once the helpers are on board, the next step is to find a hall we can have for free.
Another thought, get a group together and attend a dance already planned. | |

It was cancelled two weeks after you contact myself asking if you could take over I have all messages and dates,including the one sent to my girlfriend saying who would be in touch with her.
My girlfriend was told to give it two weeks then take it out of my name,I think thats plenty of time for someone to touch base with the manager!
I can't think of one person with half a brain that would leave a hall booked in their name if they weren't hosting or maybe not even going to attend the dance,there was plenty of time to contact her!
I will accept blame on being naive enough to think that some people were mature and responible adults,but I won't accept blame for the dance being cancelled!!!
If someone is brave enough to host a dance then i'm sure that the hall could be booked(for free), like I said on another thread Viv is a very sweet person that would go out of her way to help anyone.
Good luck to anyone that wants to take the task on!

Anyway .. Gennienut, I would be more than happy to help organize. I live outside of Summerside and have no vehicle = BUT .. I think there are a few friendly fishies up around here who'd be more than happy to form a group of volunteers. There will always be those who talk. blahblahblah .. The rest will be there.
There are more than enough members to make a Great Party!
Anyway .. in an effort to avoid the b.s. - I'll pm you Gennienut and anyone who is serious about helping out / organizing something (not whining about what isn't or wasn't done! geez) .. Positives ONLY - pm me .. I won't volunteer you miss Gennie .. but I think between the two of us we can make something fly! I've got a notion .. I'll pm you on it!

When the fingers have been pointed at you i'm sure that you would defend yourself as I have done.When your the main topic of discussion at a Charlottetown coffee meet again i'm sure you would be upset at the childishness of the whole thing.
As it states clearly on my profile I will always stand up for myself,family and friends.
Trust me I would like nothing better then for this thread to die but I won't let people that know nothing about what happened to cr@p on me either.

BUT, the person left everything in place as it had been set up, all that was needed was for some other person to grab the reins before they hit the ground! So, the party isn't going to happen exactly as first intended, get over it! And get on with setting up another great event.
I really don't like reading that a friend of mine is being raked over the coals because she had to take care of other business, or broke a hip, or got upset with someone! Who cares why things happen, things just happen! So, get it together, start acting grown up and get that great fun ball rolling again! And leave the finger pointing and name calling and whatever else to some other forum, this isn't going to help you all get a PEI POF party happening.
I re-read the entire thread here and you guys were headed for a whole lot of fun, I hope you won't waste all that energy,please have a party instead!

This is why I have such respect for you lady mara.You always say exacly what you feel you need to say.
I do believe that a party/dance is in the planning stages as we type lol.
I hope so PEI could throw a great summer get together,with the right people handling it.
