Well in my experience, namely here, I'd have to say that I've been approached by more men looking for a quick piece than ones looking for a serious opportunity at dating ONE person.

I just hate hearing all the women screaming about us men being bloody pigs and only looking for sex and running away with our tails between our legs as soon as we get it, only to have some of them doing the same thing! It's like the sheep in wolf's clothing. I've been privy to the women who hit and run as well, but I just shake my head at the idea.

I think what you are experiencing is the online dating phenomena of the decent men not being as active and aggressive as the players or those just looking for a good time. Oh wait, did I say online dating phenomena? No, it's more like dating period. I bet if you drilled down the numbers the aggressive, player types are contacting women at a rate of 20:1 in comparison to the guys who are either looking for friends or to actually have a relationship with a girl. These guys just mass mail and hope for results. Volume breeds volume, and volume breeds results, no? | |

Posted: 3/5/2008 3:45:45 PM | Deuce - that is where things obviously get lost in the translation...let me explain. I was married 15 yrs, had 4 kids - was a brood mare, and maid...then divorced. Afterwards I went through a period that I looked for love and got used badly...so I said "f" it...if guys are gonna treat women like trash, then fine...give it right back...then I got serious again, fell in love, married - that lasted 5 yrs, until he decided that he liked me so much that he had to share me, and actually tried selling me to some of his friends...end of relationship...i've been done with that relationship now, for over a year and a half...in that time, I discovered POF - i came to several events, had tons of fun - but not naked fun. Sex for me is not entertainment, unless its with someone that has my heart.
So before u think I am some "s**t", know the story.
I am not gonna deny that I have had some fun in the past decade (in between longterm relationships), however, to be honest, I hated every second, cause I do place more value on myself. I admit that I am ashamed of some of my decisions, but they are part of me, and helped mold me into the person I am.

Understood. I'm sorry to hear about your track record but ultimately, as you mentioned, our past shapes our future. I am who I am today because of the things I've endured in my life and I'm a much better person for it all. If I could go back and change the hardships I dont' think I would. Sure at the time they weren't pleasant but now I am in a much better position due to them.
And I don't think you are slut. I've never gotten that impression from you. You've used the term sex kitten but I consider myself to be very liberal sexually. There's not much that is taboo in my eyes, or sheets.
So riddle me this. If you DO think this way, is it because you just slept with someone and feel ashamed and wouldn't want to face them again, or is it to lash back at men in general even though the guy you just slept with didn't actually do anything to you aside from hopefully share in a night of fun with you! | |

I'm not sure if they are just looking for the best looking guy of the bunch or what the deal is. I'm not really looking but I have been conducting sort of a social experiment on my own here. It's not done deceitfully. I mean I don't tell people that is what I'm doing but at the same time if I get a response I'm not going to drop it. I'm contacting people I'm actually attracted to on some level and if they responded I'd be more than happy to engage in a conversation or six and maybe meet up if things worked out that way. But I have contacted over 70 women in the past two months and am always friendly and thoughtful in my emails. I don't ask very personal questions, and I usually lump a riddle or a joke in for humour. I'm respectful and only ask if they'd like to extend the conversation beyond the email and if not thanks anyway, and as expected I've only heard back from four women. I make sure I only contact people who have similar interests and preferences. If the profile says "no divorcees or daddies" I'm not messaging them. | |

I suppose so. People have tried to tell me that dating is a numbers game and I just shake my head. This isn't Pro Line ffs, this is my life. (that sounds more dramatic than I need it to be, but whatever...)
Also...I think there could be something learned about the first statement you made. Men and women are crying foul at the people just wanting sex. They are also the ones not playing the "game" aggressively (myself included). So either, we need to step up our game a bit or we need to hush ourselves.... | |

Wow..thats amazing...I mean I knew it was bad on here but thats not very promising at all is it......
To be honest while living in MB the only way I met anyone was to get out and go to all the POF get togethers. It was a wonderful way to meet people and when I returned home here to BC, I have taken that example myself and try to get people to get out and meet instead of relying on the hopes of contact via email
Interestingly the ones that are true to themselves and to those on here are really the only ones that will actually come out. They are the ones I will spend time talking to here in emails.
I do not believe in the old adage "Nice guys come last"..rather I believe if you wait and be patient, nice guys always get what they deserve...someone special....don't loose the faith there....just don't try so hard on here...less disappointment for sure...

I have no problems meeting people in real life so I stick to what I know. If I meet someone from here though I won't look past it because it was "online". I don't believe nice guys finish last either. I think nice guys who only rely on that one feature as a crutch might finish last, but those of us who can stand on their own two feet and think for themselves, and are STILL nice guys in the end have nothing to worry about. I haven't been to any events though, as I'm still new here. But maybe in time. | |

There has been this woman I've come across a few times. I "fav'd" her quite a while ago cause not only did i find her pictures as attractive to me but her profile also was interesting and along similar lines to my thinking. ( ** but i know and have been fooled by many "creative" profiles in the past so I was leery ) .
Well just the other day I finally sent her a little email... no not one of those "your hawt can I do you " types but a sincere conversational one where i described exactly what happened... " I added you a few weeks ago and finally got up the nerve to email you" ... and a lot more substance...
Her reply > "nice approach" ... with a few additional words on either side, likely just to form a proper sentence ! ( yet her profile stated , no players or game players, yadda, yadda, yadda ) .
Okay help me here, but wasn't her reply an invitation to "play " , to start up with all the lines and stuff to "out do " the current competition ???? WTF ? You state you don't want games yet start the game with the first email ????
Yup, meeting in person is something i am much more comfortable with... I can see right thru the delusional ones that speak out of their azz all most instantly! ...
So the question remains ...... " to PLAY or not to PLAY " that is the question.
One other thing i want to shout out,... I've met quite a few women who "weren't that type" and "were good girls" ( their own words ) ...well that was until a few glasses of wine then all of a sudden they are both willing and wanting "it" ....like tonight, like right now !
Hmmmmm,.... if it's this easy for me ? I wonder how many others have had such a "hard time" getting horizontal with this honey ? ... Did I follow thru ? .... No in all but three cases.... But ... in my own defense.... I was a little tipsy and horny too... so why not ?
