and, it's all because of you ladies going after young studs!

i might be boring, but i'm safe!

But we were talkin bout dancin here weren't we?

If I had the money I would love to open a club for folks over 40 to come out to dance. The bars here in town are chock fulla young kids. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Heck, I had my time way back when. I just hate feeling like I need to find a parking space for my walker!!! I don't do bars that often as I find them too crowded, too loud. But I do love to dance!

OK, Stop the presses, I have Never been on a dance floor, I played in a band but I sat on my rear, (Drummer). Dancing never did anything for me, so why is that? I would always rather go Hunting, Fishing, or racing when I was younger, guess I'm still that way. And I don't like bars so I guess dancing sort of was never in the picture.

...A couple of years ago a few friends and I headed to "Cowboys" downtown during stampede and we ladies needed to use the powder room...well I tell you it was filled with 20 somethings, prancing around in short little skirts and heels, giggling and tossing the hair. Well geez....talk about feeling like a chaperone at a school dance haha

Yes, lets open the "Over 40's Dance Club and invite everyone over from POF

It is funny but today I was at a clients place of business. I sell commercial insurance. They have just taken over a bar/dinner club. Here in my town there are plenty of bars where the young ones go to have a good time. These new owners are young fellows themselves. They want to cater to the over 30 and up folks. They know that is where the money is! Fine wines, good food. I sincerely hope they make a go of it as there really are not that many places in my town where someone my age can go and feel comfortable. I am by no means ready for the grave. I love to kick up my heels. But honestly? To go to a bar, feel like a sardine in a can, groppeling for my space to even stand? Naw, that isn't for me. Much rather entertain good friends at my house!

clubs and booze are fantastic!

i started drinking when i was 13. when i turned 17 i joined the marines and started drinking regularily, until 1988, i was 53! my liver gave out and 2 doctors said that
i died! it took 5 days in ICU.

i haven't a drink since! i had tried aa for 14 years but couldn't quit!
God had to strike me down before i got the message!

Over two years ago i introduced myself to you.
Every since I've been begging for a live-in companion.

I just came from the doctor, I have a year to live! thanks to the 62 years of smoking with those drinks!

it's mighty exciting when you win at scrabble!

I am a 50 year old man how loves to dance. I think the reason I don't like the bar scene is because it is mostly younger women you find there. I am 50 but look 35 and I am not interested in younger women. When I go in a bar and notice that a younger women is interested I just wonder what we could have in common. Besides, what 35 year old wants to see my 50 something body naked?

Whoa! I see why this thread was posted. I'm in my late fifties & I still go out dancing at bars. Here in Tucson there are alot of people my age out having fun. Don't let people give you a hard time about going out and having fun. You need to find someone who has the same mindset as you. They're out there. Ya just have to be at the right place. There just isn't anything more sexy to me than a man around my age out dancing and having a good time. Not all those guys are looking for younger women!

Papa, I saw your profile pictures, believe me when I tell you, you may look 40, but 35? No way!! A lot of women I meet tell me I look 20 years younger than my age. They are shameful liars. I do know I don't look as old as a lot of guys my age, especially the ones that have been smoking since they were 13, drinking since they were 17, and getting far too many rays since they were able to walk.

I'm not going to lie to you Papa, I probably wouldn't want to date or marry one, but I am interested in younger women. In fact, I am taking one to dinner tomorrow evening. She's about 10 years younger than my daughters and cute as a button. We are strictly friends but I do enjoy the looks we get whenever we go to a restaurant!

Anyone else see the contradiction here?

I am 50 but look 35 and I am not interested in younger women. ... Besides, what 35 year old wants to see my 50 something body naked?
If you "look 35" but you have a "50 something body naked"... um, exactly what is it about you that looks 35 then?

About dancing... I enjoy it too! Yes, even in this chair.
So I just put on the music and dance to my heart's content!

Don't need a bar and crowds... just need the music and some space.... and I can have FUN.

Been hanging round these threads a while now,

Have to say - that if you were a 57 yr old man hanging round the bars, then you would have been a good old boy.

And too fricking right about men wanting to watch TV - what is it with them?

Maeflowers and Moonchild48, I'm with BOTH of you....a NICE DANCE CLUB FOR PEOPLE 40 and up......there could be 40-55 nights, and 56 and up nights...we could serve prune juice for that matter....it wouldn't be about smoking or drinking excessive amounts of alcohol....it would be about people who want to DANCE....to be physically active.......

Central PA people think they're dead when the last child graduates from high school (irregardless of whether or not the parent is 40 or 70....).....and it's a shame.....

Its a busy social scene, with a great atmosphere... so u don't have to go clubbing...there are more choices out there... and it really keeps one fit...

Well, I like to dance as well, but you have to hit to bar before 8:30 to get me involved. After that, I am on my way home to bed.

Perhaps what is needed is an afternoon place?

Ummm move over will ya Rear? Gotta give me some room for my walker dammit! lol
I never wanna succumb to the age issue and all that goes with it! As I said before, you shall find me sittin on the front porch o the nursing home, wine in one hand, my cane in the other, prodding all the young hottie male nursies! After that, and they put me back in my room, you will find me "visitin" the rooms of all the fair gents in my hall! I am NOT leaving this earth with the "geeze,I am old syndrome"!!!

I was dancing 'til the wee hours in a swinging downtown hot spot recently with a bunch from work. Its the young ones that could not be coaxed onto the floor.

One of the reasons I try to keep in shape is to be able to trip the light fantastic without risking heart failure. Of course, I get into it so much, I may be a little too wild on the dance floor even for you Mae..

I burned myself out at the bars when I was young. I believe I have enough partying in the bank to last a lifetime. Now, I enjoy other pursuits - reading good books, working with photography, cooking a great meal or having fun with my friends. I still like to drink beer & wine and have fun, just not at a bar. Plus DUI is such a brutal reality and is not something I can afford to happen to me.

Others have said it before me ,if you want a man that goes to bars for fun then go to bars - you will find what you are looking for. Nothing wrong with this, but the last man I want or need is a man who spends all his time & money at a bar (just for me)

guess I'm a prude? drunk men turn me off!! the smell of booze breath makes me want to vomit!! and drinking all your life Ages you anyway---wheres the fun in that? I go dancing at the sober clubs and have a Ball!! OK, I know that wasn't the topic---if a man cant keep up with me, I'd trade him in for a newer model--lol, just kidding--but Really ---I keep myself healthy, why would I want to date a guy who eats at fast food joints 24/7 and sits in front of the TV. so yeah, give me a fun guy ---just w/out the alcohol!

I am 57 myself, one of those late bloomers, divorced and single again...Yeah, its definitely both no fun and annoying at the same time. I do have some friends at my local deli, but I have been branching out into different activities as well, mainly creative things/activities. As for dating; so far, the over 50 and late forties men have been no shows, just friends or men I decided not to meet after all they talked about on the phone was sex. If I was interested in that, there are younger men who want casual sex. But like most of us here, I do want a long term relationship. So I just keep doing different things and look forward to the day I can get out of where I live, see more of the world, and meet new friends, too. And contrary to another post on another topic, I am not looking for a man to fund my traveling, unless he wants to buy my art work or my writing and/or tickets to my future indie films....
So that's my two cents worth, anyway....

God, please tell me over 50 can be fun I am still trying to get the hang of being over 40, and that has been no major picnic. But I have hope . I think age isn't the problem, it's how you meet and who you meet. I think there should be more non-bar places to meet singles, where dancing can be done, or just talking face to face, I remember those days, where you go to a public place, see one another, and risk asking the other person to join you for lunch or a cup of coffee, those were the good old days

kriashun, you're no prude....nothing wrong in wanting an alcohol-free man over 50.....and you are correct....excessive alcohol intake does age all of us, and for men, it can cause a lot more problems than just a few wrinkles......

I can't even find a nice guy in GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION over 50 to take me fishing (I fished with my grandfather as a youngster, and am looking into getting into it again)........and the ones who have offered....well, I don't want to go out on a boat with anyone that might need CPR any minute.....too much trauma....what if we can't get back to the shore in time?????
