Here we go again. I hate to break it to you, but almost ALL professional athletes - in ALL sports - take steroids. Take a moment to cry if you like. This does not mean, however, that those athletes have no skill. Roids or no roids, any one of them could kick YOUR sorry a$$.

Actually, if you go back over the past few years and look at the fight results, the fighters who tested positive for steroids were almost always the ones who lost. Steroids help fighters to train harder and longer (especially if they have injuries); but there is little evidence that steroids give fighters any real advantage in the actual fights. Guys like Ken Shamrock, "Big Foot" Silva, and Randleman are not at the top of the food chain right now. It's doubtful you'll see the big names like Anderson, GSP, or Fedor test positive for steroids.
Far from being a flash in the pan, MMA is on its way to being one of the biggest sports in the world within the next 10 years. | |

Yep. I've heard nothing but good things about Anderson as far as how he deals with fans. He's great at seminars, signing autographs, etc. But then again, most of the truly great names in the sport are like that. | |

First of all. Any martial artist properly trained doesnt advertise it by calling himsel KENPO BOY. You want the whole world to know you are into martial arts. The first thing I learned in training was dont advertise and dont brag. So the sense I get is that you are wanting us all to know how dangerous you are and we better watch out!
Second, you rage at anyone who disagrees with you. Thats no self control. I simply made a statement that MMA is a primitive, dumb sport. I live in Ontario where its banned and I support that. I dont think 2 men lying in a homoerotic embrace beating the crap out of each other embraces the true spirit of budo.
Heres the problem. Instead of respectfully disagreeing with my post, you say that these guys could beat me up. By proxy, I am sure you think YOU could beat me up. And beat up anyone on this site! Martial arts isnt about beating people up. Its about finding out who you are.
So this is my problem with you. You want us all to behold your great warrior ideas, while acting out online.
You, my young man, need to learn some manners. And stop trying to impress us with what a great fighter you are. First, learn to control your emotions. Then we might listen. | |

I simply made a statement that MMA is a primitive, dumb sport.
Here's where I jump into the argument. Not taking sides at all; but why post on an MMA thread focused on a specific fighter if one hates the entire sport? Someone could probably start another thread about how great or how stupid MMA is; but this thread is about the P4P best in the world in MMA and Anderson Silva's place on that list.
We'd like to know how others think the best fighters stack up, regardless of how you feel about the sport itself. | |

FWIW, maybe 5% of the people on this or any other site know what kenpo is, so I feel safe with my screen-name, thanks. It is a joke, in any case. And I have said nothing about my fighting abilities.

I disagree with uninformed people trying to speak authoritatively on subjects that they don't understand. Martial arts training is often ugly and sloppy, which is what happens when there is real contact. And who are you to say that budo has anything to do with martial arts? Legions of kung-fu people (for just one example) will disagree with you.

Posted: 4/15/2009 6:35:10 PM | For Leites to beat Silva this weekend,all he has to do is take Silva down,pass his guard and then DO SOMETHING WITH IT.Lots of fighters have been able to take Silva down and pass his guard with ease........and then they sit there and go,"well crap,what do I do now?"Dan Henderson passed Silva's guard with relative ease,went right to side control,and for around two minutes did nothing but land the occasional hammerfist here and there.Silva has never had a good defensive guard,and when guy's pass it,he just lays there like a limp noodle.If Leites passes it,and goes for something,he has a good shot at submitting Silva.
But most likely he'll act like everyone else who get's Silva down,and he'll end right back up on the feet again in the next round and get smashed.

So? Fedor also doesn't cut down two weight classes to fight easier competition.

Also Fedor has fought quite of a few of tomato cans. I'm not saying Anderson Silva is unbeatable because he's very beatable but he's light years ahead of Mr One Fight A Year. | |
