I was engaged to a "Suave" Gentleman and they were the best 4 yrs of my life. Hearing his accent daily brought joy and smiles to me. It was cute too. He was very Suave....as he passed on....I sure miss him and his cute accent. His accent just filled the atmosphere around us!

| Accents...turn on or off? and other questions Posted: 3/26/2008 9:34:22 PM | I think some accents are attractive (I love british, scottish, irish, australian, french, ect). Only one problem, I'm partially deaf and usually have a hard time understanding what someone with a heavy accent says. Sometimes lipreading helps, but some times it doesn't. I know that if I'm around someone enough I learn to understand them better, but initially it can be hard. | |

I adore Depeche Mode as well. Although I must say my first love is The Cure. :)
Home...yes, I will choose that one for you to sing to me. Such a beautiful song!

| Accents...turn on or off? and other questions Posted: 3/28/2008 9:17:55 PM | My parents are from Southern Britain, just outside of London.
I have, therefore, a hybrid British/Canadian accent.
I don't notice it but my friends do and are rather unrelenting at times.
Blighters.

| Accents...turn on or off? and other questions Posted: 3/29/2008 5:21:38 PM | | I assure you I can tell when someone is Quebecois. While I would like to say that it does not affect me the truth is that it does. It is rather like meeting someone with blue hair. My first response is "um" but once I get to know someone I'm fine with it. The reason for this is because the first thing that pops into my head is memories of rather irritating politicians (not that the current PM is any better) and some rather nasty comments about English girls I had the misfortune to hear a few years ago. | |

| Accents...turn on or off? and other questions Posted: 3/31/2008 3:07:23 PM | Everyone has an accent, it's only noticable to people who don't have the same accent. I have a vaguely posh middle England accent which is odd because that's not where I'm from, and I live in Wales so to everyone here I have an English accent ( I don't open my mouth when the Rugby's on). I like the Southern Irish lilt, Geordie - but only if they have a deep voice, French - kind of goes without saying, and Italian.
The Welsh accent is quite nice - it's oddly colloquial though, you can tell which village someone's from - not just what country.
