I claim not to be a prophet, only a messenger of God,
f my words do not come true by the summer of 2o24 AD then I am a fool, who spins tells.
One person can change the world, we can change the world; one person at a time. Nice2PhuckYou is it? Nice preacher name.
It's "preachers" such as yourself that turned me from devout Christian to atheist... I would complain about this, except I think you should keep doing what you're doing because you're turning Christians, One person at a time.

| Is there a god? Posted: 4/9/2008 3:45:38 PM | You know, I'd be way more convinced yo speak for God if you used the right word and not your mangled "use' for "us", "thing" for "think", "o" (small 'o') for "0" (zero), "tells" for "tales", and numerous other errors. These aren't typos. Maybe the "God" you claim to speak for could point you to Google and show you how to download their spell-checker. It's what I use -- and I have an excuse (I'm dyslexic at times).
And, yes, "nice2phku" ("Other Relationship", eh?) doesn't come across as the nicest of nyms for a "speaker of God".
|
| Is there a god? Posted: 4/9/2008 8:54:39 PM |
No fiddler, it means that the speaker acknowledges that if he said anything of value, it was God speaking through him. If not, then it came from his own opinion. When God is within someone, that becomes entirely possible.
Hilarious.
A classic example of faulty reasoning.
If I am right, then it was verification of "God (pick your favorite)" speaking through me...
If I am wrong, it was either the Devil, or my own foolish human ego getting the message wrong.
Rinse and repeat.
This one has been used by every doom-saying "prophet" that ever lived.
The end is coming....NOW.
Ok....NOW!
Ok....*sweating*......Nnnnnnnn - NOW! - Do over no returnsies.
NOW!
Is anyone still listening?
What do you mean they left and formed another church? Filthy apostates!
NOW!
Dammit, I was so sure God was speaking through me.
Result: Any dork can make this absurd claim. No way of proving its veracity at all and no point in taking it seriously because in the unlikely chance that coincedence gives them a hit or something that can be vaguely twisted into one, a post-hoc rationalization will render them into thinking they are right.
Call me back when you part the Red or Reed Sea, turn water into wine, raise the dead, or yourself from the dead...
Or even do more convincing tricks than David Copperfield or your average fakir.

Genesis chapter 1:1 In the beginning God created ...................
See I saved you from reading the whole Bible
I dearly hope you are not talking to me
I have read it Genesis to Revelations many times over my life...I used to get plenty of gold stars for memorization, and read it nightly in whole chapters while living with my grandparents...I even used to enjoy that.
Now how do you and "umption" feel?

That you have proven the prophecy:
Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus said, "Father, Lord of heaven and earth! I thank you because you have shown to the unlearned what you have hidden from the wise and learned.

Sad that people still believe and worship this hateful god. Those gods don't HATE you, they just know the proper place for women in this world... subservient to men. If you have a problem with that, take it up with whichever god you think would listen. hehe.
What always shocks me on POF are the female profiles that specifically request PROMISE KEEPER men... wow.

Who knows what John was revealing to use in revelations.
I think John lays it out quite clearly in his opening remark concerning his revelation....that the revelation he is about to share, is a revelation OF Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
Until a person understands that the revelation is about Christ and not about the natural world order of things to come, then they will not be able to properly discern the figurative expressions and symbolism that John uses in the book.
He wrote down what he saw and related it to the ages and asked that no one to add or take from it. The Hindi, also used this technique to find God, and many others have these visions. These visions, I believe, are of God, and if God is finished with his revelation, then why is God still sending visions of enlightenment to those who listen and are open to his being.
There are no new revelations, and like John said, no one is to add or subtract from his vision and revelation of Christ. So if John is truly speaking by the Spirit of Truth, then the Spirit of Truth is in error, if new revelations are given apart from what has been 'completely' revelaed by John.
John wrote down what he saw, and he used the symbols that were given to him by the angel. These are not John's words and expressions that he struggled to describe as best he could, with his limited knowledge of worldly events...these expressions and prophecies are signified and specific expressions that he was told to write down as he saw them. John never personally struggled with finding one adjective to use, in his descriptive revelation of Jesus Christ, that he wrote.
The early Christian believed the end is eminent, yet; they measured time differently than God. God created the universe in stages, not days. A day is but a 1000 years unto the Lord is just a way of saying, God does not measure time the way we do. To be omnipresent is to say God lives outside our three dimensions and can view time in the fourth dimension. In the fourth dimension a life is view as a line, from beginning to end. In the fourth dimension time has no meaning, everything is displayed at once. We live in what is call the time-continuum, where we only see slices of moments, called the present. So, the early Christians saw only slice of what is, and assumed the end would be near. When some of them began to die, they had to account for that.
I believe the early christian was right and saw the prophecies fulfilled, and this discussion has other thread's, so I won't bring any of this up in here, but so far I have yet to find a theology that claims Christ is not yet returned, that is not based completely on a private interpretations of scripture.

What you have of the Revelation of John is just that, the revelation of John. What we have of any book is at least 200 to 300 years after the event. Nothing is know to exist as an original text. We know nothing first hand or what has been added to the text. Let alone what has been undiscovered. What then? If it is different do you ignore it. Many gnostic texts are older. So what now. If you think you know about Christ, you are mistaken, you only know of Christ what the Roman Catholic Church wanted you to know, period.

Though I agree that a lot of doctrine emerges from the Catholic church, if you have ever read any of my debates on this forum you would see that I am not spouting these same doctrines. Why? Because my knolwedge of Christ supercedes doctrine. So even if doctrine is true, it doesn't affect me as being true until I can bring harmony with what I have experienced... You can assume that everyone has only experienced what Catholism has taught, but that is just your own personal assumption. Doctrine in itself is moot to me, unless I can relate and balance it with my own spiritual walk with God through the experiences Christ has given to me..
I'm not claiming an exclusive truth for anyone, but I am relating my personal experiences as exclusive truth for me. However, even I know and realize that truth is ever expanding...but even though truth is expanding, it does not divert from the foudation of truth. And imo, Johns revelation has probably only been skimmed for the truth that it contains, and there are depths yet to be revealed to us as individuals. But the depths of this truth are known through a revealtion of Jesus and not through the natural observations, seen with the human eye and perceptions, of the world's current events.

Walk -the - walk and talk - the - talk all you want, just do not blame others for your decisions in life. I "chose" not to believe in the tooth fairy, Thor, and all of the other gods. Why? Because there is absolutely no evidence to back up such things.
Since you don't believe in Jesus Christ as a lord and savior, please explain why you made that "choice" not to believe in that god.
Thanks

| Is there a god? Posted: 4/10/2008 12:08:18 PM | In reality is only one God, call It what you may, The Great Atman, Allah, Yahweh, Lord, Zeus, Thor or Aphrodite, but; definitely not Jesus. Jesus was a man who never claim to be other than he was, a son of God. Salvation comes from God, not Jesus. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was to atone for the sins of many, but; was never meant to be anything other than for the Jews. When the Gentles got a hold of it they blended it, skewed it, watered it down. Jesus is not a god, any more than any of use are gods. I believe in more in the Hindi belief system where many incarnation of God occurred over time.
Jesus was a prophet, like Allah and he should not be worshiped,as a God. I believe in Jesus as I do all incarnations and prophets. In the OT one of the names in Hebrew for God is Allah. Any religion which says it is the only way to God is false and of man. This incarnation is what the yearly Christian needed to make this Jewish sect acceptable to the Roman. For anything to replace Zeus the Christ must be made a God. There in you have the change. The raising of Mary as the female God and to be prayed to by people.

In the OT one of the names in Hebrew for God is Allah Where do you get this stuff from?
|
| Is there a god? Posted: 4/11/2008 8:04:45 AM | Everywhere in the Bible King James edited out the name of God and inserted the name Lord. God is not a name, rather an object. Yahweh, Jehovah, El, Adonai, El Shaddai, Elohim, Allah are all used in the Bible if you know your Hebrew and Greek. Hallelujah means in Aramaic, You, Allah are praised, Christ called out from the cross for Allah in Aramaic. Some translations, translate it correctly, The New Word Translation, Zulu translation, Hebrew translation and the Arabic translations of the Bible. In Hebrew Alah means to ascend to raise above. | |

Posted: 4/11/2008 8:24:01 AM | | if we only believed in things we could prove with out a doubt,we would never fall in love.to believe in the spirit, you musy have "faith".so must you to profess your love for someone forever.to ask if there is a god,is the same as asking if you will be with the person you love forever.you cant prove it .you just have faith.
|
| Is there a god? Posted: 4/11/2008 10:37:46 AM | well the question is still there "is there a god?" no one is able to prove that if god exist. isn't ironic that creator of hell & haven who gave birth to laws of physics & created billions of galaxies & multiple verse but unable to provide a single solid evidence so we have to go back to "faith" just like cave man who believed in as sun as god or moon as god or fire as god.
in old time when human did not have enough knowledge everything was mystery to us & every powerful thing that humans cannot control would be consider god, now that we have knowledge & now we know sun, fire, wind, lions are not god, so we come to age old "faith" lol funny.
now what is love, science is working very hard & hopefully in next ten years that mystry would be solve too, as for right now we know love is those chemicals in our brains who would make our heart beat faster or skip a beat. to most part we love due to some kind of association that's why people love country or their children it reminds them of themself or their parents & so on.

Isn't it funny that the best you can do for the creator of the universe is equate it to an emotion? Are you saying that your god only exists as an emotion within yourself?
You can use 'love' as your example since you like to say your god is "love", but you could just as easily ask your question about hate, anger, happiness, lust, or sadness. We don't need scientific proof of emotions because we all experience those things.
If you are willing to say right here and now that your god is nothing but a feeling, I'll buy that definition.

Wrong. Love can be seen in MRIs of the brain.

| Is there a god? Posted: 4/11/2008 5:19:52 PM | "Everywhere in the Bible King James edited out the name of God and inserted the name Lord. God is not a name, rather an object."
That has always been my understanding, too, except that it was capitilized - LORD - meaning the Almighty, to distinguished it from - Lord, which could be anyone but God. It was a replacement for what is called the Tetragram (may not have the spelling right). And, I think of 'God' as a title.
As to the OP, "Is there a God?" I believe there is and that is all I can say, because no, I can't 'prove' it to others, but it is 'proven' to me. As far as the Bible... well... a lot of it makes sense to me and what doesn't... I'll leave to future 'revelation'.
