After searching the whole of the internet I can't find a single verified picture of a genuine ghost.

Can anyone explain that? Now, that is really spooky.

And how exactly would you 'prove' that something is a ghost anyway? That's a pointless statement.

After a quick search on the internet, I can find dozens of famous photos verified by experts to be untampered with, containing unexplained apparitions of various forms. Can anyone explain that?

You should come and work a night shift in a care home or hospital setting. I am a nurse and have seen many unexplainable things especially when a patient is dying. One nursing home I worked in was in a really old building and in the middle of the night things would get moved sugar bowls were turned upsid down, tables set for breakfast would be re-arranged. You saw shadows go past the doors and windows. Patients would ring buzzer to say that a tall man in a black hat was at the bottom of their bed. Then 2/3 mins later the patient directly above them on the next flor would buzz and say the ecxact same thing. Dont mind telling you I nearly peed my pants on more than one occassion lol, and only the fact that I couldnt drive at the time kept me in the building cos the grounds were even creepier and it was a long way to the bus stop.

Do I believe in Ghosts? - Yes. I stayed in an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere ... except there was an ancient church behind it. In the middle of the night there was a flickering of light in the room and a cold breeze - no windows were open and there were no discernable lights outside. I was kept awake by a sinister creaking of wood, as if something heavy was swinging from a rope back and forth, back and forth.

In the morning I told my host about it. He told me that the house was converted from a barn and was on a ley line (very typical of certain parts of the West Country). The church next door was used as part of Judge Jefferies trials on witchcraft. The unfortunate 'witches' and criminals when found guilty were taken to the barn and hung from the beams with an old rope ... to die a violent death, their bodies swinging to and fro, to and fro in agony. The beams ran from the landing outside to under my bedroom.

I was terrified when he told me this and spent the rest of my short stay there, bolt awake with the lights on.

I would not dismiss out of hand that which I do not fully understand... and enough weird things happen to me to make me wonder.

I grew up in a large house that my family have owned since it was built in 1720. As we all know, you only have a proper clear out when you move; my family never moved, so it was packed to the rafters with old junk.

We kids had a large games room- floor to ceiling books and games, a piano, stuff like that. We often would hear the piano at night, even if there was no one downstairs. It was common to see an old man sitting in the dining room in the ancient chair at the side of the fireplace. We scarcely remarked on it after about twenty times.

Several times we went on holiday, leaving a perfectly tidy house, alarmed and locked. When we got back, games would be laid out as if we interrupted. It was never the games we would play, more the old fashioned stuff that usually just lay rotting on the shelves.

All of the family can "communicate" without words...a sort of esp, if you like. It is very difficult to explain, but it is like being bombarded with messages until you have to pick up the phone...and invariably get "Oh I am glad you called...I have been thinking about you..."

When my younger brother was in the RAF I decided, on a whim, to drive up to see him. I packed my son in the back of the car, and drove from Nottingham to Fife in Scotland. I had never been before, and can't even remember why....It was a surprise visit, I had not seen or spoken to him in months.
Yet when I got to his house, there was a note pinned to the front door, addressed to me...telling me where to find his key, and what time he would be off duty.

Strange but true.

I was fortunate enough to have lived the first 10 years of my life in a 15th Century Lodge until the property was placed on the market and sold in '78. I had spent more sleepless nights than I care to remember in that house due to it being haunted, therefore I was more than relieved when it had been sold.

I appreciate that this ia a subject constantly up for discussion but from my experience, there is definite signs of supernatural activity.

I must be a ghost, keep seeing young ladies (not on these forums though!) and thinking ooohhh I'd give her the willies.....

Than again perhaps they are ghosts - I get scared stiff!

I believe there are spirits, and have been fortunate enough to witness one in my twenties while serving as a MP in the army, I use to be very frightened of the dark due to the fact as a child my child minder use to lock me under the stairs, as she disliked children crying, anyways this stayed with me right into my twenties and one night when I was on century duty, i remember be very frightened, but didnt tell the lads as i knew jokes would be played on me. Anyway while on duty feeling very scared, more scared then I have ever been in my life, there in the trees was a figure sort of floating, but at the same time being part of the tree if that makes sense, i remember it smiled at me and for a moment the fear went away. Since that day i became less frightened of the dark to the point now where the dark doesnt bother me anymore.

I have also had a out of body experience when i died after giving birth to my youngest 10yrs ago, but thats another story.
