saramana, I have been reading this thread and several others of yours. I am sorry that your experience in the beautiful state of Tennessee was so unpleasant and I really do not think that the good folks there wish for you to put yourself through it again by going back there to live. I now live in Oklahoma and you probably would not enjoy it either so please don't move here. Nearly my entire family lives in Florida in the Gainsville and Ocala area. Please try to avoid those areas also. You will be unhappy anywhere you go because that is the type person that you are and you intend to see that others are as miserable as you are.

I lived for nearly 8 years near Memphis in Bartlett and I loved it . The people were very nice to me and my family. There are some very good people in the entire state. I am very proud of my southern heritage and we take a lot for granted. I lived for nearly 20 years in a large city where the people were more standoffish and stayed to themselves. I returned back home to live closer to my kids and grandkids and I really noticed how people that you didn't even know would smile when they met you walking down a street and greet you and make a comment like "How are you doing?" or comment on the weather. And teenage boys would hold a door open for you and smile and speak to you. And young people would address adults by "mame" or "sir". (We are taught that in the South and it is not insulting.) There is no place better, IMO.

Well southeastern Okla is pretty much like the deep south, and My sons think that here is the "center of the universe" so this is where God has me planted for now.

Just thinking--I am so backward--being in E Tn and all--for dinner I cooked wild rice pilaf, Spinach Marie and a steak and a bottle of well aged wine from the cellar. Not bad for a country girl. Darn, my ex misses my cooking............

Ok, has been a while since I have posted since I have been working all week, and looks like I have really missed out everything that has been going on in here. Since I am leaving tomorrow for Louisiana for my vacation I thought I would leave a few of my responses. I hope ya'll don't mind. Didn't think ya would!

Dixie, hon, we need more people like you back in Tennessee, well, basically like you anywhere in the world as you seem to be diverse in your intellect. Whooo, that sounded real fancy didn't it? LOL Seriously, glad that you are missing Tennessee, maybe that means you will come back for a visit soon. I hope that life is treating you well out there in Oklahoma, and if it isn't, well, you are welcome back to Tennessee anytime!

As far as some other comments...................I won't mention any names..........ACHOOO!!!!!!!!!! Bless me, I think I am allergic to all his BS!

South'n Boy, OTD, Starline, CW.........I hope that life is treating you all terrifically as it should since ya'll are the absolute best!! I will miss each one of you while I am gone, but I hope to find wireless occassionally so I can catch up. If not, then I will chat with ya when I get back around the 20th.

Hugs to you true Tennesseeans (that includes you Dixie), , and to those that never could make the grade here, well better luck anywhere else!!!!

Stay safe and miss ya'll already,

Well, I'm from Tennessee, Knoxville to be exact, in tracing family history, all my family are from east TN, I'll not live in another state, I love the Smokey Mountains, so I hope to live closer one day. Some of my family are really country, talking raise your own crops, cattle and pigs country, some get together like hog boiling time would resemble a family reunion.
Fixing to load up some stuff and head to Seymour to spend time with family, head to Grainger County to see some distant cousins, then head to the mountains for a time out. Florida is a nice place to visit, going to the beach there is all the interest it has for me, sorry but I prefer living here.

Down there in Florida I think most of the folks work-it out in the water. Don't they?

You know.. Swimming pool aerobics?

That might be a good place for you to meet some chicks, and mend that aching heart of yours. The one you brought with you from Memphis!

Just have to get past the blue hair is all.

YeeeHaww!

Yeah, I understand..

That's what the severely emotionally damaged by love-gone-bad always say. The ones who run away into the shadows, instead of standing up, being a man, and facing the music. It's tough!

"Who me?? An aching heart?? Not likely! I'm made of steel! HA!! Sure.. Sure..

Keep in mind though, I'm sure you gave her a LOT of good reasons to kick you to the curb.. I mean, just have a look at yourself in the mirror one day, and see if you wouldn't do the very same thing.

Smart gal, the one in Tennessee! She knows how to recognize big red flags, and has the guts to act on it! She actually did you a favor by giving you the big boot. You should thank her!

Maybe you could rent a place down on Lonesome Street, where the broken-hearts go. At least you'd find some company there, and you wouldn't be stuck by yourself, drowning your sorrows in cheap cut-rate beer every day.

We understand though, how pitiful life must be for you.. Strange place. No money.. No friends. Feeling abandoned by love. No one to talk to. But we're betting on you to eventually pull yourself back up by your bootstraps and get on with life.. Eventually..

Come on people... This moron is nothing but a troll with an IQ equal to his shoe size.

Seriously, just look at the way he responds and the contempt his comments... Does it sound like a educated professional man ? Not hardly.
He's a banker, a lawyer, owns several houses around the country... yet he speaks at a 10th grade level and has the attitude of a adolescent. He's not had one positive thing to say throughout the whole thread.... Probably some snot nosed kid that sneaks on mommy's computer when she is out doin the town.

I suggest that we show him the door and ignore his lame remarks... I myself refuse to lower myself to his level....

...........In case you did not know it, to post in another state's thread is called road tripping and can get you banned.

If you don't like TN and you moved away, why do you still have to malign the state?
What you showed us when you headed south, is what you are showing us now..........

Well put OTD. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. I have traveled the country and have relatives in the Sarasota area but Tennessee is home (sorry my family may have to deal with this bitter fool at some point). Home is where your heart is and I am glad this jerk doesn't live in Tennessee any longer. Sounds to me like a bad-mouthing fool like that can't be happy anywhere?

Happiness is a choice. I choose to be happy and separate myself from people and places that make me unhappy. Tennessee would be awfully crowded if this is what made everybody happy. Maybe the poster needs to move to Montana or the Dakota's where there is not much of anybody to ***ch about?

I think it is time we ALL ignore the ignoramous who obviously has NO idea what it means to be a Tennessean - either born and raised or transplanted. We just took his bait and only temporarily dropped to his level. Now it is time to cut him loose and ignore all the asinine comments.

Some crops just never grow in certain soils and I am thankful to God that this jerk didn't take root here!!!

We are here to say "WELCOME TO TENNESSEE"

All the talk of Maryville reminds me. There is a free concert at Smokey Mountain H-D on July 5th (tomorrow night). They have lots of great shows every Saturday night and lots of them are free. I love to go for the music and to check out the bikes. We have a lot of talent here. Musically and mechanically!

You all don't think he deserves even a little of our pity?

Having had his poor heart ripped from his chest by an obviously rather astute Tennessee woman, and having it stomped on and kicked, and rolled over by a steam-roller? That can be pretty rough on a body you know.. Then there's no monay, no job, and no prospects for the future.. It all looks pretty dismal.

What if he wasn't always the jerk we see today? Are we sure we're not being just a little harsh on the guy?

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and if ya'll just made it to Tennessee, sorry I couldn't be there in body to Welcome you, but I am there in SPIRIT!!

I have been to the reunion in Louisiana, now me and the kids are in Mobile, AL. We will head out in the morning and head to Florida via the scenic route that we choose at the last minute since that is the most fun. Being spontaneous in all aspects of life are the greatest ways to spend the day!

I am glad to see ya'll are holding down the fort well in Tennessee. I knew I could count on you all. Sorry I won't be able to make the local events there, but there will be more when I finally make it home. Don't count me out on them all just yet!!

Hugs to you all and thinking of ya'll often!!!

LB72 if you are heading anywhere near Sarasota, it's probably good advice to skirt around it by about 100 miles radius, if at all possible.. .. They say odd things happen around Sarasota, in case you haven't heard that out on the road..

But other than that, I hope you enjoy your little adventure, and that you are able to find the cheap gas somewhere. You know they have a vehicle they are testing now that runs on pure white Lightnin' I understand. Plenty of that around here. And it's probably cheaper than petrol too.

Take care Pardner, and be safe!

Howdy Everyone!!!! I have finally made it back to the land of the beautiful here in East TN and am so very glad to be back home! I will have to catch up with you all on my trip later through emails, but just wanted to let ya'll know I was back. If anyone has any plans going on in East TN, well, TN in general, let me know as I have been out of the loop for a bit.

Might head out to CEJ tonight, maybe even tomorrow night also, don't know for sure yet, but thought I would throw it out there in case anyone from here was going to be in the area and wanted to have a beer and maybe dance a bit. What a combination! Take care all and Welcome to Tennesee!!!!!!

Glad to be back,
