Show me copy, ANYWHERE, in, say, 2002, that claimed Brady was the best ever. Before his accomplishments, he was drafted 199th overall!!! Yep, definitely over-rated. Shouldn't have been drafted in the top 200. Totally agreee with you.

Please, please oh please.... I have read this exact line very, very slowly.... I have actually spelled it out, trying to interpret it in any other way than how I am interpreting it, and yet, now as I scroll back and look at how many times you have dodged the question, I have to ask it once again... who anointed him the best ever, before he had the experience, the records and the hardware?
Funny, I see that question being asked over and over again. Clearly, as you pointed out to me, you are the only one who claims that Brady is over-rated, so that question is obviously directed at you...but, as is so often the case with you, you completely dodge the question and just blabber on about how we are getting emotional.
So, spin this. Better yet, don't spin it ... just answer it: who anointed Tom Brady the best ever, before he had the experience, the records and the hardware?
I, as does everyone else who has posed the question on this thread, eagerly await the response. But, we have all come to realize it should not be expected.

Oh I am sure if I am wrong someone will say so. Did he not become the number one pick as to what he did prior? Hopefully my mind is still working. Or did you feel he was the number one pick because he had a brother in the NFL ?
Now what does being in the Sports illustrated magazine have anything to do with being anointed as you say? Was that article about comparing him to his brother ...... again? The story sells magazines, I think that's all its about.
Everyone that reads any of the posts on Eli knows he was never over rated. He did not have the numbers as many have said. I see it too I am not blind. To wiz I am just a little dumb. That's not so bad then living in fantasy land with munchkins. That I would have a problem with. | |

Me i kinda think this thread is a bit dumb. Who's rating are we going on? Who's top ten list of quarterbacks or whatever are we using to determine who's overrated? Who here ever saw Y.A Tittle play? Or Johnny Unitas? Or even Fran Tarkenton or Stabler?
Based on who's in the Hall of Fame, Broadway Joe Willie Namath is easily the most overrated by a country mile. Art Schlicter, Boomer Esiason, and Ryan Leaf get honorable mentions. | |

I don't think you will find that I have claimed Eli to be over-rated in this, or any thread. Pretty sure I haven't because I always still considered him in the "learning stages" of his career, prior to his incredible playoff run.
And I am not the one who brought up the whole anointed thing: fshernick did. All I did was correct the spelling of the word 
You're right - sports illustrated is all about hype - whatever sells – which is petty much my point. My point is that PRIOR to Brady setting his records, collecting his hardware and becoming what he has become in the NFL, he could not have sold a Sports Illustrated if he owned a newspaper stand. Brady had to prove himself, in the NFL, before the accolades ever started coming in.
You could put the Manning family pet on the cover of Sports Illustrated and say it is foregoing the final year of kitty college to go into the NFL draft and the issue would sell: Bottom line is the Manning family name is among the most famous in professional football. The name in itself sells magazines.
Brady had to prove himself worthy before the accolades ever came in. Manning had to prove the prognosticators correct. Two completely different scenarios.

When they played the Cowboys last year I was mad as hell at Nate Jones for knocking Farve out of the game. As usuall he threw some timely interceptions and when he was knocked out of the game Aron Rodgers came in to make a decent game of it.

Is Tom Brady Over-Rated? Well Over-Rated most definetly doesnt mean someone sucks, it just means they are over-glorified.
Tom Brady is without doubt the most talented QB this generation. To argue that shows arrogance. Why is he the best right now? Because straight up, on paper he holds the most records, has the highest QB rating and wears the most rings of todays QB's. That being said, the proof is in the preverbial pudding.
I think the Pats had an unbeleivable season, the announsers and media certainly ate it up. Tom Brady had an overly acceptional season, by ANY QB's standards, for this reason alone he was proclaimed to be the best all time QB because his numbers were so ridiculously high.
If the world was invaded by a breed of aliens next week and human survival somehow depended on us beating the aliens at a football game and we had the ability to pick any QB of all time. Who would you pick? I know this is a retarded question, but think about it for real. Next to Montana at his prime Brady would probably be the second most popular choice. For me Id take Brady over montana.
Anyway think about it then ask yourself if Tom is really over-rated. Bottom line, the guys one of, if not the best QB ever produced. Over-Rated? Nah again that title goes to Eli | |

Eli was never even rated as even close to the top 10 QB's this year or any year he played. No one thought highly of him. How could he ever be called over rated is beyond me. Even this year all the way to the Superbowl he had no respect. Even winning all his away games in a season which is next to impossible to do. Oh wait I hear in the background People screaming Brady did it. Well then you are wrong he lost the Superbowl which is away! No one gave Eli a chance and he proved everyone wrong. That he actually could win in the playoffs and win the BIG ONE. Even against Tom Brady and the undefeated Patriots.

Good would be average in my opinion and Eli's numbers are just that, average. The perception that the team who wins the super bowl has the best players, the best QB is retarded and any football fan knows that. But the general public doesnt. People know who Eli is now because he won the Super Bowl. But its all fluff. Any real football fan, aside from a NY fan of course would agree that Eli is just an average QB. Hense the over-rated bit.
Tom Brady didnt lose the super bowl, If you watched the game youll see the defensive line was less the par. Brady played a good game. The QB can only stack up the points, they cant prevent the opponent from scoring. | |

Oh yes I did watch the game. Maybe you where to busy  Did you see Eli play a great game? Did you see the Giants defense sack your boy Brady several times?
Yes Eli is a good QB ......... better then you and everyone thought. Four years in the pros and he already won a Superbowl. Give me a break. Each of his last three years he was consistent 23 or more touch downs and over 3000 yards each year!
He was under the most pressure all season from the Media and being an underdog all season. And with all that he played better than Brady in the Superbowl. | |
