| WHO do you dress for ? Posted: 2/29/2008 4:26:59 PM | | I dress for everyone, including me. I don't want to look like some hobo that just crawled out of the dumpster so I dress nice, the way I feel is nice. I don't dress how society has claimed girls my age need to dress, I do dress older for my age but I feel A. comfortable and B. good in these clothes so I'm not about to change any time soon. | |

Posted: 2/29/2008 4:29:34 PM | i dress for myself, why should i dress the way a man would want me to? it's this way, if he can't accept me for my choice of clothing then he wouldn't accept me. i don't dress me and wouldn't dare to either. i'm not going to get all dolled up and have make up on all of the time just to please any man.....i don't wake up in the morning looking that way and would hope that guys would appreciate me for me and not someone else.

| WHO do you dress for ? Posted: 2/29/2008 4:43:52 PM | So you are admitting that you like to be attractive and feel sexy. There is nothing wrong with that. That is only natural. Yes, I know it is. Thanks for validating it tho, not that I asked you to.
But you think men get some benefit by looking at you when you dress to feel sexy? What is this benefit? The only thing benefitting is your ego. No I don't - nor did I say they did, thanks for trying to twist my words tho (did you even read what I typed?) - but anyway, it seems that MEN must think they benefit. Why else would you think you had anything to do with our selection (which is AGAIN what I said in the first place)?
And I have little to no ego at all, you got the wrong chick on that one. Check yourself...

Men are physically attracted to fertile looking women because that is nature's way of ensuring the continuation of the species. Whether women realize or not, there's a instinctual reason why a woman wants to look good. It's to attract a man.
Just like men have an instinctual desire to be competitive, dominant and accumulate wealth and power. It is to attract a woman.
It's nature, it's proven and it's just obvious.

No point in posting further. The Man has spoken.
I will never figure out why there isn't a Forum named "TELL a Girl", since that is the goal of so many of the men that infiltrate the forum and bash our answers to questions we generally attempt to answer honestly and from experience here in "ASK a Girl".
Maybe it's because most of the respondents are not "girls" that these two men don't get it. As WOMEN get older we care less and less what other people think and realize that, ultimately, WE live in our skin and WE are the ones we need to worry about. What mattered when we were 19 and testing our sexual power doesn't make it high on the list of priorities 10-30 years later when we already KNOW what we're capable of.

ROFL! Are you aware of research out of Brandeis that indicates that attractive women are more likely to be sick? I'm also aware of the health and fertility-threatening measures women have been expected to take in order to be sexy and how that tendency crosses cultures and time periods. I'm also aware that adolescents are considered sexually attractive before they are able to safely bear children, a major contributing factor to the obstetric fistula problem in Africa. Even now, the culturally applauded female body type is neither the healthiest, nor the most fertile. Being as little as 10% under one's ideal weight can impair fertility, and the most applauded body type is well below that 10% for most women.
Fertility is secondary, even though it's often claimed as primary.
Also, women tend to dress according to their socioeconomic status and family culture. In some cases, they'll be trend followers, but odds are good that their mothers are, too, or their peers. This is what they feel comfortable in, and for women, comfortable is closely associated with sexy. Other women will feel comfortable while dressed preppy, which means they'll feel sexy when dressed preppys. They won't feel sexy in much else, no matter how men react. They're likely to feel exposed, uncomfortable and thus turned off.
It's nature, it's proven and it's just obvious.
On the contrary. You have yet to produce a shred of evidence.

This is the funniest thing I have read yet on this topic! Men are "physically attracted to FERTILE" looking women...................continuation of the specias." ROTFLMAO!!!! So basically you are assuming that we women want to look/dress attractive so we can attract a man and continue to procreate? Hmmmmm......:-/
If this has been "proven" please share where you acquired your "facts" that were "proven". Please please do share your sources!!!

Yeah, I agree - my point earlier was the same. Anyone who basically starts out a thread with "I already know what you're gonna say because you're all in denial, but...." shouldn't bother posting a thread. If you're honestly not sure about something and want to ask women about it, fine. But if you already think you know everything what's the point of the discussion?

LOL Sabrosura, my first response when I saw that was wondering how NOT to dress so that no one mistakes me as fertile when I have NO INTENTION of procreating. Hey, I'd hate to wear something that accidentally attracts men looking for the best place to drop seed. LMAO

| WHO do you dress for ? Posted: 3/1/2008 5:37:24 PM | I dress to feel good and for the occasion. I don't try to get attention by the way I dress. And I certainly don't rely on my clothing to "impress" someone. | |
|
| WHO do you dress for ? Posted: 3/1/2008 7:43:04 PM | I dress for myself....and comfort is a big part of that. I wish I could say I do it to "impress": but honestly, with my ADD, I'm just too oblivious to my surroundings most of the time to even NOTICE that anyone else has noticed what I wear.
When I was younger I put a lot of time and thought and effort into "looking" a certain way.. and yes, it was probably predicated on attracting a mate. I'm pretty sure it's biological... preening and such. Today I could give a crap.. really..I just don't care what others think of my or how I dress. My self-esteem does not come from outside anymore, becuase like I said I'm pretty oblivious to the attention of others, to the point where my daughter or a friend will have to point out that someone was looking at me (I have a pretty unique style for my age group). I know how to look professional though... and I will do so for work...
Maybe it's an age thing...I really don't know. I also don't judge others for how they dress unless they are obviously dirty.... that kind of bugs me. I couldn't imagine calling a another womans style of dress "whorish"... who the hell am I to make that judgement? It's her body...let her dress in any manner that she likes.
I do have a pet peeve... a prejudice against ball caps... I just hate them. Don't know why, I just do.

Now that I think about it, maybe I dress for myself so that I won't feel the embarrassment of public nudity. Yes, I definitely dress for myself. Except for right now because I am nude.

| WHO do you dress for ? Posted: 3/1/2008 9:22:52 PM | I do dress for myself, but if I am dating someone - I make an effort to look sexy for him as well. Its all part of the 'rituals' we do.
Now if you excuse me - I got to bang on my ceiling - my nympho neighbor has a couple of boys over lol...

mental note to self: buy many sand color clothes to ensure men understand that the factory is closed as is a barren desert ...
