You should put that in your profile so women, like me, who hate hairy guys can pass you by. I am sure there are plenty of women out there who like hairy men but if they know up front it would help. In my opinion, the subject should be approached in your profile. As a woman for example; if I did not believe in shaving my legs or underarms, I would say so in my profile so the men would not be shocked when we met. I do shave my underarms and legs but that is an example. We need to be honest, sincere, and reavealing about our true feelings and looks in our profiles. That way, nobody gets surprised upon meeting.

Not to gross anybody out... I work a second job in a fitness club. Some of the guys in there need to use the hair dryers on other places besides their heads!! I'd say that 10% of guys have hairy backs... and 10% of those guys are sasquatch material. Out of all the guys though, only about 25% do any hair removal at all... and trust me, I'm not in there "lookin," it's just tough not to notice sometimes.

The club I work in is huge and considered to be one of the largest in the country... we have a spa in there that'll occasionally offer a full body waxing for just 40 bucks. And it'll last for months. I wouldn't suggest getting your legs waxed though. lol.

I am a hairy fellow also. If a woman doesnt like it I just move on. I used ot be insecure about it but have found there are just as many women around that love us fuzzy types.

Keep your dignity, dont get all metro and wussy about it. Just find a woman thats a better match

"metro" is a guy that takes care of himself. I have some hair on my back, but I keep it clean. I have hair on my chest, but I keep it under control... if the women you're interested in don't like a hairy back, get it fixed. I wouldn't suggest that you wait around for one that'll like your fuzzi-ness or settle on a woman that you're NOT interested in. It's about finding a woman that *you're* interested in, right? But I guess that's just my opinion.

Depends...... when you take your shirt off does it look like you are wearing a sweater? If so a trim may be in order..... that is if you are sporting 5 inch hairs.

Ya, exactly what Kyn says applies to how I feel. I shouldn't let something like that affect me, but, men have their preferences with what they can and cannot tolerate on a woman for there to be attraction so...........

I can't help it but back hair makes me want to throw up.Hair is so easy to remove so why not just get it taken off.If i can take care of my body hair then why can't men?

Just curious as to how you would feel if she showed up in a tank top with bushy pit hair poking out and wearing shorts showing hairy legs?

I'm a guy and hair back to me is very disgusting. My brother friend brother has the hairiest back I ever seen. When we play football and he takes his shirt off, you can barely see any skin on his back. He definately needs to shave it as everytime I run into him the hair rubs on my skin which isn't cool at all lol. I've also seen some ladies with hair on their back. What the heck is going on here.

Removing back hair isn't "easy"... Running a razor under your arms or on your legs is NOT EVEN CLOSE to shaving your back...

Ever had a spot on your back that you couldn't scratch? Try reaching that with a razor... yeah.. THATS EASY..

And waxing? As someone else pointed out, thats easily $120 a month to keep it smooth. Thats the cost of my electric bill every month just to keep SOME people happy with my appearance.

I try to take care of my appearance, but there are a few things that are just not worth the effort, and shaving my back isn't worth it. Find someone that likes you for all your imperfections.

This is coming from someone that hasn't had their back waxed I bet. Try 3 weeks if you are lucky...

John there are creams that you can just spread on , leave 5 minutes and the hair comes off. There is even a product that you can place on after removing the hair that prevents it from coming back for quite a while. If women can remove disgusting body hair then so can men and it doesn't have to be expensive at all.

Oh yeah why didn't you answer my question. If you expect a woman to put up with your body hair will you put up with hers?I don't think so.

You really have two options:

1. Get laser hair removal and be done with it.

2. Dont care what women think and find a woman eventually does not mind the hair.

I say that most women really dont know what the heck they want and trying to please all of them is near impossible. Hence why I am still single.

I don't mind some hair on a man's back. It's a little too much, though, when I can grab a handful and pull...that's just ewwwww....

Should I keep my arm pit hair and leg hair because it's "natural and organic and the way I was made?" I never hear any guys complain about how I shave all that good natural hair off.

There are some women who are really into hairy guys. Do what you want, OP. It's your body.

I don't like really hairy bodies, but I can tolerate it, and even come to like it if the guy is right for me in other ways, and he isn't Sasquatch hairy.

Except a$$ hair, can't tolerate that AT ALL

I've been fighting to keep my fingers off the keyboard, but I lost... This thing about body hair in the past few years has gotten rather comical. Do what you are most comfortable with. (Warning!! It's time for my favorite saying) Better a hairy back than a jacka$$.

Hairy backs bug me as well...not to the point of not wanting to date someone because of it, but it is a bit of a turn off.
I figure, if I shave, pluck, wax places hair shouldn't be...I expect the same. Get rid of the unibrows, backhair, and keep armpits and pubic hair trimmed and in order. :)

You also don't hear men complain if you wear makeup. Does this then mean that men should wear makeup as well?

This isn't a 100% equality contest. Men and women are different from each other in significant ways. The methods of grooming a woman uses are going to be radically different from those a man uses.

To me, I don't particularly care if a woman has hair in her armpits, or hair on her legs. This is the way she is as a human being. If either of those things are "deal breakers" for me, then I'm obviously not emotionally mature enough to be in a relationship in the first place. It's like a woman who uses height as a make-or-break thing for a man's "acceptability". If she's that hung up on a man's height, she isn't emotionally (and some would say intellectually) mature enough to be looking for a long-term relationship in the first place. If all you're looking for is a shag, then hey, be as physically shallow as you like. There's no emotional component involved. You're looking for Tab A to fit into Slot B for some physical gratification, nothing more.

But most women I've met aren't like that (not saying there aren't women like that out there, I'm just saying in my experience that they're the minority). They're, whether they're aware of it or not, always considering a guy for long-term potential, even if it's a casual first or second date.

However, the hair on the back thing... if this is a deal-breaker for a lady, maybe she should do a serious self inventory and figure out why this trait, of all things, is make-or-break for her. Everyone has some physical aspect of themselves that they don't like. Some women aren't happy with the way their breasts hang, or if one's slightly larger than the other. Some guys have a rough, abrasive beard that grows halfway back in by the evening after they've shaved in the morning. Some women have oily skin that leads to acne. Some men have an unusually long or pointed nose. The list goes on and on.

I recognize that the approach situation works a bit differently on a personals website than it does in approaching someone in person. However, the idea, at least as far as I'm aware, is to find someone you eventually do want to meet in person, and the instant you do, the Internet considerations go out the window, and it's just as though you'd met at the coffee shop of your choice by "chance". Not ignoring the necessity of physical attraction, but I'd like to think there are some women evolved enough to realize that the physical attraction is just one aspect of a person, and shouldn't be the sole deciding factor on that person's "acceptability" for a date. And even though it's near the top of the list, if it comes down to something like how hirsute a guy's back is... are there no limits to the degrees by which men or women will continue to build nit-picky lists as they attempt to filter out everyone who isn't physically perfect?

The club I work in is huge and considered to be one of the largest in the country... we have a spa in there that'll occasionally offer a full body waxing for just 40 bucks. And it'll last for months

My very first job was as a beautician...I used to wax the odd back but it wasnt really a popular practice. And the guys would only need it done about every 8 weeks.

Today...I happened to chat to a young man (wearing a singlet top it was 102 degrees here, 104 tomorrow sheesh!)...and I noticed he had chest hair.
We got to talking because I said it was rare to see guys like that anymore.
Now he was a tough little bloke...and yet he still considered waxing as normal personal maintenance including legs (obviously hadnt done it in a while which is how the convo came up).
Seems though...its just considered the norm nowadays amongst young men.

Personally I like men to look like men...that includes body hair...legs, arms, chests, but just dont like the look or the feeling of a throwover rug around the shoulders. Icky!

I was in a situation with a woman recently where she was totally turned off with my hairy back. I think it is natural & organic and the way I was made and don't feel the inclination to wax or shave.

What if the tables were turned? yes it's totally natural to be hairy...would you date a woman with hair pits or legs? Wouldn't you kinda be turned off when you started rubbing her leg and it felt like a carpet? We just ask you men to give we women the same things you ask of us!
I am okay with a hairy chest, but a hairy back is not my cup of tea. We are all different, i'm sure there are men out there that enjoy a natural woman, and there's women out there that love a hairy man. Find one, and keep her, since you aren't willing to wax or shave.

Well I guess I was mis-informed. I was told that it would take months for it to grow back... maybe it depends on the guy??

Getting your back waxed every 8 weeks could be costly. Is it true that shaving will make it grow back thicker? Or is that an urban legend ...like eating pop rocks and drinking a cola? **KA-BOOM**

I didnt realise hairy backs was such a big issue, Im a bit of a chewbacca myself like, I agree with some of the posts, i.e. perceived beauty as hyped by the media driven by consumerism, stereotypical view, size 00 etc.

Not a big issue for me ive had it waxed in the past by an ex, but would probably never dream of walking into wherever it is you go and ask for my back waxed, I think its a hard job to do solo unless you have double jointed shoulders like.

If it was a problem for someone then id take it off, I actually prefer it off since you get the odd ingrown hair that can be painful/irritant.

As for rate of growth everyone is different, I have to shave my face daily where as some of my mates go a few days between shaves.

Don't even think about waxing or shaving your back. I waxed my ex's for him (admittedly I was a waxing virgin) but as it started to grow back it was horrifically itchy, he found it unbearable (wish I'd done it a few more times now!).
Just wait until you find someone that loves you for who you are, then your hairy back won't even be an issue.
