| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/15/2008 6:25:31 AM | ^^^ I couldn't agree more. | |
|
| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 10:02:37 AM | | ...OK..hairy backs are a turn off...I get that...but they're a little tough to deal with by yourself...Soooooooooooooooooo...couldn't the significant other in your life do you and herself a favor...by offering to help apply some depillatory in the shower...or even a home wax job..if it's not a large area??? I'm seeing a lot of people with closed minds here...we all have different bodily characteristics...so we have to learn to live with some things...and help change those that can be changed... | |

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 11:22:09 AM | | It's kinda weird how somethings effect your senses differently. Feels good to the touch, but unappealing to the sight. Kinda like fat. | |
|
| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 2:32:20 PM | there are hairy backs and there are hairy backs--just like women's legs. for some, it 's just a shave around the neck to do it. for others, especially the younger crowd who shaves everything, it is a big issue, also, some cultures are hairier than others-- plus "larger" than others or "fatter" than others, etc. etc.
so, i wouldn't waste my time if i were you and it gets to be super picky. however, if you are concerned or you really are in denial about an "unusually" hairy back (even for your own ethnic group), just go and get it lasered off once and for all. ask yourself, if you would want a women with excessively and unshaved hairy legs. if yes, move to santa cruz, where most of the hippies are still wearing the same stuff as in the 60's!
in the long run, lasering is the most efficient method, but you MUST go to a professional, at LEAST a licensed nurse. there have been instances where poorly trained staff, in what i call LASER MILLS, have burned people. also some people cannot get lasered for medical reasons.
i don't particulary like very hairy backs, but unless atrocious, i'd just let it go because the other parts are more important. plus, a hairier man is a higher testosterone man--so look at yourself that way, while recuperating from the mean spirited comment. now men are finally getting the same type of stuff that women have gotten all their lives. usually these comments if made in a harsh way, come from brainless and insensitive people. however, everyone has their preferences and limits and turnoffs. some will never even let you know what theirs are. not sure which is worse.
as to telling her beforehand? well, where does it stop? do we all have to post internal or personal measurements, the number of follicles per inch? how about IQ or your credit score? part of it all, is getting to know the person and to see if the "whole" can be appreciated, in turn being appreciated ourselves and loving each other's frailties.

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 2:49:20 PM | I can't believe all this. I really can't believe it! What has happened to the world these days? What the heck is going on? This...... hair removal on all parts of the body.... fad/faze. This.... desire.... to be UNnatural.... fake. I really really really just don't get it. I am soooooooooooooo glad I am who I am! I'd be ashamed to think, let alone SAY, to a man "ewwww you have hair on your chest/arms/legs/back/privates/scalp". Of course he has hair! Our bodies have hair. It's natural... it's nature.
Watch out guys... soon women will have you waxing your arms too! Or... maybe it's too late... maybe they already are telling you to do that. I can't believe you listen! What do I know. I'm sooooooo not into that scene.

couldn't the significant other in your life do you and herself a favor...by offering to help apply some depillatory in the shower...or even a home wax job..if it's not a large area??? Wouldnt bother me in the slightest. Besides the fact as Ive mentioned previously I worked in the industry...I just think its kinda nice to do little things like that for your partner and kinda intimate.
Like...waxing if need be, manicures, trimming facial hair, a massage after an injury, tying a tie or even cooking dinner. I like doing little things like that for someone when I care. Waxing would just be another one.

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 4:13:55 PM | ah breath, i had your reaction when i first adopted my teens. in my generation if you shaved private areas, you looked like a french prostitute. see what internet porn does for us all. entire ancillary industries cropping up as many people's only taste of intimacy comes from the media. fortunately my dr. told me her kids were doing the same and were at stanford college. or i would have had a stroke! but then again, i remember when teasing one's hair to the ceiling and spraying it to the feel of hard plastic was the "in" style. so glad my mother did not "let me". they actually found bugs in people's hair back then, so we all have our generational issues.
the other issue, however, is ethnicity. some ethnic groups are totally hairless and others are very hairy. with ethnic groups getting together, there is a lot of amazement. it pays to have teens keep you in the loop. too funny! however, as a plus, there are celibacy moments as the hair grows out from the waxing. so there's a plus for moms. get to know your child during these intervals.
kyn, my manfriend is so macho, he won't even let me near him to adjust anything. but thank G-d he does like massages and touch feeley stuff. just leave his tie alone, his cowlick up in the air, and if you come at him with any hot wax--you are totally OVER!!! like i said above, i'll go for the testosterone when pushed to decide!

| Hair and dating Posted: 3/16/2008 4:40:03 PM | I also have the monkey gene from my dad- tons of back and chest hair and on my arms and shoulders. Most women in so cal are grossed out by it. I once had a bad experience in San Diego at a rock concert when I was wearing a wife beater tank top t-shirt at the street scene festival and some dirty skank got grossed out by my hairy back. Some women dont mind but most dont like it. Anyways, I am not really worried anymore about it since I work so damn much and travel all the freaking time, it leaves me one day or two at most a week to even have for meeting new women.
Funny- overseas when I was in South America and Asia, the women really liked my hairy body. Go figure?
If it comes to it in the future that a possible long term love interest presents itself to my life I would be flexible on getting rid of the back hair and such.
Anyways I would make a deal with a lady that I will get the hair cleaned up and waxed or removed as long as she shaves her arms, legs and private parts. Fair is fair and square!

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 5:10:17 PM | | up here in the 21st century a lot of us do at least a little bit of manscaping... | |
|
| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 7:50:06 PM | Can you say wax? How about Nair? Take a lesson from bodybuilders, and go smooth....at least back there. | |
|
| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 9:29:10 PM | | I cannot speak for another, but for me, a hairy back is a COMPLETE turn off! Maybe consider laser treatment. | |
|
| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/16/2008 10:23:36 PM | Different people will react to things differently.
Personaly, i dont think you have to come out and say "I have a hairy back" at any particular time, but you could probably judge how they would react to such a thing by asking subtle questions on similar topics.
Personaly, i think the lady you speak of handled that situation rather crapily.
Some women love hairy guys... some guys love hairy women...

Welcome to the world where people are told what is sexy. Sure, people will genuinly think what is sexy to them is sexy, but its also pretty safe to say that what they think is sexy (kind of feeling weird saying "sexy" alot...) has been majorly influenced by media.
Not saying i am free of such influences either, but i dont tell people what is and isnt right, just that i have my own oppinions on what i like ^_^

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/18/2008 10:10:31 PM | | Yuck a major turn off to me. I think u should shave or wax. Would u like a woman with a hairy back? We were given ways to improve ourselves so why not take advantage. I think u should meet someone and then on your next phone conversation just bring it up. I usually just say do u have a lot of hair. If they don't mention the back then I ask. I don't want to date a cave man. | |

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/19/2008 12:37:54 AM | What the hell? How come every woman thinks you can just shave or wax a hairy back and poof. It's gone.
What the heck. Are you serious? I've got my shoulders professionally waxed before and I broke out like crazy. And then a week later I had hair there again in ADDITION to the irritation.
If I shave my chest, I can't shave again for at least two weeks because of all the irritation.
Men have THICK curly hair as opposed to women who have much lighter and finer hair that is easier to shave without irritation.
I can only shave my beard max of twice a week. I know I am extremely hairy and more so than most guys but still it's not that freaking easy.
I guess I'm just screwed.

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/19/2008 6:10:43 AM | | One of the best guys I ever dated has a hairy back, and I didn't care. I thought he was amazing and gorgeous (I still do, he is one of my best friends to this day), and because of that I liked every inch of him. | |

BTW, what's under the hood on the truck?

I'm looking for a mid-50's shortbed pickup but so far everything I like is out in Iowa or Nebraska or made into a rat rod which I don't want. One of mine is 99.99% stock, others are close but not as close.
(Sorry to the original OP for hijacking this thread but a gearhead is always a gearhead and seeks hairy gearheads!)

Personally I like men to look like men...that includes body hair...legs, arms, chests, but just dont like the look or the feeling of a throwover rug around the shoulders. Icky!
I agree.....men nowadays shave everything off. What's up with that? I want a man, not a boy. All I ask is that the hair be trimmed.

(cough cough) hippy (cough)
It's a fricken personal preference... who cares... it's not UNNATURAL to fricken shave otherwise there wouldn't be razors... I shave because it makes me feel BETTER... I hate having a bloody jungle growing down there, it doesn't look nice and doesn't FEEL nice. I feel more natural and womanly when I am shaven. That's my preference. Just as I have a preference for NON HAIRY BACKS. Go ahead - call me callous, rude, shallow, whatever you want. I don't judge you guys for crappy jobs, substance abuse, having children out of wedlock, whatever. It's just a preference.
THAT IS ALL.
Ps the hippy thing was just a joke. Get over it. ARGH.

| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 3/30/2008 7:12:41 PM | | I agree with interactive john on this.. you can't compare shaving your back to a woman shaving her legs/armpits it's almost impossible to remove hair from your own back you need to have someone do it for you. Waxing is painful causes skin irritation and is expensive (and it's back in weeks) laser? even more expensive and requires several treatments before it even becomes permanent (even then it can still come back) I suppose Nair works but like I said you still need someone to help you. I'm not gonna go through that kind of trouble just to keep some people happy. More trouble then its worth. Maybe if she offered to help me remove it. | |
|
| HAIRY BACKS Posted: 4/3/2008 11:49:16 AM | I find hairy back a real turn off, that doesn't make me shallow. I would love to wax my other halfs back if i had another half.
Ask men how many of them would like to be with a woman who doesn't shave her legs or her armpits or her private area. These things are expected so why can't a woman ask a man to shave his back and to be honest I would prefer it if he shaved his private area too
