Posted: 4/1/2008 3:20:46 PM | A interesting question but i have to ask this.. why is it wrong fo a 30 something or late 20 something guy to go out with a girl 18 or 19 but a girl 30 something goes out wth a younger guy and its accetable. we get labeled as Dirty old men.. Women get labeled a Cradel robbers... why does it seem mre acceptable for them?
I am not sure if either case is with out any social reprecussions. I think most people would be slightly embarrassed to introduce their 17 year old bf/gf to their 30 something friends.
But generally, most men do not worry about a woman leaving them for a younger man. Where as women do have to consider it. Women are more likely to leave a guy for one who has more wealth, not youth.
The shaming language the two genders use to denounce each other, reflect the insecurities that each have. | |

Posted: 4/1/2008 3:26:16 PM | Well only being able to speak from the early 20s perspective, some women say they prefer older men to ones their own age, claiming more maturity, stability, etc.
I think sometimes you feel like you have to start that young (not 17 unless you're 24 or younger in the state of Fl) just to kind of balance things out.

mullynsculder, why do you assume that? I don't have any personal stories behind this question and not trying to chew anyone out and no one has pissed me off. Except for you.
No one has dumped me for anyone younger, if that's what you are trying to get at. I've heard my male friends discuss this topic. They are just friends. Of course they were drinking at the time. And I was curious how other guys viewed the subject of dating or having sex with 17 year old girls. Obviously you are one of the men who like the girls real young. If that's what you like then good for you. I'm 32, been told I look 25, and happen to prefer the younger guys myself. The youngest was 22. Personal preferences are what they are. But again I think 17 is just a child still. I've been approached by several 18 and 19 year old guys. I would never go that young. | |

My opinion remains the same if its "ok" for women to want younger men then it should be acceptable for men to want the same. Anything underage is off limits. And no its not any different. I think I've put this in another post about the same subject. I once saw a woman in her mid 40's state and I quote "I want a younger man because they can keep up with me in the bedroom" Then she said in at most early 30's would be the oldest she would consider. So how is that acceptable and when a man says the same thing he's considered a "old perv" It just baffles me. On so many issues are one sided in this society.

I consider an 'old perv' anyone, male or female,that dates or sleeps with someone under 18. I'm not talking about sleeping with someone in their 20's or 30's. It's the teen ages that bother me. It should be illegal because they are just kids that don't know any better. In Canada, unfortunately the age of consent is 17. They need to change that. | |

I'm not sure what you ment by feel, but younger women who have not had babies yet will feel tighter. If a women has kids, pelvic floor exercises might be recomended, because if a man can't feel nothing he aint going to find it easy to get off. The other side of it is that people often don't feel the age they are, so a young girl may remind them of the girls they used to be able to go out with. But personally i go for older women because i want to be able to be on a similary level mentally. A younger women will only be good for one thing! I have the same issue being at university, i'm a 36 year old phd surrounded, by 20 year olds, but I won't go there, because i realise my age, but it doesn't mean I don't find them attractive. It just means I can control myself! lol | |

This scale suggests that men will fancy older girls before the age of 7 and younger ones afterwards. So if the girl is 17, the man should be around 20. if your 30 year old women, a good for the man is 46 - by that equations. Sorry ladies! but on the positive side women get far more chances and come ons than men. I spent nearly all my 20's single, so we all get our turn! | |

Posted: 4/3/2008 9:22:24 AM | In England I know that the only problem that would arise for someone having sex with a 16 or 17 year old was if they were in a position of authority to the child (eg. a care worker, teacher, doctor, or anyone who is directly involved in the childs life as an authority figure) and would be breaking the "abuse of trust provision". But as long as the child is past the age of consent (16 in England, 17 in Ireland, variable in the states) then it is legal to have sexual relations with them (as long as you arent breaking the aforementioned abuse of trust provision)
Thats it from a legal point of view, in a nutshell. If anyone wants me to cite my references then I can't be bothered - just look it up in a law book.
From a personal point of view, and as a 21 year old, I've always been attracted to girls and women around about my own age, and maybe just a couple of years older. I don't know if I could date a 17 year old - like many people on here have said, what would we talk about?
I can see what some people are saying about the excitement of a younger woman, in the same way an older woman might feel flattered or turned on by a buff young fresher rugby player. But would you say that's more socially acceptable because it's a male? Who knows? The same laws apply, but it depends what is taboo in the culture. | |

I think most guys who say there isn't any allure to girls that age are probably not being completely honest, or are just sucking up to the (older) women on these forums. lol.... Look, it would probably be, if anything, a purely "hook-up" kind of thing, I guess. Would I do it? If single, sure, as long as she's at least a day past her 18th (that's the law here, so, we have to at least obey that). Why shouldn't I do it ?? But then again, I would have (and I have had) just "hook-ups" with women who are far older than myself as well. Would we fall in love and get married?? Probably not I'm sure, but only given the age difference and , again as I said, not having enough really "in common" and such. Whether too young or too old, it ends up basically being the same "issues" in terms of a long-term relationship or marriage, except in some cases where 10 or 15 yr age gaps (+/-) do work out just fine (and there are some ; my own aunt & uncle in fact are one -- he is 15 yrs older than she is, and they've been married happily and are still evidently very much in love 38 yrs later, so.....). It was harder since I was underage and couldn't (legally) get into bars (although that usually didn't stop me). I wouldn't encourage anyone who's in their twenties to date a seventeen year old. But I know a couple who got together when she was seventeen, he was twentyfive and fifty years later they're still married. | |

Well, it depends on the person I suppose. Maybe some guys are looking to BS naive girls, but I know I value forthrightness a lot more. In fact, I'm looking for a woman sufficiently intelligent that she'd be able to see through BS.
But from a biological standpoint, women are most sexually attractive to men when they are most fertile, which generally is between the ages of 14 and 24. And it's only within the last couple hundred years or so that it hasn't been commonplace for women to marry at about 14.
Yeah, it may sound repulsive as you say, but contrary to popular opinion, most men know how to control their primal urges. | |

I pretty much think its a waste of your teen years to go off with some old guy and not live in the moment. Another thing is how did they meet in the first place thats pretty creepy if u think about it lol.
What were u stalking this girl from your car while she played on the jungle gym.
Could care less about age truthfully this type of thing happened for all of history, but is kinda mean when u die and this girl has a good 10-25 years of life ahead of you unless they would prefer that. | |
