So its the dog or the woman, thats a tough one :) If a woman seriously wants
a relationship with kids some day, a dog can't be any big deal.

My fish died, maybe I should try getting a dog. Do you have to feed them everyday?

It's the men in their 30s still with mom that's frightening and a big red flag.

I know a wonderful single man who is in his 30's who still lives at home with his mother. He is, however, her caretaker and provider for her since she is disabled. That to me proves responsibility and respect for others over setting up a red flag. I am sure that there are situations for everything, but before judging the person over situations, perhaps getting to know the situation itself makes a difference.

Cat, dog, kids or even living with parents, if you are wanting to be with that person, then learn about the person as a whole, with the different attachments. If you judge prior to reading the whole book, because of the cover of it, you may miss out on the juicy parts on the inside.

a dog can live for 14 or 16 years or even more,I know from the start that my love for the dog will last that long and that I will be sad and feel empty when she or he is gone.I didn't yet meet a man that I wasnt happy and pleased about to get rid of in that period of time,so I think it is charming if he got a dog and wouldnt try to change his way of living just to please my own ego even if I don't think that way but seems to me like if many women and for the equal sake men do.

Not only that, Dame Whimsical, but they are probably IDIOTS! besides.
There are a lot of good replies here, but I think you have said it best. There are many women it seems that will take *anything* and turn it negative ..... then complain loudly that they have no life. To them, I say "have some cheese with your whine".

I am a single man in my mid 40's, I live alone WITH MY DOG. I have had my best friend for almost 2yrs now.
If a woman dont like my dog or the fact that I am independent she can take a walk!

People can be incredibly weird and ignorant....especially if THEY don't like animals....I have people in my family (college educated, no less!) that believe single people who live with pets (dogs, especially), are SCREWING their animals........

Find yourself a great woman who loves animals, and be HAPPY!

Why Keep a Dog Instead of a Woman (humor)

Dogs don't cry.
Dogs love it when your friends come over.
Dogs don't care if you use their shampoo.
Dogs think you sing great.
A dog's time in the bathroom is confined to a quick drink.
Dogs don't expect you to call when you are running late.
The later you are, the more excited dogs are to see you.
Dogs will forgive you for playing with other dogs.
Dogs don't notice if you call them by another dog's name.
Dogs are excited by rough play.
Dogs don't mind if you give their offspring away.
Dogs love red meat.
Dogs can appreciate excessive body hair.
Anyone can get a good-looking dog.
If a dog is gorgeous, other dogs don't hate it.
Dogs don't shop.
Dogs like it when you leave lots of things on the floor.
A dog's disposition stays the same all month long.
Dogs never need to examine the relationship.
A dog's parents never visit.
Dogs love long car trips.
Dogs understand that instincts are better than asking for directions.
Dogs understand that all animals smaller than dogs were made to be
hunted.
Dogs like beer.
Dogs don't hate their bodies.
No dog ever bought a Kenny G or Hootie & the Blowfish album.
No dog ever put on 100 pounds after reaching adulthood.
Dogs never criticize.
Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice to get your point across.
Dogs never expect gifts.
It's legal to keep a dog chained up at your house.
Dogs don't want to know about every other dog you ever had.
Dogs like to do their snooping outside, as opposed to in your wallet or
desk.
Dogs don't let magazine articles guide their lives.
Dogs would rather have you buy them a hamburger dinner than a lobster
one.
You never have to wait for a dog. They're ready to go 24 hours a day.
Dogs have no use for flowers, cards, or jewelry.
Dogs don't borrow your shirts.
Dogs never want foot-rubs.
Dogs enjoy heavy petting in public.
Dogs find you amusing when you're drunk.
Dogs can't talk.
Dogs aren't catty.
Dogs seldom outlive you.

You should have remarked out loud enough for them to hear: "Yeah, I've dated a lot of chicks I met at Applebees and they're all pretty lousy but good for a roll in the hay."

Then turn to the women and say, "oh hey ladies, how's it going?"
OMFG ID OF DIED LAUGHING IF I HEARD THAT AT APPLEBEES! I dont think it is loserish for a guy to live single with a dog.... In their eyes they may prefer to be living free of a "ball and chain" and just enjoy the unconditional love a dog has to offer. hahaha Id be prefectly contempt with a 900-1200 sqft house with two bedrooms, some bean bag furniture, my xbox, a German Shepherd, and a ****n 1971 Chevelle SS to work on and kill time. Being as Im going to become a cop that maybe all Im able to afford haha. Livin life to its fullest, enjoyin it to its fullest. Nothin wrong with the single life... Just in my case it gets kinda old bein lonely, but at the same time you get used to it....

I'm single...in my mid forties...and live with my two cats...

What's the big wrong with that?

Better that than being married to some whacko who's in your face all the time...reminding you how you don't ever "make the grade"...

I can't believe there's 6 pages posted on some weird woman (or two weird women) in a restaurant.

I second the poster who said he'd bet that the guy she was whining about liked his dog more than he liked her....as well he should have.

Single hot guys in their 30s who live alone with a dog are a catch! Pffft.

Sometimes, both men and women use the term "Loser" after they've been rejected. As a result, the hurt individual has to put down the one that hurt or rejected them to save face.

That woman's comments are just as dumb as some men saying "No wonder she lives alone with her cats. No man will have her!" They're just words!

So totally agree, Ninth Inning. I am a woman [ albeit an older one ] who lives alone
in the country with her dog. If someone thinks I'm weird, due to these living
conditions, then they don't need to be around me and my dog, anyway..lol..
A man in his 30's or older living with his parent/parents [ unless he's taking care of
them -- and who knows if that would be the truth ] seems to be a tad too dysfunctional
to my liking.

Anyone who is single and living alone with a dog...male or female...need help. The dog become feed the hunger of aloneness and hence they are not motivated enough for a real relationship.

I would love to date someone who lives alone with a dog. I love dogs and it shows that they are independant, mature individuals.

Just because some one lives alone dont mean anything i know people who live in 2 differnt places and have a good relation ship
