topnotch~

you are absolutely right. it is the "what if's" that always come to mind. they seem to spring up from out of nowhere, and there seems to be any rhyme or reason as to why.

for me, because i ended my "relationship" so recently, i suppose there are just little things that remind me of him. other times, i feel really angry. i will admit that there are other times where i think, "man... we never had the chance to do X"...or i think, "what if i had said X...instead of Y." but the thing is, if those arbitrary things could over ride someone's feelings for ya, then the attachment wasn't all that deep. i know from my situation that it was not. well, on his side anyway... lol!

but in the end i know i made the right decision. he was not a good person for me.. in spite of all the "what if's"...you can't carry on a one sided conversation and you certainly cant carry on a one sided relationship...

The trouble with internet dating is women aim the sights far too high and just continue to be alone waiting for Mr Perfect.

I have to admit to being similar myself. I refuse quite a few dates coz I dont fancy them or dont like them.

So until my Pamela Anderson comes along I will be alone...........

Neh. I still think about m'ex wife from time to time. After you've shared every moment.....every breath with someone for a time, I think it's the norm to at least think about how they ended up every once in awhile.

I still think about my ex.

I dont inttentially do it, he just kind of slips into my mind. There were some things that reminds me of him, like certain songs. At first I thought it was wrong, that I shouldnt. But after a while I accepted that he was an important part of my life, and that he would always have a place in my heart.

I think about my wife since she passed of cancer all the time. Every woman I know is aware of her and the love I will always have toward her as long as life is in me. Every one of them understands and accepts without it threatening them.
I don't think it's possible to not remember a person who shared a significant place in our life. Even if it all turned out horrible eventually there were still great times to remember, and lessons to be gleaned from the bad.

Even though my ex owes me money, I am friends with him. As a matter of fact, I was bored last Saturday night, called him up and asked what he was doing. He said that he and his girlfriend were going to get a bite to eat. I stated that there was a band playing at this bar I like and if they'd want to get something to eat there and then listen to the band. Yup. They met me there and the three of us had a good time. Life is so much better when you cast aside bitterness and hostility.

In answer to your question - no! And you'll never find what you want until you have the same response.

When you leave behind an intimate relationship, it is impossible to leave all of it behind. It is like a car accident each leaves a dent and some paint on each other. The realization that you are not together and it is time to drive on makes a successful go of the next car accident.

OK that was a bad description. Yes, I do think of my exes but I don't long for them. They helped shape my life and who I am. The next is going to be a fresh slate as it should be. Not paying the price for previous peoples mistakes. Mine included.

Do you still think about your ex?

Umm...only when he rings me every year to say Happy Anniversary (ex wedding he remembers I never do)...or Happy Birthday...or Merry Christmas...or Happy Mother's Day...or every week when he says...Hi, guess what just happened or Hi, its me...ya know *such and such* blah blah blah...
...outside of that...nup...dont think much about him at all.
Thats a relationship that ran its course...he's a wonderful man...an excellent father...I value his opinion... but thats it.

I think we tend to think of an X that has good qualities like that (even though the bad are there too) until we find someone that we feel similarly about, that really has a snowball's chance in hell of something permanent. On the upside, at least you recognize that the X you think about is not a viable option. Maybe in a way this is how we give ourselves hope, to think of the good qualities in an X and hope to find someone that has those without the dealbreakers.

wow..this question hits home cause Im going through it now. My ex broke my heart back in 2003 and for 2 yrs maybe more I was so depressed I could barely get out of bed, didnt want to dress or fix my hair I just hit a Low. If it wasnt for my friends who sometimes stayed with me, or brought me out of the house, whether to a comedy movie or just to get a drink I might still be under the bed. My ex now is remarried, and sometimes maybe once or twice a month calls or texts me. there was a time I jumped at his call or I'd ck the phone every 10 to 15 min hoping he'd text. there was a big part of me hoping that one day he'd "see the light" and realized that I truly loved him for him, flaws, farts and all! LOL but I just got tired of being let down..tired of his head games when he still calls and I have put myself on a Ex-Detox. ..just no longer allowing myself to text or take his call. He's supposed to be a newlywed and calling me? No..cant have it. so Im slowly but surely getting stronger . Pray for me and my continued strength ya'll...as I will do the same for everyone else!

Well, honestly I can say sigh. Long time no talkie to my ex is a good thing. he has a death grip on my heart and always will. I am independant of him, I am alone. but apart from him. So maybe I could have stayed with him or gone back but the fear of him has kept me away. And fear is a part of me still. False witness is a sin- so why lie.

Missmealways, "I feel for folks, when they are lonely after loosing a relationship"...We've surely all been there...The best thing that ever happened to me, was the day I decided to end my marriage with my ex...I loved her but she was a true evil demon from hell..Learning to be alone isnt so bad, great friends, hobbies, work and children have kept me on coarse..My patience for the delusional, arrogant and self seeking fools is non existent...Hang in there..I wish you luck, be patient...
