Then there are the health risks to think of? (pregnancy not an issue anymore for me) Maybe after a month or two of dating, we can hit the sheets & I'll take him for a test drive? If that's a problem for guys they can keep moving on to the next profile/woman! | |

Most of the women I date are classy and driven, the type that many would think wouldn't give it up on a first date. And I am not ultra aggressive when it comes to trying to get a woman into bed. I allow the natural progression of things, but just find that most women are quick to signal their desire for sex, and rarely does a woman ask me if I have protection. Actually when I pull it out and ask her to grab it from my pocket alot of the time they scoff, seem surprised or ask why! | |

Women need to retrain the men who are mature enough to be empowered to truly love women. And not settle for a little genital friction. Does anyone really need that, except ones so hungry for love an/or approval that they can't say 'no'.
The older men grow, the more apt they are to desire sex on the first date. Many of us have been through two or more marriages looking for Ms. Right and sadly, the best part of those unions was the sex. So why shouldn't men who no longer seek committed relationships not immediately go for the big S? | |

I have plenty of both and a high sense of self-worth and self-concept and yet I have no problems with sex on a first date or even casual sex, providing it's safe, to a degree. What it says is that I'm confident and comfortable with myself and my sexuality. It says NOTHING about my self-respect or dignity. | |

Now multiply that by how many women you have slept with on the first date. And now how many of those were without protection? HIV can go undetected for many years so how many of those women could possibly have HIV and it never show up on tests. How many of those women have you slept with? Studies show that someone can have HIV for up to 15 years before you test positive for it. Although the average is that someone has it for around 5 years before being tested positive. Now .... you tell me whats wrong with having sex on the first date. Or for that matter, on the second or third. Why does this bother me? Because maybe one day I meet one of these women that have repeatedly had sex on the first date, I date her for a while and I have sex with her and contract the HIV virus because she and most of those that she slept with decided sex is way to fun to worry about speading a disaterous virus that has no cure.

These kinds of threads amuse me as the vast majority of women who post in here will insist they never have sex on the first date. I guess the 30% don't participate in forums.
Guys, have you ever heard this line: "Well, usually I'd never do this one a first date." Some women will have you believe you are a special exception to their usually iron clad rule about having sex on the first date. I'm not convinced! | |

All it means is that at sometime in their lives, at least 30% of women have had sex on the first date. It doesn't mean that that they have sex on every first date or even that they've done it more than once. The fraction of first dates that turn sexual could still be very small.
But if one was to poll women that had EVER had sex on a first date, I think the numbers would be a lot higher. Since it wasn't determined whether the survey meant /b]ever having had sex on a 1st date or continually having sex on a first date, the whole study is really a crock of crap.

There isn't a problem with this world 1948, so long as the women in question knows that you're just looking for sex. Although that's what the 'intimate encounters' selection is for.
The only problem I had with the results was that so many are NOT using condoms. Although we all know they're not 100% safe, they are better than nothing.

You are perpetuating fear here. You need to do a little more research on the subject or perhaps interpret the results a little clearer. Yes, some may have HIV for 5, 10, even 20 years and maybe NEVER find out. But these people, unless they are HIV-resistant (which is impossible to get an accurate figure on it's prevalence but they say it is astronomically low), are either stupid for not noticing any abnormal symptoms and never having been checked for STI's over the years. I go twice a year for a test, whether I'm in a relationship or not. You get a physical at least once a year usually, why not schedule a test at the same time. It takes seconds to perform and they do it at the same time as your physical. It hurts like a b!tch but I think the assurance is worth it. When a person comes into contact with a person how is infected and there is fluid transfer that person is immediately infected when their body ingests the other's fluid. From 24 hours to 2 weeks the person generally gets really sick with flu like symptoms but there are a number of outliers that are not normal to the flu and people need to educate themselves. If the infection is caught early enough it can actually be prevented and stopped! IF it's caught and treated by a doctor within 2 weeks. Once the virus is in the blood system and has activated CD8 T-cells, which destroy the infected CD4 T-cells at alarming rates, there's no stopping it, only slowing it down. The list of symptoms that people get and most people get the majority of them when infected is long! If I came down with even a 1/3 of the symptoms I would be seeing a doctor and not accepting "it's just a cold or flu" as an answer! I'd want blood work done and knowing this information about HIV nowadays I'd ask for an STI exam, especially if I'd slept with someone new in the past few weeks.
They say it takes up to 6 months for HIV to appear in an STI test but this is in the rarer cases where the infection does not take off initially as it should. This may be because they have a strong immune system and the body is able to withstand the infection for some time so the T-cell counts do not drop too far to be noticeable. But if you are going 5 years without discovering you have HIV you either are one in probably 600 million that is HIV-resistant, or you are an idiot for being sexually active, possibly not using protection, and not getting tested regularly!
I myself am careful who I date and subsequently sleep with. I don't go to bars and look for the easiest girl in the place to score with. I don't ride the team bus either. And I ALWAYS use protection. I've only ever NOT used protection twice, and both times were with my ex-wife of 10 years when we were trying to have a second child. I'm always prepared and if not I'll find protection or end the session. And generally speaking casual encounters don't include oral sex for the most part so I don't worry about dental dams. And realistically just HOW MANY everyday people who aren't involved in extremely risky behaviour such as needle sharing or random group sex do you know of that have HIV?! I bet the numbers in this demographic are PRETTY small in comparison to the average here in Canada or the U.S. where HIV/STI education is fairly prominent in most schools and in the media. I'm not worried about it. Back to my initiate comment here to end this, you are perpetuating fear. If we worried about all these things and ruled our lives around avoidance we'd be one unhappy society. Do you avoid people who smoke in fear of cancer? But any exposure to smoke or exhaust fumes from a car or gas appliance or fireplace could cause cancer down the road. Cell phone use has been linked to brain tumours and cancer. Certain foods are said to cause certain diseases. But yet sex is somehow an easy target to avoid because many people hide behind faith because it does not condone premarital sex and this is an easy out. I'm not saying this is why people wait until marriage. I'm saying that it's easy if you ARE waiting for marriage to attack sexually active people and talk about the dangers of sex before marriage. I"ve been having sex now for 15 years and have had a good number of partners and have never contracted anything. And I'm not worried about contracting anything in the future. None of my friends have either since their teenage years when they were stupid. | |

She happens to be a doctor for the for the state of Iowa board of health dept. They are the ones that handle all these cases in the state of Iowa. She said that its very easy to have the virus for up to 5 years without it being detected. Even longer if the person is healthy. The cases where they find it in 2 weeks or even 6 months are in people that lead very unhealthy lifestyles, ie, doing drugs, not eating properly, and the like. She said its more common to find it between 3 to 5 years after contracting it then it is any other time.
Do i have sex before marriage? Of course but only after i have dated the woman for a month or two depending on how often we see eachother. Have I had sex on the first date .... of course. but it was when i was very young and very stupid. Dont get me wrong sex is awesome but i will not take a stupid chance of getting HIV just for one night of fun with someone i never took the time to get to know. | |
