I, like you, would be interested in his view on men...especially since he is athletic and has the pics to prove it ~ unless he is good at doctoring pics & in that case, Dave...can we talk...lol

You are right...I don't want to move anywhere anytime soon. I moved to Florida a little over 4 years ago & I know my friends will laugh when I type this but....I'm STILL adjusting and can't see moving again ~ unless of course it's back to Jersey!!

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/5/2008 4:32:25 PM | Allow me to address a few things I read here. It seem some come up with excuses to be overweight and out of shape, citing not everyone can go to the gym every day. Appearance has something to do with it. Aside from that if people do not make a serious effort to eat healthy and push themselves to get up off the couch to make some effort to exercise, they are likely to experience self inflicted health problems later in life that ends up costing us all one way or another. There is no excuse for being out of shape except laziness. Smokers smoke, and when they go to the hospital and cannot pay all their bills, it is the rest of us that get stuck paying through various taxes and insurance costs. People who chose to live a lifestyle of laziness and being overweight will likely develop health problems as they age, and their problems become all of our problems. So from that perspective I do not buy other's excuses to be lazy and not make serious efforts to live a healthy lifestyle.
I think both men and women lie on their profiles, and use misleading pictures. I am not sure one can tell which side is worse. They are probably equal. But it is very true, overweight men will expect women to be in shape, and think less of them if they are not, while not thinking the same way about other overweight men. So there is that double standard for sure. There is probably an equal number of 50 year old overweight women posting 8 year old pictures from when they were 40 pounds lighter to the 50 year old men who have beer bellies and say they are 42 in their profile.
My point, if the pictures are not clear and do not show the entire person from head to toe, ask for more pictures, and ask if their pictures are in fact recent before going to meet them or else you risk waisting a lot of time.

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/5/2008 8:12:35 PM | I've been told all my life, as all of us females have, just how fragile the male ego is. Apparently we women aren't supposed to have one or are we supposed to be the stronger sex and not mind if they bust our egos? My take on this is that men have been coddled all their lives by their mothers, etc., into thinking that no matter what - they looked goood. And so they are programmed.
Back to subject: Can we talk about men's body types now? Good. OBESE, FAT, BEER GUT, A FEW POUNDS OVER, AVERAGE, SLIM, BAG OF BONES. Now tell me which one does not fit a woman too? They're all out there. We just haven't gotten around to bashing males the way they've given themselves license to do to women all our lives. I won't take part in bashing but sitting here writing this, a size 4, I've been told I could lose a few more pounds by - you guessed it - a male! Oh but wait: this male used to be 350 pounds before his gastric bypass and he's now 180 +/-.
HEALTHY would be my pick. That's what really counts anyway, isn't it?

I've been told I could lose a few more pounds by - you guessed it - a male! Oh but wait: this male used to be 350 pounds before his gastric bypass and he's now 180 +/-. This man needed a lobotomy not a gastric bypass.....A size 4 only needs to lose weight if she's 3'10"...lol.....Back to the subject. I'm a large man, "a few extra pounds" 5'10" 245lbs. I have no flab on my body but I do have a "belly" but then so did my elder male family members I resemble. (genetics) I exercise, eat healthy, ride my bicycle, kayak many miles twice or more every weekend and I'm not out of shape. My point is that everyone that's "large" isn't out of shape, a couch potatoe, eating at McDonalds or living a self destructive lifestyle. My grandfather, whom I resemble, lived to be well into his upper eighties, with the "belly"...lol....Mine might stick out a little but there's no "overhang" and I can still see the willy.....LOL.....

I'm sure glad that this guy is an expert on this subject. So, in his words, if you are out of shape, you are "lazy". Try telling that to somebody that has a physical condition that prevents them from the needed (as you state) exercise. I was a NCAA game official (football and baseball) for years. Smoked for years and still do. I pay for my own bills and you don't pay my bills. This is a free country and free for people to do as they wish and not what you want them to do or expect them to do. I'd suggest that you do some research before posting again and stating things that are not all fact, but, something that you preceive.
It's true that people lie here. We all have an opinion of what we are. We think we're all the best thing that ever happened (in your case, it seems that there is no equal). I agree that people should put a recent picture. Mine was getting old, so, the one now posted is only 2 weeks old. At my age, I can post a full body shot, but, who cares. I'm getting older and not gonna try to keep up with the younger guys in body just to impress somebody. I don't need to impress by pumping up, etc. I'm me. Take me for me and nothing else.
BTW, the doc says that I'm in great shape. See, I pay for all my medical through planning over the years. You are forgetting that even the people who work out everyday can eventually contact a dreadful desease or disorder that will effect them and nobody knows when that will happen. Live life good and never cut down people for who are what they are. There might be a medical condition that effects them and you posting what you posted only adds insult to their already existing problems. Be nice to all.
But, never lie. That, we can agree on.

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/6/2008 9:01:27 PM | I find it amusing when I see people "fudge" the statistics on their profiles, no matter if it is weight, height, age or status. I agree with most that the lying is really the turn off for me not the real "looks", age or height.
It's great that there are people that are vigilant about keeping their bodies in shape, it's just too bad there isn’t a work out regimen for a "fat" head.

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/7/2008 4:13:37 AM | I saw a movie the other day about a teenager who drank after a day of sports, was tired driving home from a party and crashed into a tree. He suffered brain damage so bad he needed to relearn his entire memory, how to eat, how to walk etc. But he eventually did it, although still somewhat slow in the head. I do not buy the argument that medical problems can hold a person back from enjoying a healthy lifestyle. And I tend to believe the numbers of people who medically just cannot do anything to improve their health are so small, they ought not even be considered a factor in such a discussion. Yes, it is a free country, and with freedom comes many imbalances. I used to smoke, and I have nothing against you personally. But you defend your right to smoke. If you could turn back the clock and start life over, would you still chose to smoke knowing what you know? Probably not. I cannot imagine anyone being given a chance to start life over actually choosing to smoke that second time around. Although you pay your bills, smoking and/or an unhealthy diet causes huge increases in self inflicted health problems as people reach 50 and beyond. The side effect are higher insurance costs for everyone, and there is no way insurance covers all of a hospital's cost for major illness so they are stuck writing off the losses, which ends up costing all of us one way or another. It's my opinion, but rather than defend your right to smoke, you ought to be angry with the tobacco companies for doing what they did to get you hooked on it in the first place.
The truth is all people should strive to live a healthy lifestyle or at least support the idea, rather then defend their right to live an unhealthy lifestyle that spreads beyond them and negatively affects others.
In regards to the topic of this thread, here is a unique way to view this. In nature the biggest strongest male wins the female. The Robin with the brightest red breast wins the girl. In mankind men who are not genetically endowed can supplment their lack of physical stature by being wealthy and powerful. Women have been conditioned over thousands of years to add material value when choosing men, as another layer above physical value. So a short and out of shape 55 year old businessman can still attract a hot 35 year old girl, if the guy has money. So the perception in some cases is the guy does not need to be in shape, if he has something else to offer. And we all know there are plenty of women out there who will choose to be with a guy for his money and stature in life, even if she is not all that attracted to him. Yup, out of shape guys will not look at each other with negative thoughts, but many of them will think less than positive about out of shape women. So there is for sure the double standard.

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/7/2008 1:06:42 PM | I just hope I go out of this world from my semi unhealthy lifestyle before I have to spend an extra 10 yrs in a nursing home with someone wiping my a$$ because I lived that completely healthy lifestyle that's not a burden on society and my body giving out before my mind. I'm going out having done and doing what I consider fun and makes me happy, even if it's not healthy. Healthy people drop over dead too. And if my mind goes first, so freakin' what, I won't know anyway..

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/7/2008 5:15:50 PM | | I would really like to respond to Dave. All of the pictures in my profile are very recent and yes, I am somewhat overweight. I also have in my profile, "a few extra pounds". I consider myself very attractive, especially for my age. Prior to meeting a man, during the "telephone phase" I always like to point out that I am 54 years old, have had 2 children, several surgeries, (although I am not sickly), and have spent 27 years taking care of a now exhusband and family. I've worked full time, was a bigger "bread winner" than the ex, made all of the financial decisions,(because I had to), bought and sold houses, etc. In short, I ran my big butt off! Anyway, I was just reading a profile and much to my surprise the profile said: he wanted a woman who was physically and mentally in good shape, so no overweights, druggies or alcoholics!!! Now, we ladies who are not perfecto are being put in a category with druggies and alcoholics!!! OMG!! My ex, for being 63 is in pretty good shape too. Of course, he had someone taking care of him all those years! Most men do! | |

I was only responding to his post and saying that I am very open and honest about my appearence! Men like different things, as do women and I doubt there are many women who who do that just to get them to meet them! Believe me, I don't have a problem with how I think I look, but I am honest with myself and others. Although I am not thin, I think, and so do many men, that I am sexy as hell! HAHA! The newest thing that I've read aboutnow is NO GRANNY PANTIES!!! LOL!! Well, all I can say is, BOXERS BEWARE!! LOL!!

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/8/2008 1:01:16 PM | tootee...I cracked up at your last line....BOXERS BEWARE!!
You are right about men & women liking different things. How boring would this world be if we all looked the same????
Like you I am very honest about what I look like...not what I think I look like. I am most definately a BBW & have never had any problem getting dates ~ I just haven't found the right person for me YET !!
Dave seems to have found a few ummmm "enemies" with this thread . I still think he's missing the point but, like us, he has a right to type what he wants.

I can't imagine ANYONE, male or female, told you to lose a few pounds!! Lordy knows what he would say to me...as if it would matter anyway
This thread wasn't intended to bash men...it was what women think about men & their body types. Like you've stated...for years men have told us what they think (even if we haven't asked!!!) & I decided to turn the tables. Nothing wrong with a little t*t for tat.

How damn funny but true.
I now need to ponder something...do I live the life I love & enjoy every minute of it or do I head to the gym, eat vegies till I vomit and refrain from ever eating chocolate again...( and folks please don't bore me w/the bs about in moderation ~ obviously my moderation is different from yours!! ). I never thought about the nursing home issue but you are right...they are all skinny & losing their minds ~ that's exactly how I want to live my last few years ~~~~ NOT!!
Ok, that was easy & didn't take any time at all...I'm gonna continue doing what I do !!
Thanks littlephishy!!

| Let's hear what the ladies have to say regarding men's body types Posted: 3/9/2008 7:08:49 PM | | I am very athletic, but my body type isn't. Even after I lose the 40lbs that I am about to lose my body type still won't be athletic. It won't be average either. I can't choose Big & Tall/BBW because I'm not tall at all. So, I just prefer not to say what my body type is because nothing would be accurate. People at my job say that I don't look like I weigh as much as I do. Several people say that I am muscular and that I have a body builder body. I look in the mirror everyday and I don't see a body builder body. Yes, I have a well defined biceps, triceps, pecks, and traps, but that doesn't make you muscular. I think that the accurate body type for me would be slightly overweight/toned. | |
