| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 3:46:30 PM | The question is why did THAT woman frown on it? I don't see a thing wrong with a man that lives alone with his pet. I live alone with two dogs, and I surely love my life (and my babies!!!).
Just chalk it up to someone (the woman) who is clueless.
Best,

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 3:53:32 PM | what's his number? I'll give him a call right away
This is totally normal!! What if he lived with his parents? The 2 gals would still complain... somehow when people are negative and unhappy (may be didn't work out by the way), they always find something, anything to complain about
Come on, that shows that he's mature to care for himself and the dog, responsible... that's healthy, right? If not, then, I am doomed!! I'll be criticized as woman in her late 30's living alone with no dog

Some people are just idiots
I'll second that emotion OP, don't give those women a second thought Isn't a dog supposed to be "man's best friend?"
Now this story did remind me of a comedy movie made by Disney several years back called "The Kid", starring Bruce Willis as a 40 year old jerk who encounters himself as a 10 year old kid.The kid learns that Bruce Willis' character is who is he going to be at 40. After learning details about his life at 40, the kid says...."Let me get this straight. I'm 40, ...I'm not married...I don't have any kids....and I don't own a dog??!!!....I'm a LOSER!!!!

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 4:23:19 PM | | I can't even fathom what could have possibly elicited that comment...unless of course she was being ridiculously sarcastic.... Then it makes perfect sense because any man/woman who lives along with or without an animal companion is in fact someone i would want to asscociate with because they show they're completely independent and if they have an animal companion they're showing they can also take care of someone/thing. | |

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 4:33:20 PM | Nothing wrong with that at all. Lol I'll be a woman living alone with a dog in a few years when I get a house if I'm not with a man...I plan on getting my golden retriever puppy right after move in day lol. I don't think a man who is independant and can take care of himself is pathetic in anyway I think its sexy....a man who is looking for the right companion not just any companion....thats great in my opinion. Super sexy. | |

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 4:37:31 PM | I'll have you now I live alone with my dog (& my kid half the time) & I've managed to keep them both alive!
However...........
...... I do have a 1/2 acre of dirt instead of lawn etc.. While all those other saps are pushing mowers at weekends I'm out on the bike hauling ass in the canyons,. I think that's a fair trade off. :)
It's guys living alone with bloody cats that are somewhat suspect... ;)

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 4:49:16 PM | I would hope a man lived alone with a pet - I live alone with pets, so I would imagine I'm not the only one - so I don't get why this would be an issue.
The dog is a bonus, to be honest. I'd rather date a man with a dog than one without a dog.

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 4:54:35 PM | Poet321 - honey, you need a slap upside your head, for thinking these women were in their right mind. Just kidding BTW, I am not the violent type, I just wanted to get your attention.
Did you ever wonder why they were out with each other, single and not with a man? You are a smart guy, you do the math............lol.
I know women who appear to be just like them. Think about this, maybe the one, really liked the guy (who lives alone with his dog) and was rejected by him? Perhaps this is the only negative thing she can say about him. Kind of like a bully. I wouldnt pay it a second of concern or thought. This woman, clearly indicated by opening her mouth, that she in fact, was the "looser".
Any man that lives on his own, cares for children or pets, is definitely not a looser. What it shows is that you are independent, caring and concerned for more than your own needs. Just be glad that you are not dating a woman like that, and finding out you are being dissed behind your back the way she spoke about that other guy.
Consider that attitude to be like dog poop on the sidewalk, step over it - who wants to get involved in that?

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 5:05:49 PM | Dude........
What she was really saying was....."He's not into ME.....that makes him a LOSER".... You could be running a "no kill shelter" and your good qualities would never be noticed in favor of the fact that she's probably scared away every man who comes around her with that attitude.
The truth is.........the more that a man actually proves that he doesn't really NEED a woman in his life by being self sufficient.....the more a woman projects him being a loser for not WANTING her.......
Keep doing your laundry....keep cooking....keep being the domestic GOD you are. Isn't it odd that they did nothing but complain all those years when they said we DIDN'T do such things?? Only to complain now that we do??? hmmmmmmmmmm......... Here...this one's on me...

If it didn't apply to you personally, no need to be offended. If you were offended, then obviously you have a guilty conscious :)

Oh, you mean the same as men who have always proclaimed that women could never be equal and now that women are they are STILL not happy with women as a whole? Touche', and have a beer from me. lol

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 5:15:00 PM | EEh its late here OP. so forgive me if i'm being stupid here,.. The lady in the bar says shes thinks a man who lives alone with his dog is a loser? Ermm.. well following that womans carazed logic,.. does she want to date a married man who lives with his wife,.. and a cat? It pains me to say it, but 'stupid' is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against gender. She sounds as if she is a model employeee. I think you maybe heard a stupid vacuous comment from an airheaded woman and because you're feeling a bit unsure of your self and where your life is going,.. you made the mistake of thinking about this comment for more than a nanosecond. There is nothing wrong with anyone, male or female living alone.. with dogs, cats, reptiles,.. or any other type of pet. Its not 'the law' to be married, divorced with a couple of kids and a mortgage you cant pay by the time you're 30. in fact, its quite desirable that none of these thimngs have happened to you actually. So, rest assured OP,.. living alone with a doggie is perfectly fine. Miss Eyre. | |

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 5:29:35 PM | A guy sits in Applebee's and starts listening in to someone's conversation. He reports back what he overheard-- which seems to amount to a sentence or two. And look at the judgmental, dismissive, and downright rude responses:
Yeah, I've dated a lot of chicks I met at Applebees and they're all pretty lousy but good for a roll in the hay.
some people are just shallow and petty and judgemental. That's THEIR problem, not yours.
some ditzzie woman who is extremely judgemental imo and whom you`d never wanna try ta have a relationship with
Some people are just idiots,
For the girls at Applebee's making such judgements shows that they are just superficial, judgmental bimbos
seems many women dont want an independant man.
those woman you overheard are idiots. They don't like men period. It doesn't matter what a man does because those types will turn it into a negative. Did I mention they were idiots?
Just chalk it up to someone (the woman) who is clueless.

Makes me wonder who's really "shallow and petty and judgmental" after all. (And how few can spell the word judgmental LOL)

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 6:29:35 PM | | I can't say for sure wtf that woman was talking about...but in my opinion there is nothing wrong with a guy living on his own/with a dog. In fact its a great thing! I would presume that he is responsible enough to look after himself and a pet. If a guy lived with his parents, a bunch of buddies, or another woman....then I'd be concerned. If he didn't like pets I'd be concerned. If he WAS a dog instead of HAD a dog-I'd be concerned. Maybe this woman has a fear of dogs?! | |

| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 6:59:09 PM | | They were just having GIRL TALK, and being ****ES, and royal pains in the asses! Take them for what they are.... stupid, immature, and lacking experience with life! How old were these cuties? In their early 20's? | |
|
| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 7:01:19 PM | I guarantee you most women do NOT feel that way. We are happy when men live alone..avoiding the parent trap, the room mate nightmares as well as the "friend" thing. Perhaps he was living in his car with his dog...who knows... ..if that is the case, poor dog. | |
|
| single men in their 30s living alone with a dog Posted: 3/1/2008 7:08:14 PM | I would be thinking this is a smart man who has his act together. Besides what kind of dog? A neurotic little scrappy thing or a real dog? Personally any man that can care for a pet or a plant has plusses in my book. A man that can look after himself, even more plusses. A man who realises what a sham, hooking up with anything out of desperation - way more plusses. Gosh he can probably cook as well, and you would turn one like that away - no, not that my own cooking scares me that much, but you know.....real food IS better... So where is the gem? How many visitors would he like? Can all of us come to play with his dog? | |

If these GIRLS base their opinion on the fact that some guy takes care of a dog, they should warrant no more attention from the mature adult, period. WOMEN, in my experience, base their opinions on much more than that... If they were speaking about some guy and perhaps his many faults that would make him a loser, fine. But to even bring into the discussion the fact that he is a loser, as according to OP they did, because he has a dog, no matter how you cut it.. not worth an adults time.
